Drawbenches

Fives Bronx offers a wide range of drawbench solutions. The Abbey technology offers both chain and hydraulic drawbenches up to 1,000,000 lbs pull and up 200 feet long. The high-production Dual Chain drawbenches are designed to draw tubing through dies and over internal dies, as required to reduce diameter and wall as well as improve finish and yield strengths of the tubing. The draw carriage pulls at the centerline of draw, as compared to a single chain system which pulls off center, creating an over -turning moment between the chain and the draw centerline. Draw forces are self contained within the bench structure to minimize foundation or reinforcement requirements. Tube loading occurs at the top of the drawbench, and discharge is directly under the centerline of draw. Conveying tube in and out of the drawbench is easier and faster to accomplish.

Hydrabenches

Hydraulic powered drawbenches, have many advantages over the conventional chain driven benches. The draw carriage is pulled at centerline of draw. Only the hydrabench and dual chain bench pulls at centerline of draw, whereas the single chain pulls off center. All forces are self-contained within the hydrabench structure. No special foundations or reinforcements are required. Smooth Draw. The hydraulic action is constant throughout the entire draw cycle and is completely free of chain chordal effect. Absence of Jerk at Draw Start. The smooth hydraulic action eliminates chain snatch at the critical period of draw, which is at the commencement of material flow. Smooth and Stepless Rapid Acceleration and Deceleration. The hydrabench draw carriage is driven by an hydraulic cylinder which is powered by an A.C. motor driven hydraulic power unit. Draw interruption. The draw carriage can be stopped during the draw cycle at any point along the bed for tube inspection or whatever. Minimum Overdraw. The completion of draw is sensed by loss of pressure and the hydraulic pump reacts instantaneously, returning to neutral or zero output. Higher Production Capacity of the hydrabench is achieved, compared to chain benches, because of faster acceleration, deceleration and carriage return speed, not by faster draw speed. Low Noise Level. All hydrabenches produce less noise during operation than chain benches. Cleanliness. Chain benches require heavy lubricant on the chains which, as it builds up, can cause a cleanliness problem.
