Everybody likes to live in an environment which is pollution free. But, in todays world, finding this kind of environment is next to impossible. Not only today, but it was also hard to find during our 90s when there was less chemical usage. This has been promoted through the movie Erin Brockovich. Erin Brocokvich is a 2000 biographical film directed by Steven Soderbergh. This film is a dramatization of true story of Erin Brockovich, who fought against Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). The movie was casted in Hinckley California in 1993. The movie had matured /adult content in some scenes and it largely focuses on the issue of water contamination resulting in deaths of people. In 1993, Erin Brockovich is an unemployed single mother of three children, who has recently been injured in a traffic accident with a doctor and is suing him. Her lawyer, Ed Masry expects to win, but Erins attitude in the courtroom makes her lose the case. She tells Ed that he should find her a job in compensation. Ed hires her as a file clerk in his office. While working, Erin sees the file in a pro bono real estate case in which Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is offering to purchase the home of Hinckley, California, resident Donna Jensen. Erin is surprised to see medical records in the file and visits Donna, who explains that she had simply kept all her PG&E correspondence together. Donna appreciates PG&E's help: she has had several tumors and her husband has Hodgkins disease, but PG&E has always supplied a doctor at their own expense. Erin asks why they would do that, and Donna replies, "because of the chromium". Erin starts to investigate the case and soon finds evidence that the groundwater in Hinckley is contaminated with dangerous hexavalent chromium. She persuades Ed to allow her further research. Hence, she starts fighting for the people of Hinckley to get them their compensation money from PG&E. As a main actress of the movie, Erin Brockovich played by Julia Roberts (Oscar winner) did a pretty good job. The way she investigated the case and the way she got PG&E to its knees, was just up to the mark. She did a fabulous job. Also, the way she managed her home, work and babies was just fabulous. She is vulnerable, full of self-doubt and self-confidence. Moreover, Ed Masry played by Albert Finney, also did a pretty good job as a lawyer because of the way he followed Erins suggestions for solving the case. He was also a good-hearted man (as lawyers go), a bit scared by the force of Brockovich's personality but at the end of the day, his goal was to do the right thing. He also proved himself as a helping

hand for Erin. Furthermore, the supporting cast, which includes Conchata Ferrell as a secretary, Peter Coyote as an arrogant lawyer and Aaron Eckhart as Brockovich's gentle boyfriend, is solid. They all did a stupendous job. The movie was overall really a nice one. The only worst part was the swearing throughout the movie, because nowadays media is playing a vital role in promoting these things. Secondly, it can also have an adverse effect on teenagers. But, the best part was the knowledge about hexavalent chromium and its effects on people, because even though industries use certain chemicals, they are usually more likely to have less knowledge about them. The movie teaches me to always hope for the best. Secondly, it also teaches me to be brave and courageous, and always fight for our rights. The forth most themes focused in the movie were courage, hard work and also, to never lose hope. This movie will hopingly become a lesson for the viewers, teaching them to never lose hope, because if you lose hope, you lose everything. The way Erin convinces the people of Hinckley, the way she wins their trust, all needs hard work and patience. Moreover, it shows that people should have courage to do certain things. The way Erin gives more importance to her work, even though she does that for her kids, and less importance to children, needs courage. It needs courage for any mother to ignore her children. Moreover, she always remained strong, even though she was alone. This movie is specifically recommended for a group of people who cares about environment, and for people who never sat quiet if they observed something wrong going on around them. Moreover, it is strictly recommended for adults and not for children, because it is based on the environmental issues and it has adult contents, and bad humour. The movie would be rated as 8 stars out of 10.
