SS Officers Fateful Finger- If he pointed left it meant crematorium death, if he pointed right it meant a shower.

Little Hope- The sick and the feeble were immediately sent to the camps fitted with gas chambers and crematoriums.

Numbers Game- Prisoners were stripped of their names and possessions, and were issued a number which was their new identification.
Naked Showers- Beatings for those who tried to hide items Collective curiosity as to what will happen next. Harsh Conditions- Intolerable sleeping conditions, unable to wash body or clean teeth for days at a time, and forced to wear the same clothes for months on end.

When did the Holocuast begin?


The Holocuast began in 1933 when Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany and ended in 1945 the the Nazis were defeated by the Allied powers.

How many people lost their lives during the Holocaust?


It was estimated 11 million people were killed during the Holocuast. Six million of these were Jews. An estimated 1.1 million children were killed during the Holocaust.

Hope
It was the talk of politics, religion, food, and humor that sweetened the bitter taste of scorn and neglect that marked every moment of their battered lives. Dr. Frankl constantly reminded the men that their past was as significant as their future. The past held memories of great thoughts and accomplishments, while the future beckoned with the prospect of finishing lingering projects and reuniting with loved ones.

History- The past should neither be forgotten or ignored.

Future- It is in out hands. We must choose wisely or face the consequences of our actions.

What does the term Holocaust mean?


The term Holocaust, original from the Greek word holokauston which means sacrifice by fire, refers to the Nazis persecution and planned slaughter of the Jewish people. The Hebrew word Shoah, which means devastation, ruin, or waste, is also used for this genocide.

How many camps were built during the Holocaust?


The Nazis built six extertermination camps: Chelmno, Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, Auschwitz, and Majdanek
