Should you be elected, what are three specific areas you'd like to change, address, improve or further research

and how specifically would you go about it?

I have been walking Ward 1 for the past few months and the concerns that I hear most often are: Safety; Low taxes; Good schools. Our police, fire and other city services do an excellent job of responding to our needs and Ward 1 residents are very grateful. I support regionalization and collaboration if it optimizes our resources and does not compromise the level of service we have become accustomed to. Many municipalities are exploring ways to share resources that affect our bottom line. For instance, employment and law related services and computer related services can be shared between cities as well as engineering and building inspection services. Fire inspection duties is another area that should be explored as fire inspectors require a certain training and experience that is not city specific. Ward 1 residents want their taxes to remain low and they want to see that their tax dollars are spent wisely. Westlake is nearly built out so the constant increase in fees that has fed the general fund will be slowing down. We need to continue to plan for this. It is also important to keep industry here in Westlake, we do not want companies to leave the city for tax abatements in other cities. Finally, Ward 1 residents recognize the need for a strong public school system. They know that without strong schools, their property values will decrease. Youth are our future and I will also advocate for our libraries and recreation centers and expanded partnerships between the City of Westlake and Westlake City Schools.

Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?
I am always reaching above and beyond what is expected and with the highest of standards. I consistently demonstrate professionalism and a collaborative attitude, paired with creativity, innovation, and efficiency. I have already contributed to several improvements throughout my work that have helped to make a positive impact for my employer, my city and others. Examples of my demonstrated leadership include: co-chair of Relay for Life; co-founder of two non-profit organizations targeting parent education about risky teen behaviors; spear heading the project to update the Westlake Schools' website. I have a keen business and marketing sense, a high level of technical expertise and a positive energy about me. My proactive approach, consistent follow-up, attention to detail and my ability to consider all stakeholders needs and roles will allow me to contribute to the effective running of our city and needs of Ward 1. I plan to listen to the concerns of Ward 1, ask questions to gain understanding, and make thoughtful decisions that benefit the most people while keeping the goals of the city and the needs of the ward in balance.
