Obtaining Required Software Files

The following section provides details on how to obtain the required software files for your activity. The
Avamar Downloader Service is the recommended method for obtaining software. If the Downloader
Service is not available for your activity, use the information in this section to manually download the
required software files.
Note: Due to the size of some files, it is recommended to download the software to your laptop or USB
memory stick prior to going to the customer site.
IMPORTANT: The download links below are updated as new releases become available. Using the
download links below will ensure that you have the latest approved files for your activity.

Using FTP to download files directly to the Avamar Server

If the customer has external FTP access from their Avamar Server, the following command can be used
to download the files directly onto the Avamar Server. Use the command below with the appropriate
download links above.

Troubleshooting FTP issues

There may be situations where the curl commands above do not work and you get a couldnt connect
error. Here are some suggested remedies.
.a Add --disable-epsv (two dashes) to the command as follows:
curl O --disable-epsv
Note: See curl help if there is a problem with syntax.
.b On RHEL systems, use the wget command:
wget <DOWNLOAD_LINK>
.c Enable verbose output for additional messages to aid in troubleshooting:
curl O v <DOWNLOAD_LINK>

Copy Software to Avamar Server using SCP

When the Avamar Downloader Service is not available at the customer site, you have to manually copy
the software files to the Utility Node or Single Node Server. You may use any SCP utility to perform this
transfer. The instructions below will use pscp which is included in the Avamar Procedure Generator.

PASSWORD = the root password of the Avamar Server
LOCAL_FILENAME = the absolute path of the file on you laptop (for example C:\myfiles\filename)
IP_ADDRESS = the IP address of the Utility Node or Single Node Server
PATH = the directory on the Avamar Server to copy the file to.
IMPORTANT: All .AVP (workflow) files should use PATH of /data01/avamar/repo/packages.
All other files should use PATH of /data01/avamar/src/.
Example:
C:\AvamarProcedureGenerator\Repository\Tools> pscp -pw changeme C:\myfiles\File1
root@10.10.10.1:/data01/avamar/src/
