Its a rather unusual motorcycle story, one form Worlds largest manufacturer that failed to grab sales chart, performed miserably, still chugging along with its two in house competitors, Four years is a long time. But still it refuses to die. We are talking about Hero Honda Achiever, years it has spent in showroom across the country. After the end of CBZ era in September 2005, Achiever first came around in 2006 with a round front fairing as Hero Hondas only bike in this segment before the CBZ came back in 2007. Soon Hunk followed and it meant Achievers role was a bit sidelined and neglected one. The looks and stance of the bike are from the Ambition family while it shares its engine with Honda Unicorn motorcycle. Its an air cooled and 4 stroke with 149.1cc displacement. It produces 13.4 bhp (almost same of Apache 150) and is equipped with five speed constant mesh. But nevertheless the Achiever fails to provide the thrill and rush as expected from a 150cc bike. It clocks 0-60kmph in 5.63secs. The bike has a big and masculine body that accounts for its near perfect straight line stability. But it doesnt corner around too easily. Its best when ridden on highways not in traffic. It has a top speed of 109kmph.

Its large, chiseled fuel tank may not offer you functional knee indent.1290mm wheelbase, a high ground clearance of 160mm, taller handlebars, Telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers in front and Swing arm adjustable shockers in rear altogether succeeds in giving you a comfortable and happy ride. The ride quality seen in this bike is indeed commendable. Another thing you would be happy to notice is its low noise and vibration free engine. Clutch and gearbox everything happens to be smooth yet solid. The 240mm Front Disc brake also compliments well with the overall personality of the bike. Old narrow rear tyres have been replaced with a tuff up tube version which reduces the chance of punctures hassles. The bikes styling looks quite outdated. The graphics are far from attracting anyone. Hero Honda has updated it with stylish alloy wheels with all black styling to the bike which also is a relief. But even with those little paint changes it looks very much unattractive. It has Dummy scoops under petrol tanks and body and body colored grab rails. Not to mention a uniquely designed muffler with Heat shield. The bike has a super bright headlamp which also works quite efficiently. It has a 12.5 liters fuel capacity and returns 54kmpl (overall) offering the customers a premium segment product at less ownership cost.COLORS AVAILABLE- Magnetic blue, Candy Blazing Red, Force silver metaalic, Palace Maroon and Black. The bikes looks are outdated when compared to any other bike; it is perhaps the most aged 150cc motorcycle currently. Moreover it lacks all the latest technology abroad (LCD, LEDs). Hero Hondas Hunk turns out to be a better option than Achiever. And CBZ Xtreme even better. So Achievers name remains last on a customers wish list. It is priced at Rs 53,925 (ex-Delhi). Maybe its time Hero Honda says goodbye to Achiever which has failed to achieve

Anand Nagouda This is probably the only bike in 150cc category whose gears can be changed using toe & heel. This is a big plus. I always fear spoiling my shoes with bikes like Unicorn, CBZ, Suzuki 150R. Probably the only bike 150cc bike for a family man, who cannot go for college bikes (it is not jazzy). Correct me if I am wrong. Reply murtaza arzai August 15, 2010 at 1:40 pm nice n true article, i also agree acheiver is a big flop, hardly seen on roads..))) Reply santosh August 15, 2010 at 7:51 pm This bike has nothing to offer. Hero Honda has put nothing new in it. I checked the HH website many a times. When I click on the link for this bike, an error page comes up. Probably HH has even closed its website. But one thing is sure. HH will not accept it as a defeat. During the Diwali session this year (2010), HH is expected to introduce new models and upgrades. CBZ and Achiever need urgent upgrade. Reply raghavan August 16, 2010 at 5:46 pm Hero Honda is a typical bania. They fitted Unicorns Engine which is a beauty in a crap Ambition frame.Ambition was one huge flop and these guys only extended its lifespan by rebadging it as Acheiver and replacing the crap motor with Unis refined engine.Acheiver would have been a hit since it costs just around 55,000 to 60,000 INR,cheaper than even Honda Stunner and in the same price range as most 125cc bikes. However, people viewed it as a rebadged Ambition and hence it flopped. Reply alex August 18, 2010 at 12:20 am I feel the bike may succeed with little rearset footpegs and nothing else required, bikes doesnt differ my more qualities but they are seperated by little margins. rearset foot pegs and adjusted handlebar position really makes fun of riding achiever. with low sticker price. not much difference between hunk/cbz xtreme/ achiever if that happens. ofcourse styling is purely personal choice. one may ike pulsar and the other hunk! Its a real flop bike please stop the production of hero honda Achiver hero honda already has cbz xtreme, hunk and karizma zmr Reply manjunath November 29, 2010 at 4:30 pm soory to say this but you peple are ready to buy honda stunner and honda unicorn (corn)and why not the same engine is fiited to archiver and you say its flop but for the people who wants good value for money this is good bike to buy for example pulsar cost 73000/. in Bangalore were as archiver is 53000-56000 you are saving nearly 20000/.just for some plastic cosmetic thing you are paying extra money and the bajaj bikes will lost only for maximum 5 years (i own discover)which as become a scrap just for 55000km i think 2010 achiver is a value for money Reply anil December 3, 2010 at 12:16 pm Hi Manjunath, i am fully agreed with your comments, i am thinking to go for it, actually the same engine has fitted in H unicorn, & almost same performance is equal, only the lagging part is looks, but its doesnt matter when it comes to price. its my own bike Achiver new metalic blue Reply Sridhar December 29, 2010 at 10:04 am Hi Guys, I own a hero honda achiever for more than 4 yrs still now no problem with the bike i would like to say it have good power and great mileage im getting 55 km/per liter in chennai. so it have good stability, and im great fan of achiever. Thanks V.Sridhar Chennai Reply Vipin_S March 20, 2011 at 3:00 am I feel very priveledged to be owner of this wonderful bike from Hero Honda, I bought this bike in 2009 from Nikki Motors, I got 2006 model which was on display for just Rs.42500 OTR (including std. accessories and an ISI Helmet)*WoooooW* . Here are some salient features, 1. Amazing smoothness (a notch better off Unicorn I would say) 2. Amazing pick-up all the way upto 100kmph speedo (some mags had reported 17.XX secs for 0-100kmph for Acihiever), my CBZ xtreme friends vote Achiever on 0-80kmph performance over CBZ xtreme. 3. Fuel Efficiency, it can shame 125cc bikes without letting down you on performance, I consistently get 50-52kmpl in Blore riding and 55+ on highways at 70-80kmph. 4. The bike has segment best LOW END TORQUE, thats more fun in city drives, more mileage, bike develops max. torque at just 5000 rpm, this is the secret behind high mileage and superior performance. 5. ATFT, AMI are default on this bike, which again aides fuel efficiency. 6. I have covered 15K kms till date, NOT EVEN A SINGLE MINOR COMPLAINT, thats Hero Honda quality for all of you readers ! 7. One of my friend recently asked if I have plans to sell my Achiever if so at what price, I politely told him I will not sell even if you offer a LAKH !! Thats the pride I carry with this bike. 8. I will write my love story on this bike shortly, watch out for it !!! Reply Varun October 10, 2011 at 3:13 pm Very True even i own a HH-A Very smooth ride quality awesome pickup ( My friends having Pulsar, Unicorn, even apache, have said that my bike has a very good pick-up compared to theirs). Gr8 Bike to have. But old fashioned -now. Reply who want to Achive in life then go for HH Achiver 2011 April 11, 2011 at 11:48 pm

I have a HH Achiever, which is fantastic , it is just 2 months old, when this bike then I feel to ride n ride a ridethnx to HH for this bike. It is really VALUE for MONEY in 150 cc segment. I want to know to my friends who riding HH Achiever for long long years that how much SPEED I can achieve in high-way without any vibration? I am asking this because when I cross 50km/hr. or 55km/hr. then my bike run smoothly without any vibration but when I cross 60km/h that time it start to vibrate which is disappoint me. I asked my Dealer about this problem then they say after 2500 km it will not happen, they also told me that it engine is just lunch on road so they suggest to me to ride my bike within 45 km/ hr. So I want to know my HH Achiever users friend dealer,s suggestion is truth or wrong. PLEASE WRITE ME ABOUT THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AT sourishkund@gmail.com Reply Shekhar April 21, 2011 at 1:28 am can u pls mention about tire(tubeless or not),mileage n riding comfort Reply abhinav thakur April 21, 2011 at 10:51 pm this one is one thae best bike i drive ever, i have pulsar 150 and achiver too, but i like to drive achiver for smoothness , pickup and low maintanance, but hero honda cant make attention with poor marketing of this bike.
