FPSO cranes

Compact and lightweight, yet robust and durable

Box boom type cranes are ideally suited for application on FPSOs and FSOs, thanks to their compact design, requiring only limited space and bringing on relatively little weight. Despite their compact and lightweight design, Kenz cranes are built to withstand the dynamic behaviour of the vessel, even as the crane's position on a high pedestal amplies the motion eects. To meet the specic requirements of their operating environment, our cranes may also be supplied explosion proof according to ATEX guidelines.

Cranes for multi-purpose service vessels

Various conditions, various tasks

The marine and oshore industries continue to extend their scope. Multi-purpose service vessels need to be able to operate in varying conditions and on various tasks. When it comes to lifting tasks, this requires cranes of special design often tailored to the specic circumstances in which a vessel is built to operate. Kenz-Figee is capable of pre-engineering cranes for any purpose within the limitations provided by the vessel, but with the sheer limitless possibilities required by the operator.

Special features

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Engineering capabilities
Kenz-Figee provides a wide range of safety and operational features, including explosion proong, constant tensioning of hoist wires, automatic boom load centering, man-riding and high reliability diesel-hydraulic and electric-hydraulic power units

Active Heave Compensation (AHC) compensates excursions resulting from platform's or vessel's motions so that (i.e. subsea) loads maintain their relative position to the seabed; Shock Absorber - double acting hydraulic pre-tensioned cylinder on the crane's boom reduces impacts on crane and load during lift; Man-riding; Boom Load Centering System - prevents sidelead angles during supply vessel ooading; Traction winches; BOP cranes; Crane Information System (PLC based information/diagnostics system).

Exemplary for Kenz-Figee's special engineering capabilities, is the Active Heave Compensation (AHC) system that can be applied for both subsea and above water duties. For subsea applications, the system can be used to safely install equipment up to 400 t in 3,000 metres water depth from a support vessel or an FPSO. The AHC system entirely compensates all vertical excursions, to a maximum of 12 metres, that result from the ship's roll, heave and pitch motions.

Refurbishment, modifications, lifetime extension

Full refurbishment of six mechanical cranes.

Turn-key service
To comply with current legislation for the lifting of personnel on and o oshore installations, Kenz-Figee has developed various modication programs for existing winch and control systems.

For man-riding duties, tting additional fail-safe brakes, acting directly on the winch drum and not through gears and shafts of a gearbox, is one major requirement. A dedicated selection mode for man riding duties is added to the crane control and Safe Load Indicator systems, which reduces the Safe Working Load to the value allowed for man-riding duties. When required, the hoist speed may be limited and crane safety systems like Constant Tensioning and Gross Overload Protection deactivated in this mode. An emergency power unit completes the man-riding modication program.

Kenz-Figee oers a complete crane upgrade and conversion service, for our own equipment as well as that of other manufacturers. Redesign and fabrication follow detailed structure analysis, resulting in a good-as-new unit to meet new challenges, fully tested end veried.

14

Kenz-Figee can provide various refurbishment programmes:

Life-time extension (complete crane); Replacement of components to ensure availability; Reduce maintenance costs and requirements; Upgrade of capacity; Comply with current legislation; Increase reliability; Modications to allow for man-riding; Ergonomics.
Refurbishment schemes will be specically developed for each client, type of crane, type of application and with regard to circumstances. Kenz-Figee has the capability to realise projects on a turn-key basis.
