    The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at La Universidad Del Rosario in Bogotá (Colombia) is opening two full-time faculty positions for supporting and strengthening its research activities in Applied Mathematics and Computer Sciences. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and a good record of recently published research results. Interdisciplinary research experiences, abilities in mathematical modeling and a deep knowledge in computer systems will be highly regarded. Faculty members must develop a clear and strong research program and they must teach two undergraduate courses per semester. A wide set of topics in Applied Mathematics or Computer Sciences will be considered, some examples are Optimization, Systems Control, Operations Research, Stochastic Simulation, Numerical Analysis, Applied Analysis, Image and Signal Processing, Computer Vision, Computational Mechanics, Data Mining, Data Analysis, Robotics, Applied Probability, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Scientific Computing, Grid Technology, Pattern Recognition, Parallel and Distributed Computing, Transport Models, Cryptography, Coding Theory, Algorithms Performance, Complexity, Networks and Communications, Computer Organization, Formal Languages, Compilers, Systems Architecture, Mathematical Physics, Differential Geometry and Theoretical Biology. The application form should be written in English or Spanish and include: 1) A detailed CV with a complete list of publications and teaching experience. 2) A research statement including the research program that will be developed. 3) The names, the institutional affiliations, and the emails of two outstanding scientists who can be asked for recommendation letters about the applicant’s Ph.D. studies, research works or previous research positions. The salary is competitive for both local and international standards and it will be decided according to the applicant’s experience and research merits. These positions will be for one year with the option of becoming permanent depending on performance. Non-Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply as they will be allowed to improve their communication skills within the first year.
