ASSIGNEMENT # 2 =================== Last date of submision of A2 is Monday 7th October.

---------------------------------------------------------------Following are the topics for assignment A2 (part-1) (i) Transient response - Generalized. (ii) Using generalized transfer function of any LTI system prove mathematically that its impulse response will be asymptotically stable if and only if all of its Poles lie on C- (left half side of complex plane). (Assymptotically stable means that steady state value is zero.) (iii) Transient response characteristics of First-Order System. (iv) Transient response characteristics of Second-Order System. (v) What is dominant pole and discuss its importance in determining charecteristics of Transient Response of higher-Order System. (vi) Define Transfer Function and discuss its importance in determining system's; stability, Transient Response, Steady State Response etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------Following are the topics for assignment A2 (part-2) (i) More Assignment Problems on system models :

3.40, 3.48-3.50

(ii) Designing FBCS using Transient Response: Problem # 6.11-13, 6.17, 6.24-6.27 (iii) Find approximate (practical) models for dc-motors, armature & field controlled, and verify it by simulations. (iv) Routh Stability Criterion: Problem

# 6.63 Problem # 6.64-6.66, 6.68-6.69, 6.72

(v) Analysis of FBCS using Routh's Stability Criterion: ----------------------------------------------------------------Following are the topics for assignment A2 (part-3) (1) Define Root-locus plot

(2) For feedback system and its root-locus plot shown in Figure 7.22 (on page-304), do following: (a) Find T(s) = C(s)/R(s) (b) Find charecteristic equation, P(s) (c) Draw root-locus plot on Matlab

(d) Manually label/mark roots position on root-locus plot for K = [0 25 50 54 100 250 400 540 600] For this use Matlab Command 'ROOTS(P)' where P is an array of P(s) with given K (e) From labelled root-locus find range of K when System is Stabe. (f) From root-locus plot do Transient Analysis of for stable range of K (g) Verify your Transient Response Analysis by following command; STEP (Num, Den) Where Num = polynomial of nummerator of T(s) and Den = polynomial of nummerator of T(s), with one value of K, for each case. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Following are the topics for assignment 4th and last part of A2 assignment. Define Root-Locus plot. Explain if one can construct root-locus plot of open-loop system. (i) P-, PI-, PD- & PID Controllers; Problem # 7.18, 7.19 - Analyze the FBCS by their root-locus plots.
