Montalvo Expands its Management Team with Two New Appointments

Nancy Glaze appointed deputy director, Diane Maxwell appointed director of marketing

SARATOGA, Calif. – Montalvo Arts Center is pleased to announce two new appointments to its
senior management team: Nancy Glaze, former director of arts and culture at the David and
Lucile Packard Foundation, and recent interim executive director at Montalvo will assume the
role of deputy director. Diane Maxwell, former development and communications director for
Djerassi Resident Artists Program, assumes the role of director of marketing and
communications.

Both individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in their related fields to Montalvo, a
multidisciplinary Silicon Valley arts center and historic Saratoga landmark.

During her seven months as interim executive director at Montalvo, Glaze managed day-to-day
operations and worked extensively with the organization’s Board of Trustees to begin
establishing a sustainable business plan for the organization. Glaze brings a long-standing
familiarity with Montalvo’s history and arts programming through her 23-year arts leadership
tenure with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation in Los Altos. Glaze serves on the boards of
American’s for the Arts, Arts Council Silicon Valley, and the San Jose Institute for Contemporary
Art.

At Djerassi, Maxwell was responsible for organizing and promoting numerous public events and
broadening awareness of the organization through a successful lecture series “Where Art
Originates: Artists & the Creative Process” in collaboration with the Palo Alto Art Center. Maxwell
was a key force in executing the launch of the organization’s new membership program and
creating residency partnership awards with similar organizations in the Bay Area and Southern
California. Maxwell has also served in communication positions at the San Francisco Jazz
Organization; San Jose Museum of Art; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. Diane
is a member of ArtTable, Inc.; Alliance of Artists Communities; Public Relations Society of
America; and American Association of Museums.

“Nancy and Diane have extensive experience in arts management, and we are thrilled to have
them at Montalvo,” Executive Director Angela McConnell said. “The expertise and passion that
they each bring, and the accomplishments that span their careers make them ideal additions to
our senior management team.”
