Via Dinarica is a route that passes through the most attractive mountain areas of the Dinaric Alps, linking the Western Balkan countries of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and Albania. The luscious nature of this region is ornate with rugged karst landscapes, dense alpine forests, deep canyon gorges, and breathtaking sights. Via Dinarica itself is a platform that serves to promote and develop the local communities and small businesses active locally, nationally, and internationally in the field of hospitality, tourism, agriculture, and cultural heritage, by connecting the countries and communities of the Dinaric Alps and offering a unique and diversified tourist product. The Western Balkan region is a nature lovers paradise. Most of the region is located in the heart of the central Dinaric Alps one of Europes most unexplored mountain ranges. Each country offers a vast range of activities, from adventure to relaxation, on both land and water. Hiking, biking and trekking are popular activities, and whitewater rafting is a well-developed adventure sport. Although one may have to look a bit harder, the effort is worth it

This first transDinaric route, spanning the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, provides ample opportunities for exploring the nature, history and culture of the region, and allows visitors to experience the shared Dinaric way of life. Pause at the top of the col, bunk with the katun owners who will treat you to their locally grown food, take a dip in the refreshing, plentiful rivers where water is clean enough to drink, climb some of the highest mountaintops in the western Balkan, and slide down some of the deepest and undiscovered canyons of the world. The exploration of this final frontier of pristine nature promises to be an adventure of a lifetime.
