AIESEC provides university students and recent graduates the opportunity to work abroad, develop leadership skills, build a personal network, and explore the direction and ambition of their future. AIESECs innovative approach of developing young people focuses on taking a proactive role, developing self-awareness and personal vision, building networks and developing capacity to drive change. AIESECs partner organizations look at AIESEC as a way to support the development of young people. Facts about AIESEC: Founded in 1948 6 continents 104 countries 1100 universities 28.000 members 5.000 leadership positions per year 4.400 work abroad experiences per year 800.000 alumni Facts about AIESEC in Victoria: More 40 members More than 150 registered Alumni More than 20 leadership positions annually Over 8 exchanges annually Major Projects: The annual University Career Fair in partnership with Career Services, Global Village in Conjunction with International and Exchange Student Services. Host of the Coastal Conference 2009 attended by over 100 delegates from UVic, UBC, SFU, Kwantlen Polytechnic students from Canada as well as international delegates from Washington and Oregon State Various Workshops, Discussions organized throughout the year

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PROJECT DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Project Overall Aim: The overall aim of Western Regional Conference 2009 is to help young and talented individuals get prepared to take leadership roles in their own local committees, by enriching their educational experience through training, networking and explorations into the professional world. Through sessions run by professionals as well AIESECs internal members and Alumni we seek to offer an intense and challenging experience to university student s who want to be on the cutting edge of the compe titive professional world and are also desirous of engaging with society to have a positive impact. Facts about Western Regional Conference 2009: Dates: 16th 18th October 2009 200 high potential University Students Over 8 universities from Canadas Western Region Major Expectations: Corporate and Youth Networking Networking with Alumni W orkshops in soft skills areas such as team management, communications etc. Functional training to run the AIESEC Exchange program Western Regional Conference 2009 GOALS: Professional development of over 200 university students through various sessions Deliberations on how youth can have maximum impact on society with focus on international cooperation and understanding Self assessment and goal setting for attendees Career Explorations in the challenging Economic environment Role of AIESEC in society

Challenge your worldview: A group discussion style session discussing issues of global importance and how AIESEC can have a tanglible impact on them. Participants share ideas on projects and activities that can be executed in their local committees or through international collaboration. 2. Portfolio Village: Members are introduced to various AIESEC functions and asked to participate in activities that helps them choose the right function/portfolio in AIESEC for the next while. 3. Soft Skills /LeadershipTraining: Session delivered by Professionals from the industry or Academia on topics such as Time Management, leadership, Diversity management etc. In the Past we have had top level executives, Olympians and illustrious AIESEC alumni deliver this. 4. AIESEC Impact: AIESECers discuss Best Case Practices where AIESEC has had an impact in community it operates in. 5. Alumni Advantage: Participants get tips from Alumni on how to be succesfull in their chosen fields and an opportunity to network and benefit from the vast Alumni network.
