Environment
NDMP on Network Appliance hosts with local tape drives and hared torage !ption. on the NetApp co""and line run 9 options tape.reservation 3f the result indicates either :off: or :persistent: we need to change this to :scsi: b; running 9options tape.reservation scsi <his "ust be co"pleted on all Network Appliance hosts sharing the drives. 3t allows the" to issue scsi reservations on the tape drives while the; are writing backups to those drives. <his prevents other hosts fro" accessing the drives and interrupting running backups.

Cause
!ther hosts "a; atte"pt to =uer; a tape device while it is being written to during a backup. 3f the 6 3 reservation is not in place then the drive cannot keep track of the block counts fro" the backup and when a block position check in Net5ackup occurrs the drive>s block count will not "atch the calculated block count which will result in the ?nexpected Event caused rewind.

Solution
3nsure all Network Appliance hosts have the following setting when drives are shared. 9 options tape.reservation scsi 0iler na"e* NDMP server na"e/99 options tape.reservations tape.reservations scsi
