Jewish in love with money Explores the survivor syndrome Discussion of recent fiction Jewish American and Holocaust Literature highlights the implications that literature has on Jewish people. Within recent decades, writers have stereotyped the jewish love for money. This writing has not only been written by disassociated writers, it has been written by Jewish men in order to characterize women in a misogynistic, characterized as hatred for women, manner. Jewish American and Holocaust Literature also explores the survivor syndrome in which American Jewish fiction portrays survivors who are well-adjusted to contemporary life and are dedicated to bearing witness and preserving Judaism and the Jewish people. The novel goes on to discuss that in recent years, Jewish American literature has been impacted due to the dissipated fear surrounding religious and cultural interests. Jewish American and Holocaust Literature will support some of the factors that I believe creates distortion in the representation of the Jewish people. The use of stereotypes by Jewish writers adds to the misrepresentation of the population as a whole. This source addresses the

survivor syndrome in which historical events are characterized as heros who are able to return to normalcy after the atrocity of the Holocaust. This showcases how Jewish people are portrayed in literature and how it has impacted the way they are viewed today. In recent years, the promotion and self declaration by Jewish American writers has allowed for misrepresentations to be reviewed and will add new insight on the representation of Jewish people. Finzsch, Norbert, and Dietmar Schirmer. Identity and Intolerance. Washington: Cambridge University, 1998. Print. Poems of the Past Imperialism Identity and Intolerance discusses the parallels that exist between the perception of Jewish and other nationalities and imperialism. Imperialism enabled a superioristic view in the United States. Poems such as The White Mans Burden showcases the perception of other nationalities, especially Africans, during this time period. I believe that this novel will help be support the fact that there are reasons that racism and negative portrayal exist. The superiority mindset of those in the United States heavily impacted the media and vise versa. The distribution of poems, much like The White Mans Burden, emphasizes the lack of tolerance for other nationalities. It easily connects into my paper as a credible source as to why Jewish people were and are portrayed in a particular light. Krausz, Ernest, and Gitta Tulea. Jewish Survival. New Brunswick: New Brunswick, 1998. Print. Traditional Identity of Jewish People Jewish Survival highlights the struggle for Jewish people to maintain an identity. The traditional identity is said to not be accurate of the Jewish people. The deregulation of Jews and

their tradition has been said to be caused due to the pressure of modernity, secularism, and individualism. The Jewish Survival corresponds with the Jewish people lacking an identity due to external forces. The media plays a huge role on the portrayal and creation of an identity for a group of people. Furthermore, the Jewish struggle to obtain a strong identity due to the atrocities that have occurred throughout history. The fact that a traditional identity is not an accurate representation of Jewish people adds to the lack of a consistent portrayal. Barenbaum, Michael. America is different Shift in views Not Your Fathers Antisemitism showcases the perception of Jewish people throughout history. Myths that have existed are made note of in several instances. For example, denial of the Holocaust by Westerners are seen by scholars as a method to recover the reputation of Germany. The different experience that the Jewish had from their native country and the United States is presumed to be because of the separation of church and state. As time progresses, the antisemitic view that the United States had has dissipated over the years due to generational changes. The role of the internet has also played a role in how Jews are perceived because it has the ability to revive items that might otherwise be forgotten or ignored. Not Your Fathers Antisemitism is a contemporary novel which discusses the factors that have played a role on perception of the Jews in the United States. The myths that exist in Europe are not necessarily parallel to those in the United States. The United States has been seen as

being more accepting of Jewish people than any European counterpart. Not Your Fathers Antisemitism discusses the changes in perception throughout time. The fact that the Internet is mentioned shows that communication and media has an impact on the perception of Jews.
