Visiting Teaching Corner

This Months message is: I Will Not Fail Thee, nor Forsake Thee by President Thomas S. Monson, October General Conference Our Heavenly Father ! knows that we learn and grow and become stronger as we face and survive the trials through which we must pass. Only the Master knows the depths of our trials, our pain, and our suffering. He alone offers us eternal peace in times of adversity. He alone touches our tortured souls with His comforting words: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Whether it is the best of times or the worst of times, He is with us. He has promised that this will never change.

Presidency Message
He who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious. (Doctrine and Covenants 78:19) We have enjoyed a beautiful fall. The weather could not have been lovelier. As Ive been out and about I have marveled at the rich colors of autumn and been reminded of why I love this time of year. How grateful I am for this beautiful world that Heavenly Father created for us! Gratitude is such a simple thing, but often we get so busy that we forget to be grateful. The Lord wants you to have a spirit of gratitude in all you do and say. Live with a spirit of thanksgiving and you will have greater happiness and satisfaction in life. Gratitude will turn your heart to the Lord and help you recognize His influence and blessings in your life. Even in your most difficult times, you can find much to be grateful for. Doing so will strengthen and bless you. (from For the Strength of Youth website) Let us commit today to live with a spirit of thanksgiving.

The grateful man sees so much in the world to be thankful for, and with him the good outweighs the evil. Love overpowers jealousy, and light drives darkness out of his life!Pride destroys our gratitude and sets up selfishness in its place. How much happier we are in the presence of a grateful and loving soul, and how careful we should be to cultivate, through the medium of a prayerful life, a thankful attitude toward God and man! The 10 Ward Relief Society Theme for 2013 is: Drawing Closer to Christ. D&C 88:63 Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Elder Bernard P. Brockbank called this process of asking, seeking, and knocking a God-given formula on how to reach and know your Heavenly Father and your Savior, Jesus Christ (Be Worthy of Celestial Exaltation, in Speeches of the Year, 1974 [Provo:
Brigham Young University Press, 1975], pp. 37879).
