Presidents Message
Well 2012-13 was another exciting year for RKCC! Not only were our sports teams successful on the ice, on the fields and in the gymnasiums but we once again saw an increase in the number of participants involved in our various Adult Fitness programs. Attendance at our monthly Preteen dances, which encompasses the grades 4, 5 & 6 age groups, averaged over 145 per event! On top of that figure, numbers involved in our Karate and Dance programs also increased which can only signify that RKCC is South Winnipegs centre of activity for a wide variety of age groups. To cap off 2012-13, we were able to finally satisfy the wishes of many hockey and Ringette fans by completing the arena insulation project. In 2013-14, we certainly dont plan on resting on our laurels. RKCCs Recreation Director, Murray Harding, has introduced three new Adult Fitness programs that will undoubtedly attract new faces to the centre. Information about these programs can be found on pages 3 & 4 of the newsletter. We also have six (6) major projects on our Wish List that we will begin to address this August. These projects include, the upgrade of the arena glass on the east side of the rink, the shoring up of the rink boards in the northeast corner, the upgrade of our electrical components for our ice plant and the

South Winnipeg Community Centres Exploring Amalgamation

The Board of Directors of Richmond Kings, Waverley Heights and St. Norbert Community Centres have all approved motions regarding the possible amalgamation of the three Centres resulting in a shared governance and programming model. This would result in efficiencies in services and costs, expanded and enhanced program delivery and increased partnership opportunities to best serve the residents of South Winnipeg. We would like to invite South Winnipeg residents to a community meeting to discuss and review the concept of amalgamating the three Centres.
