VITAL TO THE VALLEY

WARNORS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2013

VCC BOARD CHAIR WELCOME

Welcome to the Seventh Annual Valley Cultural Coalition ConferenceVital to the Valley: YOU Make it Happen. The emphasis on you is deliberate and celebratory. You are the reason we exist. You are making the cultural arts happen in the Central Valley, and we want everyone to know about the vital work you are doing. We are delighted to have as part of todays lineup both David Mas Masumoto, a one-man-band of Valley cultural arts representation (organic peach farmer, poet, best-selling author, nationally recognized arts advocate) and Luis Herrera, similarly multi-tasking in the northern part of the state (San Francisco City Librarian, chair of CAL Humanities board, member of the National Museum and Library Services board). We are also delighted to be benefiting from the expertise of several presenting organizations, including Central Valley Dance, EMQ Families First, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Madera Arts Council, the Selma Arts Center, University High School, ValleyPBS, and the Youth Orchestras of Fresno, and to be supported by the Bonner Family Foundation, ValleyPBS, Arte Americas, and the Warnors Center. We are of course especially delighted to have you here. You are making it happen, and that is making all the difference. Thank you! Julia Copeland, VCC Chair
