ANTARCTICA

JOURNAL

Day One
YES! Finally Im going to ANTARCTICA! With Dad and I And its only four days until we go on Dads strong, yellow and fast Ice breaker. My brother, Norman and mum are pretty sad, but there still glad that Im going to Antarctica. I will see Penguins, Seals, and Killer Whales. I wont see polar bears; they only live in the Arctic

Day Three
I didnt write in my journal yesterday because I was so busy packing everything that I needed like a Extra warm jacket, Snow boots, Extra warm tracksuit pants, goggles, my star wars book, my book light, beanie, scarf, moon boots, insulated wind proof gloves, thermal long underwear, polar fleece jumper torch and my drink bottle. I know it could be -74 and did you know the coldest recording was -90? My whole family flew to New Zealand to wave goodbye and to get to Dads icebreaker. When we got there we saw Dads icebreaker it is HUGE!

Day Four
Were at the Invercargill airport in New Zealand and Ive seen Dads icebreaker it is SO BIG! Its about the size of a football field and five storeys tall. Then I went inside it has twenty bedrooms, two dining rooms, three kitchens and one bridge. It can take twenty people, a lot of cargo, a lot of food and water. My bedroom has one bed and a bed light above where you sleep. Its like a little cubby. So later on we were in a rough sea and I was up and down in my bed all night and I couldnt go to sleep until midnight even if I went to bed at eight oclock.

Day Five
Today the sea wasnt so rough so I can tell you everyone on board so there five electricians, two doctors, eight engineers, one artist, ten hands on deck men, and one captain... dad! When we were having lunch I spotted my first icebergs with Adele penguins out the porthole. When we got to land we got stuck and Dad told me never mind, we planned this anyway so we can got EXPLORING! When we went outside dad threw the end of the ladder over board, dad went down first. When I was half way there I felt scared I told dad and dad shouted out Never mind, The more faster, the more better when I got on land it felt like passing into a another world and I felt sick and its because Ive been on a ship for a long time and you get your sea legs (When you get used to the rocking on the ship) and when youre on land you feel sick because the land is still.

Day Six
Today I started to know the artist some more her name is Luis Salinger. We both went to her drawing room, and it is very small with a lot of paintings on the wall. I drew two pictures than dad called me to go outside with him. It looked like there was going to be a storm and to prove it dad had a look at the weather forecast and it looks like were in for a long night. Every time a big wave came and hit the side of the ship it sometimes sounded like a huge rock hitting the icebreaker.

Day Eight
I didnt write in my journal yesterday because it was so bumpy that my writing was messy and that I was so tired and tomorrow we SHOULD (not) leave Antarctica.

Day Nine
Today it was VERY windy and the wind moved the floating ice so we could leave (I wish it didnt but, Better to be safe than sorry).

So we started to get moving fast. A Seal poked its head up from the pled ice, it stared at me and I gave it a wink.

Day Ten
Well, Im standing were I was a week ago and Im quite sad about leaving Antarctica but we had to leave because its very cold in Antarctica so we didnt freeze. Its sad to end this journal and I only have four pages left but Ill just leave it for now, BYE!

The End.
