It is my constant prayer that we, who belong to

Christ can stand fast in the Lord in this time of

the Sunset Beach Church and School grounds) tjith 18 young people becbifd.hg Christians* As the campers sat on the beach at sundown, watching the glory of God's handitrork, listeningas Harold Bumside and Owen Still brought the vesper messages, deciding to .
live for Christ, we who were leada^s were thrilled as never before x^hen we witnessed

world stress and strain. There is no peace outside of Christ, It is a time of rejoicing for us as wehave completed 2 weeks of .Hawaiian Christian Camp (held at

the sincerity of their desires. These came from Maile, Makaha, Kaimuki, Kalihi, Hauula, Palolo, Wahiawa, Pearl HarboE, And Sunset Beqch, To witness a baptism in the ocean at dusk, with the singing of haiwoniaus voices, is. a scene we can never forget. We "oalked
"Shark's Cove", a nearby bay, singing their favorite chorus, "Cum Bah Ta, Ity Lord," (Come ^ Here) It has been a time of rejoicing for us at the School because 5 baptisms since Jan
uary are a result of the teaching and influence of the school, Jean Pearson, a 6th

grade student who had only 1 year at Sunset Beach, wanted permission from her parents

(military) to be baptized into Christ. In January she became a Christian and such joy
shone on her face. She continued faithfully until she moved to the Mainland, this summer.
On May 29, Susan Ni:mi,6th grade student, (from one of the oldest families and from

Buddhist background) courageously stepped out to become a ehristian. For a year she has had this desire. Her mother attend and will become a member soon, Cheryl Navarro,
a little Filipino girl, who has been in our school dTor 5 years made her confession at camp. She lives with her Apo(grandmother) near the church, has a Catholic background,
and had her mother's permission to become a Christian only. The mother of one of our Kindergarten students x-iras baptized in July just before she moved to Wahiawa- she is

working in the Christian church there. The daughter of an Anoy Major, Diane Tyler, attended school last year and has attended camp for 2 summers- this year she brought
a friend and both were ba|)tized. Many of our students haved moved to Post at Schofield Barracks this simmer but

we are enrolling new students. We afe encourage to work harder than ever. So many of you haved helped in many ways that we know that you will rejoice with us over the vict

ories for Chrisi, Teachers Allene Miller and Carolyn Hart spent 6 weeks at the University of Hawaii and 2 weeks at Palolo Valley Vacation Bible School| Guen Griffith has been
on a busy furlough on the Mainland; Glen Powells, Don Roths, Eleanor Sprankles, and I have bad a busy summer in V.B.S'e end camp. Our V.B.S, was large- over 100 children
were enrolled. I'-iission offerings counted to 132,00 and were sent to Indian Missions in Arizona jand Washington. Reports from all over the Island show that attendance at

V.B.S. was high- over 100 at Maile, Palolo, 50 at Makaha, 30 at Hauula, Harold Bumside at Maile reports that a whole family(Filipino) were baptized because one of the
church women brought them to church and taught them. This sounds like a. conversion from the New Testament, George Hope , a young man who went from theMaile church to I^. Christian College for 3 years , is now the minister at the Makaha Mission. Two young people from Maile are going back to Ky, C.C, after a summer spent workingTn our churches, ELanor 04ake will be returning to Ky. C.C, this year,She is from the
Hauula 14ission. Eleanor and Dick Osness have returned to the Island to take over the Pearl Harbor Church.

On July ^th, "we'hoisted our hew $0

star flag- proudly it waves in the breezes

over our school. At the same time, the new steeple on the church building was put upj

to me by my father and mother in 1951. I have

Lord as I did- my other car. I appreciate more than I can write about, your gifts of love and money that made it possible for me to buy it, I speak of it as mine, but moire than ever I realize that nothing is "mine"- only the Lord's. So, accept my sincere thanks for this unexpected gift. I was completely surprised when the Stills gave me
a check representing gifts from many Christians-some whom I did not know. you richly. ,

was strengthened because of this child's faith. This has taken, me througha lot of

It

is not impossible. The equipment and buildings need not be on par xr?.th public schools but could be sufficient. Our intermediate grade children are pressing us for a 9th grade as they do not want to leave this school and go to a larger public schoolo If x^e could secure a 9th grade teacher, xje xrould consider adding the 9th grade to our elementary and junior high grades# Rray with us - Tito of our classrooms xfhich were built for 10 small children now are crox-jded with 13 large children,^ Don Roth and Glen Fox-jell cleared the hillside and are erccting another cement block building adjacent to the Haley Building.
