Enur Hayati, Phonological Integration of English Loan-words into Bahasa Indonesia. Thesis. Jakarta: Letters and Humanities Faculty, State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah, January 2009. This research is a study of Phonological Integration of English loan-words into Bahasa Indonesia which uses a descriptive qualitative method. The samples are taken randomly by the writer from a dictionary of Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (fourth edition). The thesis examines the process of word integration into the recipient language at phonological level especially phonemic. At phonemic level, the writer discusses the conditioning of the English loans that are subjected to as a result of the phonetic asymmetry between Bahasa Indonesia and English both consonants and vowels that made appropriate with recipient language system because the phonemes in English and Bahasa Indonesia basically are different. Thus, it can be concluded that borrowing is not coincidental and unstructured process but usually deliberate, purposeful, and systematic.
