Method Statement

Concure LP90
Section A : General Comments l Comments High temperature working

constructive solutions

It is suggested that, for temperatures above 35C, the following guidelines are adopted as good working practice: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature controlled) environment, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight. Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if necessary. It is especially important to keep cool those surfaces of the equipment which will come into direct contact with the material itself. Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading as necessary. Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a continuous process.

Equipment It is suggested that the following list of equipment is adopted as a minimum requirement.

Application - points of note

Fosroc operates a policy to encourage the use, where possible, of approved or licensed applicators. This ensures that repairs are completed satisfactorily so that the long-term performance of the materials is assured. For contractors who wish to apply the materials themselves Fosroc is also able to offer technical assistance and training. Section B : Application Method

1.0

Preparation

1.1

The concrete surface should be fresh and free of surface water. Please ensure that there is no formations of bleed water prior to commencing application. For new hardened concrete, (after demoulding), the surface should be wet before commencing application. Dry surface will prove a problem in removing the curing membrane and will leave stains. 2.1

Use knapsack type spray equipment for applying Concure LP90 and it will give a continuous and uniform surface appearance. Maintain pump pressure to give an even spray. Stir the material well before commencing application. By stirring, there should be an even dispersal of the pigment. The spray nozzle should be held at a distance of 450mm from the concrete substrate and passed back and forth to ensure complete coverage. There will be a fugitive white colour formation on the application, which will help in recognizing the applied areas. The application should be continuous and should provide an unbroken membrane. Care should be taken that the surface is not trafficked until the membrane dries completely and the concrete attains its trafficable strength.

constructive solutions 3.0 Overcoating 3.1 Prior to overcoating always ensure that the curing membrane is completely removed as it affects the bonding of the coating. Although Concure LP90 will disintegrate with normal wear and tear of trafficking and UV exposure, ensure that the curing membrane is completely removed by jet blasting the substrate with steam or water.

Cleaning

4.1 4.2

Cleaning with water will remove the Concure LP90 from the tools and equipment. Clean with Nitoflor Sol to remove the wax from the nozzle.

Section C : Approval and variations This method statement is offered by Fosroc as a standard proposal for the application of Concure LP90. It remains the responsibility of the Engineer to determine the correct method for any given application. Where alternative methods are to be used, these must be submitted to Fosroc for approval, in writing, prior to commencement of any work. Fosroc will not accept responsibility or liability for variations to the above method statement under any other condition.
