Abe Issa, the father of modern Jamaican tourism,
convinced his father, Elias Issa, to venture into the hotel industry and purchase the Myrtle Bank Hotel in Kingston in 1943. Abe thrived in the hotel industry,
and continued to expand his influence. As a result of continuous remarks from guests of Myrtle Bank expressing the desire for a resort hotel on the north
coast, Abe set out to make it happen as only he could.

In 1948, Abe began to build Tower Isle Hotel, and in January 1949, after 365 days straight of intense manpower, Tower Isle opened its doors. Word spread
quickly and Tower Isle soon became a popular Hollywood hangout. Stage and screen stars, sports and political figures frequented the resort. Walt Disney,
actress Eva Gabor, screen sensation Debbie Reynolds, boxer Joe Louis and playwright Noel Coward are just a few that were drawn to the old world charm
of the resort. Even Princess Margaret stayed at the resort on one of her many visits to the island.

Tower Isle established the start of a new era of tourism in Jamaica. It also became the first resort to be open year round, thus creating a summer season where
there had not been one before. In 1955, Abe Issa was appointed chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board, and from 1955 to 1963 he led “The Golden Age of
Tourism” in Jamaica.

During these years Abe contemplated the concept of a pre-paid Jamaican vacation and began researching the idea. In 1978 he turned the concept into a
reality and pioneered the all-inclusive concept in Jamaica – turning Tower Isle into the first all-inclusive resort for couples only. Located in vibrant Ocho Rios,
the resort was aptly named Couples Ocho Rios. In 1984, after a rich and full life, Abe Issa passed away. Now, 31 years after the inception of the first Couples
Resort, the company has infused $30 million into Couples Ocho Rios and renamed our grand lady Couples Tower Isle. It’s clear that Abe has left behind a
legacy and the all-inclusive concept in Jamaica has flourished.

THE SETTING
Couples Tower Isle is located on 19 acres of beautiful beachfront property – 65 miles from
Montego Bay Airport and just 5 miles from downtown Ocho Rios. The drive from Montego
Bay Airport to the resort takes approximately 2 hours or a flight takes about 20 minutes.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS
The resort features 226 romantic rooms and suites, each with a king-size bed, air
conditioning, digital cable flat screen TV, telephone, iPod/MP3 docking station, shower,
bath, hair dryer, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, in-room safe and a balcony or
patio overlooking the Caribbean Sea or our lush tropical gardens. Ocean or Garden
View One-bedroom and Junior Suites also include a Jacuzzi-style bath tub or zero entry
shower and mini-bar.

CLOTHING CONCERNS
Be sure to pack lots of light and comfortable clothing – and remember to include a few
nice items to wear at night! We like to think we’re pretty casual, but there are a few minor
dress requirements. When dining in any of our restaurants – besides the ultra laid-back
Beach Grill – during the evening hours, we request that you keep your sneakers, shorts,
t-shirts and tank tops in your room. And while casual elegance is the preferred style
at most of our restaurants, we request a slightly more upscale look at our fine dining
restaurant, 8 Rivers. Men are asked to wear slacks, collared shirts and closed shoes,
while dresses, skirts or dress pants are requested for ladies.

THE BARS
The Main Bar is open from 10:00am to 1:00am. The Piano Bar opens for cocktails
at 6:30pm and closes when the last couple leaves for the evening. The bar at Bayside
is open during dining hours, and Tower Isle’s exclusive Private Island Bar is open from
9:00am to 5:00pm daily.

DINING
Breakfast: Enjoy open-air, beach-side dining at The Patio Restaurant. Choose from an array
of tropical fresh fruits and juices, cereals, pastries and made-to-order specialties. Open from
7:30am to 10:30am.
Continental Breakfast in Bed: Enjoy breakfast in bed or on your private balcony.
What better way to take in the sunrise?
Lunch: Join us for lunch at The Patio Restaurant and pamper your palate with our buffet
of delicious dishes. Open from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.
Dinner: Transform dinner from a meal to an experience by choosing from the following
six restaurants:
Bayside: Our casual and candle-lit Asian restaurant situated on the sea. Reservations required.
Open from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, except Saturday.
The Verandah: For those nights when you crave continental cuisine at its finest.

The Patio: Your source for Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. The Patio pleases both your

8 Rivers: A re-creation of the glamorous 1950’s era serving classic food while incorporating
local Jamaican and Caribbean ingredients. Make sure to request reservations at guest
services upon arrival to the hotel. Required Dress Code – [Resort Attire - Jeans, sneakers,
flip-flops and shorts are not permitted] Open 6:15pm to 9:00pm and closed Mondays.
The Pool Grill: The place for mid-day and late night food service. Enjoy casual fare in an easy-
going atmosphere and make your way to the adjoining terrace for a memorable meal under the
stars. Open daily 11:00am to 6:00pm and 10:30pm to 5:00am except on Monday and Saturday
when it is closed between 6:30pm and 11:00pm. (Beach Party and Poolside Gala Nights).
Veggie Bar: A delicious meal awaits you at this seaside café. Whether you’re a strict vegetarian or
just in search of an excellent natural dish, this is the place for you. Fresh fruits, fruit juices, vegetable

Land Sports: Five tennis courts (three of them lit and complimentary lessons from pros), table tennis, volleyball, Reggae
dance classes, horseback riding and golf (greens fees and transfers included with golf clubs, carts and mandatory
caddies available at an additional cost).
Water Sports: Wind surfing, Hobie Cats, Sunfish sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, water skiing, kayaking, glass-bottom
boat rides (instruction included in all).
Au Naturel Sunbathing: Tower Isle, our private au naturel island, is open from 9:00am - 4:00pm and has a full service
swim-up pool bar and snack service.
Indoor Games: Backgammon, cards, video games, flat screen TV with digital cable, dominoes, a variety of board games
and pool tables are all available in the Activities Room.
Fitness Center: Our gym is a state-of-the-art facility fully equipped with free weights, Life Cycles, Stairmasters and an

UNDERWATER ADVENTURES
A whole new world awaits your discovery beneath Jamaica’s warm waters. Couples Tower Isle scuba diving adventures and
resort certification courses are all included in your vacation package.* Divers will appreciate our state-of-the-art dive boat and
the active underwater world of Jamaica. Certified divers will need to show a certification card and pass a short swim test.
The resort staff reserves the right to refuse any persons from diving.
All necessary scuba gear is provided. Guests who wish to bring their own equipment are welcome to do so.
Underwater photographs are available for a nominal fee. For an additional fee, guests can even become PADI certified.
*Certified divers can dive once per day. A two-tank dive is offered once a week for certified divers only. For non-certified divers complimentary Resort
certification and one introductory dive is offered. Additional non-certified dives are $ 50 per person, subject to availability. PADI certifications, Advanced,

The Main Bar is open from 11:00am to 11:00pm. The Sunset Bar and Bamboo Bar, our two beach bars,

Complex Bar is open from 10:00am to 9:00pm. In the evening, enjoy cocktails at the Patois Patio Bar,

There are limits to how many off-property guests you can invite and the Resort must be notified
in advance. If more than 20 off-property guests plan to attend, you must first obtain resort General

REQUIREMENTS:
• The minimum legal age to be married in Jamaica is 18 years old.
• Notarized copy of your birth certificate AND photocopy of your passport or driver’s license.
Notarized proof of divorce, or notarized copy of death certificate for widow/widower must be
included where applicable. Notarized Adoption papers must also be included where applicable.
• The couple is required to be on property at least TWO DAYS in advance in order to finalize
wedding arrangements and apply for a marriage license.
• Non-refundable, administration, processing, government license and marriage certificate fees
of USD $200 are additional.

The ceremony must be booked and required documents must be received at least 30 days prior

The Issa Trust Foundation was established in 2005 by Couples Resorts as a nonprofit organization. The mission
of the Foundation is to provide a system of health promotion and education, community health improvement and
other services to promote well-being and development for the people of Jamaica.

The Foundation strives to provide an environment conducive to the educational needs of children in collaboration
with other community resources. Together, through educational and professional programs, we will work with and
advocate on behalf of families to provide a safe, nurturing and permanent home for children.

Goals and Objectives of the Foundation

The Issa Trust Foundation is dedicated to the belief that children are our most valuable natural resource,
and is excited to help make an impact on the youth of Jamaica in many positive ways. We will help keep them
in school, make learning a positive experience and promote the overall growth process. We will emphasize maximizing
positive potential, drug education and prevention, improving reading and writing skills and promoting social responsibility.
We will strive to provide excellent clinical care to infants, children, adolescents and adults across the full continuum
of care, all in a family-centered and service-driven environment. In partnership, we hold the key to their success
and intent to benefit the youth of Jamaica by:

• Promoting positive maternal, child, adolescent and family health values.

• Enhancing quality of life by promoting prevention and management of infectious and chronic disease.

Jamaica is blessed with beautiful weather on
a year-round basis, with average daytime
temperatures of 82°F and 28°C and average
nighttime temperatures of 72°F and 22°C.
MONEY MATTERS
The Jamaican dollar is the official monetary
unit in Jamaica. At Couples Resorts, we will
gladly exchange currency for our guests
on site. Keep in mind, however, that most
merchants will accept either U.S. dollars
or traveler’s checks, as well as major credit
cards such as Visa, MasterCard and
American Express.
IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS
U.S. and Caribbean citizens alike will need
a valid passport. All other international guests
will need to verify that they have the necessary
visa and/or documentation in order to come
and go in Jamaica.
NO TIPPING POLICY
Couples Resorts places a strong emphasis on
our No Tipping Policy. Outside of our resorts,
tipping is customary for all airport baggage
personnel, taxi drivers, etc.
TRANSPORTATION IS INCLUDED
At Couples Resorts, everything is included
even transportation to and from our properties.
You will be transferred to and from Montego Bay
Airport in the comfort of an air-conditioned
vehicle. And when the day comes for you to say
goodbye, our Guest Services Department will
gladly confirm your return flight.
TO YOUR HEALTH
All Couples Resorts offer on-site nursing
services, free of charge. In the event of a
serious illness or injury, a doctor is on call
24 hours a day. Guest is responsible for
doctor visits and required medication, if any.
LAUNDRY SERVICE
Dinner disaster? Sweaty sojourn? Whatever
the cause, Couples Resorts offers laundry
and dry cleaning services for a modest fee.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
