Study Guide #33 Signs and Wonders 1.In the context of Matthew 24, what was the first warning that Jesus gave? Matthew 24:3-4 > And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, ____ ____ that no man ________ you. NOTE: This is a very sad text, deception is going to be the order of the day, and the other problem is that even the elect can be deceived. So it is a very intricate web which Satan has spun upon this planet. 2.According to the book of Revelation, how are the masses going to be deceived?

Revelation 16:13-14 > And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working _________, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. NOTE: Demonic forces working amongst men to deceive them, and the only safeguard we have against any of this is the word of God. This is why it is imperative that when any miracle is worked in the name of God, we apply the Biblical tests to see if the miracle was truly from God. 3.Who are the ones that are primarily targeted for these demonic deceptions? Matthew 24:24 > For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great _____ and ________; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall ________ the very ______. NOTE: These deceptive miracles are primarily targeted toward the elect or the chosen of God. These deceptions look so much like the real thing, that only a thorough and experiential knowledge of the Scriptures will stand the test. 4.Why would Satan want to work miracles in order to deceive? Most Christians assume that Sunday is the biblically approved day of worship. The Roman Catholic Church protests that it transferred Christian worship from the biblical Sabbath (Saturday) to Sunday, and that to try to argue that the change was made in the Bible is both dishonest and a denial of Catholic authority. If Protestantism wants to base its teachings on the Bible, it should worship on Saturday. NOTE: The reason why Satan will use miracles in the last days

is to deceive billions on the Sabbath Issue, by proclaiming that Sunday is the Lords Day because Jesus rose on that day. To many people this is a logical reason to keep Sunday, but as we have already seen from the Bible, it is not a Biblical reason. 5.What is Rome in essence challenging in regard to the SabbathSunday issue? NOTE: Is it challenging people or is it challenging Gods word? Yes, its challenging Gods word, and we just happen to be caught in the middle of the battle, thats all. You will remember that the Catholic Sentinel had this article where it says, People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists and keep Saturday holy. And, of course this article on Mary online where the editor said, Either the Catholic Church is right, or the Seventh Day Adventists are right. There can be no other choice. That was an amazing statement, what a bomber, you cannot believe it. And if one chooses neither, then the whole doctrine of Sola Scriptura collapses, alright, so whats the argument about? The veracity of the word of God, now it just happens to be that the Bible predicted that a group of people will come at the end of time and will stand on Sola Scriptura, and will stand for the Lord as it is described in the Bible. And if you choose neither than Sola Scriptura collapses. Now, how does an organization that does not rely on Sola Scriptura, how does it defend itself when it comes with false doctrines? Whats left when you take the word away? Tradition, and if that is not going to convince the people, what do you need? You need signs and wonders, you may you need events that will convince people that this is the truth. 6.In review (from a previous study guide), what is the judgment based on? James 1:25 > But whoso looketh into the perfect ____ of ___ _____, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer,

but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 2:12 > So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be ________ by the law of liberty. 7.How many laws today are prominent in the Christian World? NOTE: There are two laws in the world today, two sets of laws. The one set of laws is in the Bible, the other set of laws is where? Who made those? Roman Catholicism, and that is very strange. The Bible says, If you love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 That is a question of authority.

Whos authority are we going to accept? Well obviously if you believe in Sola Scriptura, youre going to follow the authority of the Bible which is the authority of Jesus Christ. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:12. So, here is this one group at the end of time. What is the testimony of Jesus? You will remember that we went through that text, it is The spirit of prophecy Revelation 19:10, we did a whole lecture on that. So the two distinguishing characteristics of Gods remnant church are: 1. It keeps the commandments of God. 2. And have the testimony of Jesus, which is the spirit of prophecy. And the Sabbath of course, in the commandments of God, is going to become pivotal. That they might be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them And not some other, Ezekiel 20:12. So here is our choice. And if we make no decision, then which side are we on? 8.What is part and parcel of worshipping the beast? Revelation 14:9 > And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man _________ the beast and his

image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, NOTE: If you start thinking like him, believing him, or just obeying him, then you are worshipping him. And then this indignation will be poured out that we spoke about. So this wine of the wrath of God will be poured out and there will be a terrible consequence to this action. Now weve dealt with this already so Im just briefly summing it up here before I set the stage for the two organizations, the two ideologies coming into conflict. The Pope has power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ. Decretal De Translat. Espiscop. Cap. That is one of their decretals, so obviously if youre going to believe in Sola Scriptura, then you will say that this is presumption, that is not biblical. Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters. Letter, Oct. 28, 1895, from C.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons. So they say, We changed it. Sunday is our mark of authority So Sabbath Sunday is the clash point, its the question of a day, as we have said, its the authority of God thats being questioned. Either Sola Scriptura or the word of another system, Catholicism. The Church is above the Bible, so the attack is on God and his word, we must not see this attack as a personal attack, this is an attack on God. Who does the devil hate more than anyone else in the universe? This is an attack on Jesus Christ, nothing other, this is his total onslaught. And this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact. Catholic Record. September 1, 1923.

9.According to the Bible, what is truth?

Psalm 119:142 > Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy ___ is the truth. Psalm 119:151 > Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy _______ ______ are truth. John 14:6 > Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the ______, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. John 17:17 > Sanctify them through thy truth: thy ____ is truth. NOTE: You cannot separate Jesus from the law, you cannot separate Jesus from the word. To reject the law, to reject the Word, is to reject Jesus. 10.Will Jesus change His mind regarding the Sabbath issue? Hebrews 13:8 > Jesus Christ the ____ yesterday, and to day, and for ever. NOTE: Hes not going to change, and definitely hes not going to allow his vicar to throw the Holy Scriptures aside. 11.According to the Bible, who is the only mediator between God and man? 1 Timothy 2:5 > For there is one God, and ___ _______ between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; NOTE: There is only one mediator, Jesus Christ. 12.Who was proclaimed to be a mediaitrix by Roman Catholicism in 1854? ANSWER: The sinner that ventures directly to Christ may come with dread and apprehension of his wrath; but let him only

employ the mediation of the Virgin with her Son and she has only to show that Son the breasts that gave him suck and his wrath will immediately be appeased. (Catholic Layman July, 1856). But while in the most Blessed Virgin the Church has already reached that perfection whereby she exists without spot or wrinkle, the faithful still strive to conquer sin and increase in holiness. And so they turn their eyes to Mary. In her, the Church is already the all-holy. Roman Catholic Catechism, article 8:29. NOTE: The Bible says there is but one intercessor between man and God, the man Christ Jesus, isnt that right? You see the two ideologies are not on line with each other? Jesus is being marginalized in the world, ridiculed, the word is ridiculed. Every aspect of the word, just think of it. The scientific aspect of the word, is it ridiculed in the world today, yes or no? Absolutely! The archeological evidence in the world, is it ridiculed in the world today? Absolutely! What about the historical aspects of the word, are they being ridiculed? Yes. What about the salvation aspects of the word? Are they being ridiculed? Yes, in fact theyre making it as hard as possible for someone to say, Sola Scriptura and not be denigrated to the lunatic fringe.

13.What does the Papacy believe in regard to the creation

account found in the book of Genesis? Time magazine, The Pope gives his blessing to Natural Selection, though mans soul remains beyond sciences reach.
