Dear Participant, At this stage we should start making some light academic preparations ir order to get full value from the programme. We would be very pleased if you could prepare for the following activities and tasks: 1. PROFESSIONAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY: A Professional Autobiography is a reflection on your professional situation and development and, for our purpose, a way of introducing yourself to your colleagues and tutors in the programme. Please read and answer the prompts in the attached document Professional_Autobiography_IRELAND2013.doc and email it to english@englishmatters.eu to be delivered to your course Tutor at least one week before course commencement. 2. SHARING TEACHING RESOURCES: The programme offers the opportunity to share teaching experience with colleages. To prepare for this aspect of the programme we wish to ask participants to bring with them resources they use in teaching their favorite topic: texts, tasks, activities, materials, etc. This will give us teachers a forum to talk about our best practice. These samples of successful materials that you use in teaching your students will be shared with your colleagues in the programme. 3. EUROPEAN NETWORKING: One important feature of our programme is that it provides an opportunity for participants to contact partners for individual or institutional links or for participation learning partnerships and projects. Provisions are made to allow participants to share their ideas and information about partnerships or projects they might like to be involved in within a European dimension. Also, participants who have already had experience of links and exchanges or of participation in school partnerships or other similar projects, are most welcome if they decide to make their experience available to others. A PowerPoint presentation or a small talk will be great. Maximum 5 slides for presentation (about 5-10 minutes). 4. A TASTE OF EUROPEAN FOOD!: A Food Evening is held on the second day of the programme. Participants will get together and celebrate the richness of their different cultures with small samples of food (typical food, sweets or drinks). We will have an international buffet! This activity will provide a great opportunity for intercultural exchange and it will give participants the chance to meet and make new friends from the beginning of the programme. Should you wish to prepare for the Intercultural Food Evening you should bring food which doesn't need to be cooked and, of course, you don't need to bring too much food. Should you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Best wishes, English Matters Co-ordination Team Pedagogic Section
