MISSED CHANCE

A successful, beautiful, young lady named Atty. Keisha Gonzalez, she had a loving family. And she almost had a perfect relationship with her boyfriend for 2 years, but it ended up unsuccessfully. Thats why she decided to go to province to see her grandma, and to have a peace of mind, and to forget what happened to her past relationship.

One day, when she visited her grandma in the province, she saw someone.... someone who is quite familiar to her. And when she realized who is it she felt something unusual. It felt like her heart skip a beat. Her grandma suddenly appears and said. Oh my dear youre here! I missed you so much. Oh I forgot, hes also here, do you remember him? Your childhood friend... Lawrence... Lawrence Sy, Keishas childhood friend. They didnt saw each other for many years. Oh! Lawrence? Keisha said

Keisha? Oh hi! Youve grown up a lady now huh!Lawrence said While Keisha and Lawrence were talking, her grandma went into the kitchen preparing food for them. Of course! Ive always been a lady Keisha said Oh really? I thought youre a lesbian. Since we were kids you act unlady like.Lawrence said No Im not Keisha said Yeah you were Lawrence said Hey! You two stop it already, come on, come on lets eat Keishas Grandma Oh by the way Keisha, how are you? Lawrence Im fine Keisha So what are you doing right now? Lawrence Ahm, Im an attorney now, how about you?Keisha Oh wow! Attorney huh! Me? Im a cardiologist.Lawrence

As they were eating they just talked about their past. When they finished eating they went to some place; their favorite place way back then, when they were kids. It is a beautiful place; it has a big tree near a clean river bank. They had a tree house, they built it before. The place is really beautiful. As they were reminiscing their childhood days; Keisha felt really happy, as if it was her first time to be happy. She didnt know why she felt that kind of happiness. She just thinks that maybe because it was their first meeting since they parted ways. Lawrence broke the silence between them.

Keish? Hmm? she looks at him with a friendly smile. Would you mind if I ask youummhave you ever been inlove to someone? h-huh? what do you mean? Keisha asked in surprise Uh... Nevermind hahaha did I sound weird? Hahaha... its alright if you wont answer it... forget it... hahaha I have one before Law stopped from laughing. Looking through her face could see the pain. Shes still sitting on the edge staring at her feet. The wind blows smoothly, made the trees to sway in rhythm. Leaves were falling gently while flipping thro and fro as it land on its end. H-huh? Law was puzzled for a moment. He dont have the idea of what she meant I once fall inlove with a guy before. She continues, she bit her lips for a moment trying to refrain herself from crying. I loved him so much b-but he just broke my heart her voice croaked, she cant take it anymore, she burst into crying. Two years, weve stayed for two years I thought he loves me too... but Im a fool to believe his lies h-he just used me and I hate him for doing such things, I hate him, I hate him so much shes becoming hysterical now. She really hates crying infront of anyone. But she cant help it. She tried to move on and forget it but her past keep on hunting her. Before she knew it, she finds herself being embraced. Lawrence automatically wraps her arms around her. She tried to push him but he hugs her tightly. Please, lets stay like this for a moment let me hug you this once... please I dont know how to comfort you so let me hug you to at least ease the pain inside you

Through his voice it may sound that hes also hurt. Why law?? Why did he hurt me? Why do I need to suffer? I gave him everything I can, but why it end up me being dumped? shes hopeless, shes crying hard but to her shock, she suddenly heard him sobbing and before she knew it, hes crying and she doesnt know why. Damn him!!! How dare that guy to hurt you? He hurt the one Ive cared for, he hurt the person I loved the most!! hes almost shouting, full of anger. His fists were tightly closed as if hes trying to control his emotions. His eyes were closed but his tears keep on falling from his eyes. Keisha was shocked upon hearing his confession, she dont know how to face him. Law, I cant understand she tried to speak, wanting things to be fixed. Shes still crying. Law pushes her a little bit and faces her. Using his thumbs, he wipes away the tears falling from his eyes. Please dont cry, I dont want to see you crying and Im hurt whenever you cry. Please tell me I cant understand you I-I cant he broke down with frustration. Please Law Keisha pleaded. He sighed I loved you he looks into her eyes begging to understand him. Since we were child I know, Im inlove with you Im so happy everytime I see you and I felt like Im carrying a burden everytime I lost my sight on you he laughs bitterly I know you cant believe it, but please I just cant get over you he took her hands Keish, I love you I hope youll consider my feelings for you

B-but why me? Dont ask me why I chose you, cause even me, I didnt know why I love you I just felt it. Law, Im sorry I cant she said W-why? I just cant, Im afraid I might get hurt again, Im sorry Please give me a chance, I just love you. Please let love you, let me be the one who will ease the pain in your heart I-I dont want to used you the way he used me. Its not about using Keisha, its about loving you and Im willing for it. I dont know please give me time Im sorry with that she stood up. But before she left, Law told her something that made her stop. We are the product of our past, but we must not be a prisoner of it, always remember that Keisha then she leave Lawrence hanging. She rushed to her room and she burst into crying. She heard a click from her door and she saw her grandma approaching her. La, I cant understand Im afraid shes crying in her grandmas arms Keisha, I dont understand your situation now, but let me tell you this theres nothing to be afraid if you will just believe. Youre just afraid to try and be hurt again. But you know what hurts the most? Its the frustration of not trying, of not believing and of not trusting. You cant live life with happiness when you have that fear in your heart. And to take away that pain, you have to face it, face your fears, darling. It may be painful again, but it matters on how you decide. Keisha was still crying in her grandmas arms.

I believe you Keisha on choosing your decisions as well as your destiny, let love reign in your heart. And to take away that pain and anger cause it will surely does take you in control if you let it win. Youre old enough to know whats best and what you deserve. Thats why I trust you. After that her grandma left her. Shes thankful to her because shes enlightened. And all she needs to do is to talk to him tomorrow. The next day she woke up with a weird feeling she doesnt know why she just felt something strange Grandma what happened? she asked her grandma which was sitting on the couch feeling uneasy. I dont know, Lawrence didnt come home last night and Im afraid of what might happened to him Oh please Law, where are you Im so worried, I have to tell you something, her mind shouted. Shes also worried about him. Suddenly a man came rushing and panting like his been hunting by a wild animal. Caloy, what happened? her grandma asked him. L-Lawrence upon hearing his name, theres something that stab her heart W-what happened? she tried to speak out of unexplainable feelings We found him stabbed by a knife in his stomach and hes been rushed to the hospital, and I dont know whats his condition now, they say its critical to her shock, unknowingly her tears fell from her eyes, she cant lose him, she already lose someone, and she doesnt want it to happen again. Adrenaline rush flows through her veins and immediately ride in her car, shes in a hurry. Shes totally out of her mind. Her visions were blurred because of her tears. And in a minute she was now in the hospital. She didnt know how did she came here that fast. All she had in her mind is that Lawrence needs her. She rushed into the nurse station and for the room number. Shes really worried that she didnt even know that shes still in her pajamas; she didnt brush her teeth nor comb her hair.

After knowing that hes in the emergency room, she rushed going there. And she didnt mind even if she bumped to someone. All she thinks that she needs to be there because he needs her and she also needs him. And finally when she got there, she slowly opens the door and started crying when she saw him lying on the bed unconsciously. Theres so many machine machines that were connected to his body like its the one that gives him life. She slowly walks into him while tears keep falling from her eyes. She held his right hand and kneeled. Im sorry La I know its my fault Im the one why you are here shes crying so hard Please dont leave me please I need you now that I realized that I also love you please dont give up dont give up for me I love you so much suddenly felt his hands moving, it gives her hope. She looked at him immediately and was surprised when he was now awake. She was about to call for a doctor, but he just hold her hands. Please dont go he tried to speak, he weakly smiled at her Im glad you came, Ive been waiting for you Oh please dont talk dont force yourself He tried to reach her face to wipe away her tears. Dont cry Keish it hurts me so much she immediately brush away the tears his eyes and give him an encouraging smile. Law please dont leave me Keisha, remember, Im always here by your side he points to her heart I will be with you forever What are you saying Law? Please dont blame yourself, its not your fault, just remember that I will never leave you. He gives his all strength to cup her face

Please dont leave me Law, I love you I-I- I love you too, thank you. I want you to be happy Keish, be happy always. Law please, youre not leaving right? Tell me please dont give up for me He just gives him a sweet smile and mouthed I love you his hands was down, his eyes were closed, while tears fell from his eyes. A loud noise filled the silence of the room and all she can do is nothing but cry.
