a new look at synastry

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/newsynastry.html

Synastry, or the astrological study of relationships, traditionally uses only close aspects between planets to assess a relationship. But what about when not using degree aspects? Then we are left with all kinds of possibilities -mutual and interfunctional aspects, dispositorship, and something else that is quite different. Here is a new or unique way to do synastry based on your natal planetary aspects(by sign) which attract certain other planet/sign placements. Take any natal planetary aspect in your chart(by sign) and study its components. Note: a knowledge of sign rulerships or dignities is necessary here. Let's take Sun trine Mars(by sign) for example. Sun rules Leo and Mars rules Aries, so this aspect has an affinity to the placements of Sun in Aries or Mars in Leo. Because the trine is involved, these two placements will be harmonious to the native. Let's take another example: Mercury square Mars. Mercury rules Gemini/Virgo and Mars rules Aries, so that this aspect equates with Mercury in Aries or Mars in Gemini/Virgo. Because the square is involved. these three placements will prove difficult for the native. Do this with all of the aspects in your chart and see which placements keep popping up and whether they are harmonious or discordant. Conjunctions and oppositions are the most powerful or important good aspects while squares are the most important difficult aspects. Trines and sextiles are harmonious and semi-sextiles and inconjuncts(or quincunx) are discordant. You can use modern(preferred) or traditional rulerships and the ten known planets(Asc and MC can be experimental). The rulerships or dignities are as follows: MODERN Sun = Leo TRADITIONAL Moon = Cancer Sun = Leo Mercury = Gemini/Virgo Moon = Cancer Venus = Taurus/Libra Mercury = Gemini/Virgo Mars = Aries Venus = Taurus/Libra Jupiter = Sagittarius Mars = Aries/Scorpio Saturn = Capricorn Jupiter = Sagittarius/Pisces Uranus = Aquarius Saturn = Capricorn/Aquarius Neptune = Pisces Pluto = Scorpio Note: the traditional rulerships will yield more possibilities and therefore be less conclusive. Eventually there will be one planet for every sign and that is when the real fun will begin.

Narrowing it Down
Take a really close aspect in your chart by degree(omitting out of sign aspects) and see which planetary positions are associated with it. Let's say Sun square Saturn, which equates to Sun in Capricorn and/or Saturn in Leo. These two positions will be difficult(square) for the native, and there will be no doubt about it. back to index back to main

aspects and houses

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/basics2.html

Basics II:

In my personal opinion, aspects and houses mean the same thing, so that Mars in the 5th House actually means that Mars is in lower trine relationship(by sign) to the Earth/Ascendant, but because we live or are focused on planet Earth, such relationships become a big deal, and so the "Houses" are born. The explanation is that Earth becomes a "grounding" mechanism for the other heavenly bodies via the house system. In any case, special attention should be given to the aspects or relationships between the Earth/Ascendant and the other eleven planets. Houses are numbered 1 to 12. House 1 is your Ascendant sign and the other signs follow. Planets in your first house are conjunct(in the same sign) as your Ascendant. Planets in the following house or sign are semi-sextile to your Ascendant and so on around the wheel. The Midheaven is the celestial sphere, which has as its source, the Earth's Inner Central Sun, and should be treated as a planet. It has nothing to do with the 10th house, other than the fact that it is frequently situated there. Too much emphasis is given to degrees in Astrology, resulting in aspects that don't exist, including "out of sign" aspects which are purely mathematical but not astrological. There are seven basic aspects, five of which double up(just like the sign rulership scheme) and that's that. Forget about quintiles(72degrees) and semi-squares(45degrees) -they are not astrological. The only valid astrological aspects are based on sign relationships, and just as the double rulership scheme is singling out, so should the aspect scheme. In other words, there are actually 12 and not 7 aspects. Aspects by degree only intensify what is already there by sign or element, so that all planets are always relating to one another to some degree, just as all parts of your body are always relating to one another to some degree(otherwise you would become dismembered!). Here is a list of the aspects in their exactness and their associations with the other elements of astrology...

assessing compatible planet placements

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/compatible.html

Assessing Compatible Planet Placements

The primary means of assessing whether or not a planet is "good" for you in your own chart or in relation to the charts of others is to note whether that planet is well placed by sign or element. This is termed as a planet's dignity or station and requires a knowledge of the rulerships. A planet's house position is also important but requires a correct ascendant and house system(this author recommends the whole sign house system). The third way to assess a planet's influence on you is to note the aspects that planet makes to all of the other planets, both by sign and degree. The sign aspects give a general assessment while the degree aspects narrow down the field considerably. Most important are the mutual aspects followed by the intermutual ones. Mutual aspects are Sun-Sun, Moon-Moon, etc. Intermutual aspects involve the relationship of one particular planet to a different one. If the majority of aspects are favourable, then that planetary placement is deemed "good" for you. There is a fourth means by which to assess whether any planet placement is good or bad for you but it relies heavily on a correct knowledge of planetary rulerships or dignities, something which is unfortunately incomplete or debatable at this time. Nonetheless, one can still experiment and gain valuable insights. The commonly accepted rulerships in astrology today are Sun for Leo, Moon for Cancer, Mercury for Gemini and Virgo, Venus, for Taurus and Libra, Mars for Aries, Jupiter for Sagittarius, Saturn for Capricorn, Uranus for Aquarius, Neptune for Pisces, and Pluto for Scorpio. When the system is complete, Mercury and Venus will rule only one sign each. This author feels that newly discovered Eris is a good candidate or possible ruler for Libra leaving Venus to Taurus. Virgo's true ruler is still uncertain. This fourth means of assessing whether any planet is "good" or "bad" for you, especially in the synastric sense, is quite simple. Take ANY planetary position -there are 100 planet-in-sign positions if the ten known planets are considered, and 121 if Eris is included. Let's say, for example, Sun in Aries. To know if Sun in Aries is good for you, look at the Sun and Mars placements in your chart, first by sign, then by degree. If you have Sun in Taurus and Mars in Leo, for example, the two are in square(difficult) aspect by sign, and especially difficult if the square is also by degree. This means that Sun in Aries is a "bad" or difficult placement for you. On the other hand, if you have Sun in Taurus and Mars in Virgo, this is a trine aspect. The Martian traits of action and energy are well ingrained into your nature and this itself will definitely help you to get along with Sun in Aries people. Conjunctions are the most telling. If you have a conjunction(primarily by sign) between natal Sun and Moon, for example, you will strongly associate with Sun in Cancer or Moon in Leo people, as they represent this aspect in your chart. Oppositions are also good followed by trines and sextiles. The square is the most difficult aspect, followed by the semi-sextile and inconjunct. To narrow it down, look at the closest aspects(by degree) in your natal chart and note those planets. They will represent your most significant relationships and planet placements. A close square between natal Mars and Pluto for example, will signify trouble with Mars in Scorpio or Pluto in Aries(non-existent at this time) placements. Also there is the applying or separating factor to consider in such aspects. When a placement is dignified -say Jupiter in Sagittarius, it will only relate in terms of how the other person's Jupiter is placed. So Jupiter in its home sign will best get along with other Jupiters that are well-placed by sign, element, or gender. It can be fun to go through all your natal placements and discover which other placements they particulary identify with and how. Or you can take someone else's natal placements and see which these most relate too.

astrological birth control

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/bcontrol.html

Astrological Birth Control

According to studies and trials done by Russian cosmobiologist Eugene Jonas, a woman can only conceive when the transiting Sun and Moon are in the same angular relationship(by sign) as the woman's natal Sun and Moon. In other words, if the woman has the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Sagittarius, she has what is known as a trine(120 degree) relationship between her luminaries. Whenever the Sun and Moon are in trine(by sign) in the sky, this is the best time for her to conceive or become pregnant. The trine is a harmonious relationship. Other harmonious Sun/Moon relationships(by sign), such as the sextile(60 degrees), Conjunction(0 degrees), or opposition(180 degrees), can also be fertile periods for her. Periods when the transiting Sun and Moon are not harmonious are times when this woman is unlikely to conceive or become pregnant. This harmonious/inharmonious relationship between the Sun occurs about every two and one half days. By learning some basic astrology and having access to an ephemeris(book or list of planetary positions) this woman can know in advance which two and one-half day period to have or not to have child-bearing sex. Note: a period of up to twelve hours should be allowed for the sperm to reach the ovum and cause conception. Also, any bad or harsh aspects to the luminaries from the other planets should be avoided as much as possible, so that no malformities or other weaknesses occur. Not only this, but you can also select the sex and general characteristics of the child by timing its conception and birth using astrology. The sex of the child is determined by the gender of the sign the Moon is in at the time of conception. In other words, If the sign of the transiting Moon at conception is in a masculine sign(Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius), the child will be a male. If the sign of the transiting Moon at conception is in a feminine sign(Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, or Pisces) the child will be a female. According to the ancient Trutine of Hermes formula, the Moon sign at conception, becomes the Ascendant sign at birth, and the Ascendant sign at conception becomes the Moon sign at birth. The time from conception to birth is usually 273 days or ten lunar months and nine solar months. In other words, you can pretty much select the Moon and Ascendant signs of your child(as well as the other planets) and therefore have a very good idea of the characterstics of the child you are bringing into the world. back to index back to main

astrological rulerships

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/rulers.html

Astrological Rulerships
Rulership is an extremely important issue and those who say otherwise don't know what they're talking about. How else is one supposed to know the kind of influence a planet gives off if it is not linked to one of the twelve signs? It is the whole basis upon which astrology is built! Mars and Venus are as different from each other as Aries and Taurus. The real problem is the subject of dual rulerships. Up untill 1781, the luminaries ruled one sign each, and the five visible planets ruled two signs each, as is shown below...
Sun rules Leo(day) Mercury rules Gemini(day) Venus rules Taurus(night) Mars rules Aries(day) Moon rules Cancer(night) and Virgo(night) and Libra(day) and Scorpio(night)

Jupiter rules Sagittarius(day) and Pisces(night) Saturn rules Capricorn(night) and Aquarius(day)

This setup seemed to work fine(and still does to some extent) but it is an ambiguous system reflecting an ambiguous time. It allows too much leeway where interpretation is concerned and if we are ever to establish astrology as a precise method or science, we must resolve this ambiguity. What double rulership does reveal is that the fire element is a higher(day) octave or expression of the lower(night) water element, and that air(day) is the higher expression of earth(night). Double rulership is also a failsafe or backup system for a degenerated humanity that only uses half of its potential, and this has been the case for thousands of years now. Those select few who have regenerated and awakened their higher senses are fully in tune with all twelve planets, and this will soon be the case with humanity in general. The (re)discoveries of Uranus(1781), Neptune(1846), and Pluto(1930) are already starting that process. Recognition of Earth and a final twelfth body will complete it. The process from 7 to 12 is the process from mortality to immortality or from human to divine. The true rulership scheme should look as follows...
Sun rules Leo Moon rules Cancer Venus rules Taurus Mars rules Aries Jupiter rules Sagittarius Saturn rules Capricorn Uranus rules Aquarius Pluto rules Scorpio Earth rules Libra X rules Gemini orVirgo

Mercury rules Gemini or Virgo Neptune rules Pisces

Earth Rules Libra

Earth is the Libran planet of this solar system whose central themes or keywords are beauty, justice, harmony and relationships. We are here to learn how to live with one another in harmony despite our diversities. This planet must have the most diverse number of races and creatures and plants and minerals in the universe, most of them imported. It also has the most free will of just about any other planet. Our planet is a great experiment and everyone in the galaxy is watching as we are something of a microcosm of our galactic center. Unfortunately, we are not doing very well at this time; we have allowed ourselves to become the victims of inimical forces who wish to make this planet their home. Libra, because of its great beauty, has been taken advantage of like no other sign (except maybe Pisces). There is no more beautiful sign position than Libra rising or ascendant. These people have model-like faces and bodies and extremely pleasant manners and personalities. Libra rising(not Sun sign) is the personal depiction of what this planet should be like. Unfortunately, as explained earlier, this is at present, far from the case. As partners, we must help our Libran planet achieve its natural and deserved status. We must clean up our own lives through fasting and prayer, and when there are at least 144,000 fully regenerated humans, the planet and eveyone else will fall into line. Then this planet will take its rightful place as the Libran planet of this solar system.

astrological rulerships

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/rulers.html

One of the failings of astrology or astrologers has been not to recognize the true identity of our planet as the true ruler of Libra and how it influences us astrologically -via the ascendant or rising sign. The notion that Earth is always opposite the Sun and therefore in the sign opposite your Sun sign is purely heliocentric and has no validity in a geocentric context. It's sad to see how much garbage is still being circulated in the name of serious astrology. If people knew the truth about the Ascendant(and the Midheaven) astrology would be much more widely accepted than it is today.

From Seven To Twelve

Uranus rules Aquarius, leaving Saturn to Capricorn and bringing our total to eight. Neptune rules Pisces, leaving Sagittarius to Jupiter and bringing our total to nine. Pluto rules Scorpio leaving Mars to Aries and bringing our total to ten. Earth rules Libra, leaving Venus to Taurus and bringing our total to eleven. One more body is unnacounted for which we shall name X. There are many contenders for the status of planet X. One is intra-Mercurial Vulcan. Another is Lilith, supposedly a second moon of the Earth. Then there is Ceres, largest of the asteroids between Mars and Jupiter. There is also the planetoid Chiron discovered in 1977 between Saturn and Uranus. Finally there are all those hypothetical bodies beyond Neptune, most of them in the Kuiper belt. These include the Uranians, Isis, Persephone, Morya, Lion, Q, Nemesis, and a host of others. Some, like Quaoar, Sedna, and Xena are not so hypothetical, but do they have any real astrological influence? Remember, the total number of planets must be twelve, including Sun, Moon, and Earth. This means that only one more member will be accepted as the legitimate ruler of Virgo(or Gemini). Take your pic. While everyone is looking beyond Pluto, it seems few are looking closer to home. What about the Midheaven? Is it not a legitimate astrological influence? If so, it must have a body to back it up. All real astrological influences have a solid visible body as their source -no exception. So where does the Midheaven influence come from? This is a great mystery untill one realizes that our planet is hollow and contains an inner central sun. The Ascendant influence comes from the Earth's shell wherein lies its center of gravity. This is why the ascendant is always measured at the horizon. The Midheaven, on the other hand, is measured as the highest point of the ecliptic intersected by the individual's meridian of birth. In other words, the center of the sky is also the center of the planet. And located right at the inner center of our planet is a small reddish sun some 600 to 700 miles in diameter. This sun, which Olaf Janssen describes as a "planet" in the book The Smokey God, is the power behind the Midheaven! Could this also be Zechariah Sitchin's twelfth planet(or what's left of it)? Unfortunately, Earth's hidden sun is only emitting a fraction of its true power. In the book The Hollow Earth by Rudy Rucker, our inner central sun is described as being covered by huge slipper-like creatures who are feeding off of its energy and who call themselves the Elder Ones(they claim to be millions of years old). Personally, I believe they are nothing but parasites who are weakening the planet and all life on it. If they were somehow to be removed the energy of the planet would probably increase tenfold, and so would the quality of life on this planet. In fact I believe that they are eaters(for that is their basic pastime) and that they are responsible for our own degenerative habits. This planet is plagued by both parasites and pollution, which are the main causes of sickness and death, and needs a good cleansing. Cleanliness or purification is the key to staving off sickness and death. When we clean up the planet and ourselves the heightened frequency or vibration will naturally eliminate or ward off all lower frequency life forms, including negative humans. Virgo is the sign of cleanliness and purification. When the ruling world or planet of this sign is fully activated or liberated, we will enjoy perfect health and live very long lives in a clean and paradisical environment. Could the Inner Sun Midheaven be associated with this? back to index back to main

astro-numerology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/numbers.html

Astro Numerology
Numbers are the "bones" upon which astrology is built. Just like the signs, each number from one to twelve has its own unique meaning. What few make clear is that it is the space or sequence that number, sign, or letter occupies that gives it its real power. The look, size, or sound are all secondary considerations. The number 1, the sign Aries, the letter A, and the month of January all derive similar meanings because they occupy the first space or position of a sequence. What's more is that if another sign or letter or month were adopted as the first or beginning point, then that letter, sign, or month would acquire the meaning of the first space. What NEVER changes is the space and its meaning. This throws considerable light on the importance of location and environment and how they shape anyone or anything. Although at present, we have nine numbers plus the zero cipher, ideally there should be twelve, but we must work with what we have. The decimal and duodecimal systems reflect this. There should eventually also be a twelve-day week to accomodate the newly discovered(or rediscovered) planets. Numerology or the science of numbers, is popularly used to evaluate the power of a letter or name. The numbers 1 to 9 are strewn across and beneath them, sequentially, are placed the letters of the English alphabet(foreign alphabets will have different placings and values) as such...

1 +4 +9 +2 +8 24 = 2+4 = 6

2+6=8

Eight(8) is the numerical value for John Smith. This can be done for birthdays, addresses, and phone numbers as well. The important thing is to keep adding the numbers untill they reduce to a single digit between 1 and 9. This method of calculating may appear absurd to most untill one realizes that, like astrology, it is as much a visual science as a mathematical one. The number 11 will mean eleven to most of us, but in numerology it means two ones(totalling two) standing next to each other. The only double digit numbers that are not reduced are those that replicate themselves, such as 11, 22, 33, and so on. These are called master numbers and are very powerful because they balance and emphasize one another at the same time. Astrologically they correspond to planets in their home signs(Mars in Aries, for example) which are also very powerful. People marked in any way by a master number will stand out above the common crowd. Two examples are hockey greats Wayne Gretzky(wears # 99) and Mario Lemieux(wears # 66). It should also be noted that the letters K(11th letter) and V(22nd letter) are the two most powerful letters in the English alphabet. Double letters, such as AA or SS have a similar power. Each number has its significance and associations and they can be as varied as their authors. One main rule of thumb is that the odd numbers(1,3,5,7,9) are masculine(corresponding to the masculine signs in astrology) or extroverted in nature and compatible with one another, whereas the even numbers(2,4,6,8) are feminine(corresponding to the feminine signs in astrology) and introverted in nature and are also compatible with one another. You will notice that there are more odd than even numbers; this is indicative of our patriarchal or male-dominated society. The cypher 0 was adopted from the Arab world around 800 AD who in turn may have adopted it earlier from India. Astrologically it corresponds to the planet Pluto and the principle of power. In front of a number it weakens or diminishes tenfold, and in back of a number it strengthens or enlarges tenfold. If added to the even numbers it balances the male/female principle. Just as Pluto's planetary status is being debated, so is equality for the female. In my view, Pluto is definitely a planet.

beauty and the planets

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/beautyplanets.html

Beauty is strength and strength is beauty -the two go hand in hand. Beauty is also conciousness, awareness, intelligence, youth, diversity, lightness, change, excitement, originality, genius, truth, independance, freedom, faith, hope, honesty, clarity, simplicity, trust, warmth, love, happiness, joy, life, creativity, courage, action, initiative, independance, energy, movement, speed, self-realization, balance, harmony, symmetry, duality, peace, compromise, co-operation, unity, and justice. Beauty is also solidity, stability, endurance, calm, quiet, resourcefulness, intuition, sensitivity, receptivity, caring, nurturing, devotion, remembrance, service, duty, reliability, humility, thoroughness, purity, perfection, depth, focus, intensity, exclusivity, determination, regeneration, control, order, honor, respect, law, forgiveness, understanding, tolerance, inner peace, rest, relief, sacrifice. Just as Mercury is the primary indicator of communication in the chart so the Ascendant or Rising sign, which stands for planet Earth, is the primary indicator of beauty. This does not mean it is the ONLY indicator, but the primary one. Every other planet, when well placed, will contribute to the total beauty of the individual, but there is always one that does so more than the others, and that is what the concept of rulership is all about. A planet is well placed when it is in its own gender, element, or sign. The Sun, for example, is well placed in a masculine(fire or air) sign, especially fire, and most of all in Leo(its ruling sign). The other planets follow the same rule according to their ruling signs. The issue of rulership or dignity is pivotal to determining what is a beautiful planet and what is not. Planets in their own gender, element, or sign are comfortable or "at home" there because the natures of both the planet and the sign are complementary, similar, or even identical. Ease or comfort produces harmony which produces beauty. The more naturally the planet and sign blend the more harmony or beauty is produced. Planets in an inharmonious or incompatible gender, element, or sign are uncomfortable there and produce only tension, distortion, and conflict which produces ugliness. The planets and their beauty quotients based on their ruling signs are as follows...

The Earth/Ascendant:
This is the main indicator of physical beauty(or the lack of it) in the chart. Earth rules Libra, the sign of beauty, so that Libra rising is first on the list of attractiveness. Libra rising has a beautiful face, and is well proportioned in every way. Not every Libra rising is perfect by the way -this depends on the other planets in the chart. One would think that the other two air signs, Gemeni and Aquarius, would come next in order of attractiveness, but it seems Sagittarius and Leo hold that distinction. Sagittarius has a pretty or handsome face, is usually brunette and often tall with a great body. So many models have Sagittarius rising. Leo ascendant is regal or noble looking and usually blond or light in coloring. The males bald early. Gemini is usually slender, brunette and sometines blonde, with a pretty or handsome face. Aquarius is also handsome or cute with brunette to blonde hair coloring. Finally, there is Aries ascendant which is not too tall, usually brunette, and whose features show strength and confidence. The males also bald early. The ascendant is not generally physically attractive in the earth and water signs, but there are always exceptions. Take Richard Gere and Burt Reynolds, for example, both of whom have Scorpio rising and are considered quite attractive. In such cases other factors in the chart overpower or greatly modify the Ascendant influence. In general, Earth sign ascendants tend to be short and stocky except for Capricorn which is often thin or slender looking. Water ascendants often have pretty faces but their bodies are so often obese or out of proportion, except for Scorpio who is generally stocky with a beaked or prominent nose. Of course, other powerful planets or patterns in the chart can modify these descriptions to varying degrees. Determining a person's correct ascendant is not an easy task, mostly due to the fact that it changes sign roughly every two hours and that not everyone keeps accurate records. Then there is the astrologer's nightmare -daylight savings time(double summer and war time as well), which can

throw you off by half a sign or more. Finally, there are often other overpowering elements in the chart which can sometimes eclipse or overshadow the Ascendant's influence. It's no wonder over fifty percent of charts have incorrect Ascendants(and Midheavens). This is particularly so with celebrities who often give false or modified birth data usually for reasons of privacy. Favourite strategies include changing the year or reversing AM and PM. Relying soley on birth data is not enough. It helps tremendously to visually recognize the various Ascendants in people. I do this all the time with the outer planet positions which are easier to spot or recognize because of their long-term influences. It's a little trickier with rising signs, though, but with time and practice it can be done. It also helps to know that neighbouring signs are as different as night and day, and that this helps astrologers to decide between two rising signs. Also, masculine rising signs(fire or air) are generally taller, leaner, and more extroverted in nature, whereas the feminine ascendants(earth and water) are usually shorter, stockier, and more introverted in nature . A good way to narrow down the ascendant is to consider the element. Fire ascendants have that wild, energetic, and expressive look about them. Air ascendants have that social, refined, and intellecual look. Earth ascendants have that firm, tough, down to earth look. Water ascendants have that dreamy, sensitive, and domesticated look. Once you've figured out the element you can work on the specific sign.

Venus and Mars:

Perhaps next in importance after the Ascendant, when considering beauty, especially among females -is the planet Venus. The Ascendant is the covering, but Venus is the substance. Lady Venus, ruler of Taurus, is a very sensual and earthy planet. It rules the erotic or torrid aspects of love and sensuality. Venus is most desirable in the feminine signs, particularly in the earth signs, and most of all in Taurus -its ruling sign. Someone with both a masculine ascendant and a feminine Venus is truly a most attractive and desirable person, especially if female. Venus in fire can be passionate but it loses much of its femininity and can be crude or insensitive. Venus in air comes closest to being bisexual and has a very cerebral approach to sex. Mars is best in the fire and air signs keeping the body trim and active and therefore contributing much to a person's beauty or level of physical attraction. Mars in fire, and especially in Aries -its ruling sign, is often found in the charts of atheletes or people in occupations where physical strength, speed, and stamina are required. Mars in air is more mentally or socially than physically active, but stays trim and attractive nonetheless. These descriptions are especially true if the ascendant or rising sign is also in fire or air. Mars in Earth tends to be slow and sluggish while Mars in water lacks energy and confidence. These shortcomings will especially be evident if the ascendant is also in a feminine sign. Men(or women) with both a masculine Ascendant and Mars are often physically attractive and challenging to the opposite sex.

Uranus:
Uranus is another planet that can make a real difference on a beauty level. Like the Ascendant, it is an air sign planet, ruler of Aquarius, and air sign planets, when well placed are particularly strong endowers of beauty. Uranus in an air sign can give great beauty, and to a somewhat lesser degree in a fire sign. I have observed the various Uranus signs personally over the decades and can confidently vouch for this. The stunning beauty of Uranus in an air sign is especially evident when combined with a air or fire ascendant. As an example, some of the most gorgeous models are those born between 1968 and 1975, when Uranus was in Libra. Uranus in Libra is probably second only to Ascendant in Libra as far as beauty is concerned. Uranus in Gemini(1942-49) and Aquarius(1912-19) and (1995-2003) are also extremely attractive and exciting placements.

The Other Planets:

Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto well placed have their own brand of beauty to offer. The SUN is best in fire or air. A masculine Sun gives nobility and presence, especially when combined with a masculine Ascendant. Feminine Suns emit a lower force field and lack the "class" expressiveness, or dignity of their masculine counterparts

beauty and the planets

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/beautyplanets.html

The MOON is best in water or earth. Feminine Moons give that competent, classic, or "professional" look, especially when combined with a masculine Ascendant. A particularly classic combination among women is Libra rising with Moon in Capricorn which gives Barbie doll-like features. Masculine Moons, on the other hand, are primitive by comparison, especially the fire Moons which can be animalistic in nature. Air sign Moons can be attractive, but in a bland or superficial kind of way, and then only when combined with a masculine ascendant. A feminine Moon will go a long way towards someone's professional success. Most successful employees, buisnessmen, politicians, or professional people in general have feminine Moons. JUPITER is best in fire or air. Masculine Jupiters gives height and fullness and prominence, especially when they are combined with a masculine ascendant. Feminine Jupiters lack the enthusiasm, grandeur, and the moral fibre of their masculine counterpatrs. SATURN is best in earth or water. Feminine Saturns give fine form, definition, sturdiness, and endurance, especially when they are combined with a masculine ascendant. Saturn especially affects the hair, skin, nails, teeth, and bones in general. Masculine Saturns lack the finesse or control of their feminine counterpatrs. NEPTUNE is best in the water or Earth signs. Feminine Neptunes add grace, sensitivity, and refinement to one's physical features whereas masculine Neptunes give hard and almost clod-like features. I've noticed, for example, how many young people with Neptune in Sagittartius have long skinny legs with large feet. PLUTO is best in water or Earth. A Feminine Pluto adds depth, contrast, magnetism, and femininity to the appearance whearas a masculine Pluto can look haunting and almost bisexual in nature. Many with Pluto in Cancer, for example, have a jovial and domesticated look. Pluto in Leo people have a brilliant but icy gaze. Those with Pluto in Virgo have a chic or "high-definition" look to them. Pluto in Libra is often noted for its slim-model or cerebral look, and so on. I am uncertain about MERCURY's true rulership so I will not make any particular judgement on it, except to say that it appears to give a youthful and childish appearance when in the air signs. The MIDHEAVEN is even more unclear to me. What effect it has, if any, on the physical appearance has hardly been touched upon and requires further research. back to index back to main

celebrate your planets

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/celebrate.html

Your planetary positions at birth are uniquely your own, designating your specific personality, mode of being, or purpose in the cosmic scheme of things. They should be memorized, treasured, contemplated upon, or even celebrated. Celebrating your birthday(Sun sign) every year is of course most important, but what about your Moon and other planets -they too have their own "birthdays". The transiting Moon returns to your natal position once about every month, Mercury and Venus once roughly every year(always being close to the Sun), Mars once about every two years, Jupiter once about every twelve years, Saturn once about every thirty years, and Uranus once every eighty-four years. Even the Rising sign returns to your natal position once every day(based on the Earth's 24-hour rotation). It is not really necessary to throw a party on each of your transiting planetary returns. Just acknowledging them and contemplating on what they mean in your life is sufficient. And it does not even have to be at the specific time of their returns. Any day(or night) will do. Relax, put on some music, or dance or exercise while contemplating one or more of your placements. If you are into meditation, visualize the planet and sign(or house) and try to glean important or positive imformation from it. Nurture your identity or uniqueness via the knowledge of your planets and the signs they are in, especially the positive combinations. A planet in its own sign or element is very powerful and is usually expressed as a very positive characteristic or talent. Even the negative placements(planets in incompatible signs, elements, or genders) can be looked at or handled in a positive light. Then there are the planetary aspects by sign(and especially by degree). Focus on the trines(your gifts) rather than the squares(lessons to learn). Sun trine Mars, for example always gives confidence, energy, strength, and leadership ability, no matter what signs(or houses) they are located in. Sun trine Saturn is also positive but more difficult as the nature of both planets are not really compatible. Squares, especially those between friendly planets, can be seen as challenges or stepping stones rather than problems or obstacles. Grand trines(at least one planet in every sign of a particular element) are especially powerful and fortunate configurations, especially if they are in close or tight orb. Grand squares(planets in all four modes or quadruplicities), especially if tight by degree, can make or break you. Your specific planetary configuration or chart with all of its variations will not repeat itself in the same way for thousands of years, making you indeed a unique and special individual, and this is not taking into account gender, culture, or karmic history. Astrology basically deals with your inner or spiritual nature. Only if you are exact twins, will your inner and outer characteristics be identical, but even then the two souls will have different karmic histories or past lives, and therefore have slightly different futures as well. Planets do not dictate destiny, rather, they incline or suggest it. They give you a basic framework with which to work your free will, and without which we would all be very lost or uninclined. The One Great Spirit created astrology as a means to differentiate each of its infinite offspring in a simple, orderly, and beautiful cosmic manner, and it behooves us to applaud or celebrate this ingenious

determining your ascendant

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/rectify.html

How to Determine(or Ascertain) your Ascendant or Rising Sign

Your Ascendant or Rising sign is the Earth's position in the zodiac as seen from your time and place of birth. It is the sign seen rising on the eastern horizon, based on the Earth's 24 hour rotation. Knowledge of your correct Ascendant is absolutely essential to realizing your earthly or wordly role in this life. Here are four means by which to determine this pivotal factor. 1. You must have an accurate time and place of birth. To within twenty minutes if possible. Mother's memory is not always reliable. Check hospital records if you have them. The city or town is sufficient as far as place is concerned. 2. If you do not have an accurate time or place of birth, there are other ways to figure out your Ascendant or Rising sign, although it may take some work. There are people or astrologers who have an intimate knowledge of the physical and personal characteristics produced by each Ascendant sign, and can tell you yours simply by observing you. You can do this too if you acquire the basic knowledge and perceptive skills necessary. Masculine signs rising(fire or air) are almost always taller, lighter, and more attractive than feminine(earth or water) ascendants. Neighbouring signs are as different as night and day, in both looks and temperament. Fire signs rising have that active, sporty look about them, while air sign risings have a social or intellectual look about them. Earth sign risings have that down to earth practical look about them while water sign risings have that domestic or homey look about them. Aries is confident and energetic, Taurus is stubborn and stodgy, Gemini is slim and wiry, Cancer is roundish and motherly, Leo is impressive and dramatic, Virgo is critical and petite, Libra is simply beautiful, Scorpio is intense and forbidding, Sagittarius is athletic and cheerful, Capricorn is shy and serious, Aquarius is both friendly and rebellious, and Pisces is dreamy and sensitive. Note: Planets in the same sign as the ascendant can greatly modify its appearance according to the nature of the planets involved. If you have Sagittarius rising, for example, with Saturn there, your natural optimism and cheerfulness will be greatly toned down. "Unadulterated" ascendants or rising signs(those with no planets there) will produce the purest rising sign examples. 3. Another way to determine your Ascendant or Rising sign is to analyze your relationships. Important people in your life will almost always have their Suns in conjunction(same sign), opposition(opposite sign), or square(three signs away on either side), to your Ascendant. The opposition and conjunction occur frequently between close friends, intimates, or marriage partners. The square occurs frequently between parent and child or boss and employee. In general, if you have a masculine ascendant, you will feel comfortable in the presence of masculine sun signs(Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius) and uncomfortable in the presence of feminine sun signs(Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces). Similarily, feminine ascendants will feel comfortable with feminine sun signs and uncomfortable with masculine sun signs. Masculine suns emanate strong rays which threaten the sensitivity of a feminine ascendant so that a bulid up of tension occurs. Conversely, feminine suns don't emit enough power or presence which gives a masculine ascendant a creepy feeling which is also interpreted as a threat and cause of tension. So if you find, for example, that you have an excellent rapport with Leo or Aquarius sun signs, you will, in all probability have one of those two signs as your acendant or rising sign. Leo risings also enjoy a comfortable rapport with the remaining fire and air signs. Taurus and Scorpio suns(square) will be the most difficult or tense, but at the same time extremely important; Taurus is usually a boss or father figure for Leo, and Scorpio is usually important as a home or mother figure. There is usually at least one Sun/Ascendant square between parent and child so that a feeling of dependance or authority is established. If most of the people in your life are cardinal sun signs(Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), then you are very likely to have a cardinal ascendant. Same rule for fixed(Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) and mutable(Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) signs. 4. Finally, there are Transits and Progressions. Transits are the actual movements of the heavenly bodies as they affect your natal planets here and now while progressions are more symbolic in nature, using the day for a year method, but have equally powerful effects. Certain transits and progressions contacting your Ascendant(and Midheaven) position produce recognizable effects, and are often used to determine or correct

dividing the zodiac -how many signs?

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/signdivision.html

Did our zodiac always have twelve signs and will it continue to do so? What difference does it make if there are ten , twelve, or twenty signs? Our present twelve-sign zodiac is based on the fact that there are presently twelve ruling bodies or planets in our solar system. From a geocentric point of view this includes the Sun, Moon, and Earth. From a heliocentric point of view this includes two bodies beyond Pluto. Astrology is flexible, in that it allows growth or modification, so that new planets(and signs) can result, without losing its totality or effectiveness. When there were eight planets or signs, for example, each planet/sign contained more traits or sets of traits, and when we shall have sixteen or more, each will contain less traits than at present(unless new ones are created). In the ancient pre-diluvian ten sign zodiac, the planet Lucifer contained the virtues and vices of Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio. Being too powerful, it was destroyed or divided threefold, giving us Earth, Pluto, and and an as yet unrecognized third body(2003UB313?). The number of signs in a zodiac always remains even, for an uneven zodiac destroys its symmetry and balance, and there would be no aspects(by sign) as we know them. There would, for example, be no opposite sign, or trine sign, or any other basic configuration other than the conjunction. Even the bodies' chakras or energy centers, which symbolize planetary and zodiacal energies, are all even-numbered, and rightly so. Matter in general is an even-numbered reality. The odd numbers signify mental and spiritual principles and the invisible or sustaining side of creation. Two signifies the masculine/feminine, energy/matter, or duality principle of creation. Four signifies the basic elements(fire, earth, air, water) and the principle of sentience. Six is the plant or vegetative kingdom, eight is reptillian, ten is mammalian, twelve is human, and sixteen is angelic. Ninety-six and nine hundred seventy-two are the divine and logoic levels. Humanity in its present degenerated state is somewhere between the tenth and twelfth levels, although we are clearly intended to be on the twelfth. Twelve can be divided more easily than almost any other number and therefore serves as an ideal middle ground or bridge for the lower and higher kingdoms. The division of twelve by 1,2,3,4,6, and itself(12) gives us our current form of astrology; 12 signs, 6 polarities, 4 elements, 3 modes, 2 genders, and 1 zodiac. It is also the basis of the aspects; 1-conjunction, 2-oppositon, 3-trine, 4-square, 6-sextile, and 12-semi-sextile and inconjunct. When we evolve to the sixteen sign zodiac, four new planets and signs must be incorporated, and the aspect relationship will change significantly, resulting in a new kind of lifesyle or reality. All of the basic sign traits will still be there, except they will be more singled out or emphasized, and there will be a fourth sentient mode expressing a purer form of emotion or intuition. The order would look something as follows(note: this is only the author's speculation -there may be other ways of arranging the variables)...
1.Aries: cardinal fire 2.Taurus: fixed earth 3.Gemini: mutable air 5.Cancer: cardinal water 9.Libra: cardinal air 6.Leo: fixed fire 7.Virgo: mutable earth 10.Scorpio: fixed water 12.?????: sentient earth 13.Capricorn: cardinal earth 14.Aquarius: fixed air 16.???????: sentient fire

11.Sagittarius: mutable fire 15.Pisces: mutable water

4.??????: sentient water 8.??????: sentient air

The conjunction, oppositon, and square aspects would remain the same, and the semi-square would

come to life, but the nature of the other aspects would change significantly. On a wheel of 360 each sign would take up 22.5, and the characteristics would be more precise or defined. Also, the sixteen sign zodiac, having sentience or the number 4(4x4) as its foundation, would be ideally suited or functional to the astral rather than the mental plane, and its complement -the physical plane. Our twelve sign zodiac has the numbers 3 and 4(or 3x4) as its foundations and is ideally suited to either the mental or astral realms and its complements -the spiritual and physical realms. Twelve is a transitional number and so is the human state. The major zodiacs have 4 as its square or root number, hence 4, 16, 64, 256, and 1024 signs or petals. In the 1000+ zodiac(crown chakra), all of the sign characteristics are singled out and become signs of their own. The single Piscean attribute of forgiveness, for example, would occupy one whole sign, which in a 360 degree wheel would take up about 20 minutes of arc. The aspects or relationships each of these signs or attributes would make to one another would probably not necessitate the use of degrees or minutes and still be very complex indeed. There is probably no limit as to the number of signs or attributes the circle can be divided into, but for now, twelve is the universal middle or balance, at least for our human reality or realm of existence. Note: The starry constellations have nothing to do with our Earth-based zodiac, except to serve as guideposts for the movements of the planetary bodies. Zero degrees Aries or Libra begins where the Earth's equatorial plane intersects with the solar plane or ecliptic. These two intersecting points are called the equinoxes, from whence thirty-degree segments are measured off to become the signs. The signs are spatial entities -not constellations, and are totally based on a planet's relationship to the Sun. It is no coincidence that the autumnul equinox begins at 0 degrees Libra, for this is not only the true beginning of the zodiac for us, but reveals the zodiacal or sign identity of our planet. On Mars the initiating equinox point would correspond to 0 degrees Aries, on Jupiter to 0 degrees Sagittarius, and so on. So here, on planet Earth, the zodiac actually begins with Libra and ends with Virgo. There is no real beginning point in the zodiac. It's all relative.

Good Planets Sun, Ascendant, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, or Uranus in; Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius Moon, Midheaven, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, or Pluto in; Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, or Pisces Bad Planets Sun, Ascendant, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, or Uranus in; Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, or Pisces Moon, Midheaven, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, or Pluto in; Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius Results If you have 8 good planets, then astrologically you are an "8"(out of twelve). If you do not know your Ascendant or Midheaven signs, rate yourself on a scale of 10. Most people rate between 5 and 7(out of twelve), or between 4 and 6(out of ten). Good planets give us our virtues. Bad planets give us our vices.

geocentric versus heliocentric

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/geohelio.html

Heliocentric means "sun-centered", or the current way astronomers look at our solar system. Above is a heliocentric depiction of our solar system as it would appear to someone looking from the outsides, with the sun at the center and all the the other planets encircling it.

Geocentric means "earth-centered", or the astrological or pre-Copernicus view of our solar system. Above is a geocentric depiction of our Solar System as it would appear from someone on Earth, with the Earth at the center and the Sun, Moon, and planets encircling it. While both perspectives have their validity, astrology is mainly concerned with how the planets appear to the observer from Earth, and so the geocentric perspective is the more valid or meaningful of the two. If we lived on the Sun, then the heliocentric view would apply. Note that in both systems, the outer planets from Mars to Pluto remain unnaffected. The Sun, Moon, and inner planets, however, change places. back to index back to main

Note: Do not take offence if your Sun or any other planet falls in a "bad" sign. This does not necessarily mean you are a bad person. Our planetary placements are like the clothes we wear -they do not necessarily reveal the true condition of the soul -which is beyond astrology's ability to measure. Some souls have chosen difficult charts as challenges while others have earned them through their misdeeds in past lives, and the quality of your life now can earn you an excellent chart in the future.

missing signs in the horoscope

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/missingsigns.html

(where you are lacking)

Everybody has all the planets, but not everybody has all the signs. Missing signs show what you LACK. Ideally, we should have one planet in every sign, and in the RIGHT sign as well. Unfortunatelty, this is not possible in our present solar system set-up. You would have to live on the Sun for the best chances of this happenning. What you can hope for is the widest spread possible and for a majority of your planets to be well placed by element or gender. Contrary to popular opinion, having more than one planet in a sign is NOT a good thing. It is an EXCESS. So all of you double or triple Aries or Leos or Virgos. etc. -you are more pains than you are blessings. Yes, two, three, or more planets in one sign does make you "specialized", but is specialization such a good thing? What this world needs more of is generalists and not specialists. Specialists bore you with with their details and excesses. Generalists on the other hand will keep you interested because they can see all sides and put all the pieces together. They are perfectly balanced in all areas of life. Sure, they may flit from one thing to another, but that's how we were meant to be. Life is a kaleidascope of activities, and to be stuck in a few areas all the time is unhealthy and unproductive. Everybody has a Sun(ego, central self), but not everybody has planets in Leo. People with no Leo energy running through them are not very creative, warm, or fun to be with. They lack pride and dignity and a sense of centeredness. This is especially so if the Sun is in earth or water. Everybody has a Moon(emotions, roots), but not everybody has planets in Cancer. People with no Cancer energy running through them do not really know what home and family life and deep emotions are really all about. This is especially so if the Moon is in Fire or air. Everybody has a Mercury(ability to learn/reason/communicate) but not everybody has planets in Gemini. People without the Gemini energy running through them are often incapable of understanding how others thrive on knowledge, diversty, and constant change. This is especially so if Mercury is in earth or water. Everybody has a Venus(the capacity to produce and enjoy), but not everyone has planets in Taurus. People without the Taurus energy running through them, lack the shrewdness and possessiveness to really profit from this life, especially in the financial or material sense. This is especially so if Venus is in fire or air. Everybody has a Mars(drive and energy system), but not everyone has planets in Aries. People without the Arian energy running through them do not really know what it's like to be truly alive and in the NOW and are most likely lacking in energy, confidence, and initiative. This is especially so if Mars is in water or earth. Everybody has a Jupiter(ability to grow and believe), but not everyone has planets in Sagittarius. People without the Sagittarian energy running through them lack enthusiasm, optimism, scope, and spiritual interest. This is especially so if Jupiter is in water or earth. Everybody has a Saturn(sense of limitation/preservation/survival), but not everyone has planets in Capricorn. People without the Capricorn energy running through them have little self discipline, control, or organizational ability, and lack seriousness. This is especially so if Saturn is in fire or air. Everybody has a Uranus(the need to be free and different), but not everyone has planets in Aquarius. People without the Aquarian energy running through them lead fairly conventional lives and do not really feel the need to buck the tide or change the status quo. This is especially so if Uranus is in earth or water. Everybody has a Neptune(our need to rest, withdraw, or escape), but not everyone has planets in

Pisces. People without the Pisces energy running through them do not really know how to be weak or passive and just let things be. This is especially so if Neptune is in fire or air. Everybody has a Pluto(desire or need to bury the past and start anew), but not everyone has planets in Scorpio. People without the Scorpion energy running through them lack true depth and intensity and will not really want to search out those dark and forbidden mysteries of life and death. This is especially so if Pluto is in air or fire. Everybody has the Earth/Ascendant(our need to harmonize/relate/give-receive pleasure), but not everyone has planets in Libra. People without the Libran energy running through them are not much into socializing, compromising, or sharing. This is especially so if the Ascendant or Rising sign is in earth or water. Everybody also has a twelfth planet(our need to contribute to society), but not everyone has planets in Virgo. People without the Virgoan energy running through them can lead really messy, unethical, and unproductive lives. This is especially so if this planet is in fire or air. back to index back to main

planetary affinities, disposition, and mutual reception

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/affinities.html

Planetary Affinities Disposition and Mutual Reception

In an astrology without degrees, what is it that attracts one planet to another? Obviously, it is the nature of the planet itself -and the sign or element it is in, plus a certain amount of free will or maturity on the part of the native(s) involved. Fire and air planets will naturally gravitate towards one another as will earth and water. But what if that fire or air planet is in an earth or water sign? A good knowledge of planetary rulerships(dignities) and sign/planet harmony(synastry) is needed to tackle this subject. Basically, masculine planets and signs(Fire and Air) get along well with one another as do feminine(Earth or Water) planets and signs. This differentiation between masculine and feminine(or positive and negative/extrovert and introvert/etc.) is the most BASIC and IMPORTANT divisor and indicator of compatiblity or affinity in astrology. Everything else is an extensiion of it. Next in importance are the elements, modes, and polarities, and the individual signs or planets themselves. The chart below illustrates this.
MASCULINE/POSITIVE FIRE/SPIRIT Mars/Aries Sun/Leo Jupiter/Sagittarius cardinal fixed mutable FEMININE/NEGATIVE EARTH/MATTER Venus/Taurus Mercury/Virgo Saturn/Capricorn fixed mutable cardinal WATER/SOUL Pluto/Scorpio Neptune/Pisces Moon/Cancer AIR/MIND Earth/Libra Uranus/Aquarius Mercury/Gemini

Mars or Aries, for example, gets along best with itself, followed by the other two fire principles, and lastly the Air element. Of the air element, Earth/Libra is the most intimate because of the similarity of mode(both are cardinal). Fire does not get along with either the Earth element(which it finds too strong) or the water element(which it finds too weak). Air is equal or complementary to fire but is superior or dominating to Earth and inferior or subordinate to Water. Earth and Water are equal or complementary to each other but incompatible to either fire or air. Both the masculine and femininie genders are conflicting towards one another but equal in strength and this must be so in order to preserve balance in the universe.

Planetary Affinities
Planets in their own signs(dignity) are strongest and purest and seek one another out as kings seek kings or presidents seek presidents. There are twelve such positions and are found in the charts of highly gifted or powerful individuals. They are: Sun in Leo, Moon in Cancer, Mercury in Gemini, Venus in Taurus, Mars in Aries, Jupiter in Sagittarius, Saturn in Capricorn, Uranus in Aquarius, Neptune in Pisces, Pluto in Scorpio, Earth/Ascendant in Libra, and an as yet undetermined body or planet in Virgo. Next in power are planets in their opposite signs, trine signs, square, sextile, and inconjunct or semi-sextile, and they too will primarily seek one another out within their own group or level. Sun in Aquarius, for example, is an opposition placement(the planet and sign are opposing in quality) and will primarily seek out other opposition placements, such as Mars in Libra, Venus in Scorpio, Uranus in Leo(mutual reception), and so on.

In this way every one of the 144 planetary placements in astrology(12 planets x 12 signs) will have eleven other placements that are of primary importance to them. These placements can be grouped as follows...(select any planetary placement within any group below and see which other placements are most closely associated with it). Example: the most important or significant placements for a Sun in Leo are Moon in Cancer, Mercury in Gemini, etc. For a Pluto in Scorpio they will be of the same group(Sun in Leo, Moon in Cancer, etc.)

Dispositing Planets
All planets(except for those in their home sign) are dispositing planets; that is, they are reliant or dependant on

2 of 3

20/11/2013 16:31

planetary affinities, disposition, and mutual reception

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/affinities.html

other planets in the chart(including other people's charts) for self-completion or fulfillment. Disposition works through rulership. Sun in Aries, for example is disposited through Mars, which may in turn be disposited through another planet. It is possible to have a chain of dispositing planets such as the following: Sun in Aries/Mars in Gemini/Mercury in Taurus/Venus in Aquarius/Uranus in Sagittarius/Jupiter in Leo/Sun in Aries. In such a case, all of these planets work together in some way. A planet in its own sign stands alone and can freely give or refuse to give of itself to the rest of the chart. Even the transits and progressions of other planets to it don't have much effect. A planet in it's own sign is a MASTER planet and needs no one or nothing(except other master planets). Dispositing planets, on the other hand, reflect all of our needs and interdependencies.

Mutual Reception
Two planets in mutual reception are the next best thing to a planet in its home sign, especially if they are of the same element or polarity. Two planets are in mutual reception when they disposit each other. example 1: Sun in Aries and Mars in Leo Each planet is in the sign the other rules so that there is a cross-link or interdependancy. Both planets complete or fulfill each other, and in a positive way, since both are trine aspect(by sign). example 2: Venus in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus These two planets wil also fulfill or complete each other but it won't be easy as the two are in square(by sign). Mutual reception can also work by transit or between planets in two people's charts. If you are a Sun in Aries, for example, you will be especially sensitive to the transit of Mars in Leo, or to someone's Mars in Leo. back to index back to main

planetary blending

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/blending.html

Planetary Blending
Planets in the same sign, element, or even gender work closely together, blending their natures, and should be interpreted together. Let's take someone born on January 1, 1950, at noon GMT, London, England. This individual will have the following planetary positions (degree positions are not necessary for this exercise).... Ascendant in Aries Midheaven in Capricorn Moon in Gemini Sun in Capricorn Mercury in Capricorn Venus in Aquarius Mars in Libra Jupiter in Aquarius Saturn in Virgo Uranus in Cancer Neptune in Libra Pluto in Leo

The first law of blending is GENDER(positive/negative, masculine/feminine, etc.). So let's separate the positions into two main camps or groups as follows...
1 AscAri, MooGem, VenAqu, MarLib, JupAqu, NepLib, PluLeo 2

MidCap, SunCap, MerCap, SatVir, UraCan

In group 1, Ascendant, Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto are in masculine signs and blend and work together to varying degrees as do Midheaven, Sun, Mercury, Saturn, and Uranus in feminine signs in group 2. As the Ascendant and Midheaven are the two most identifying features in a chart, how the planets relate to them is very revealing. In this case, the appearance or temperament(Ascendant) is colored by the Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto natures, and the career or reputation (Midheaven) will be colored by the Sun, Mercury, Saturn, and Uranus natures. The above is a little vague, however, so let's further refine the separation by ELEMENT, as shown below...
1 AscAri, PluLeo MooGem, VenAqu, MarLib, JupAqu, NepLib, 2

UraCan

MidCap, SunCap, MerCap, SatVir

In group 1, the natures of the Ascendant and Pluto strongly color one another as both are in the fire element. This individual will be somewhat of a loner and relate very intensely with others. Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune also strongly blend with or color one another all being in air signs. Neptune, for example, will tend to drain the energies of Mars, or conversely, Mars will energize the Neptunian imagination. In group 2, Uranus stands alone, being the only planet in its particular element(water). Least integrated planets often stand out in the chart, basically acting alone, and retaining much of their purity. Midheaven, Sun, Mercury, and Saturn in earth signs all blend and work very closely. As the Midheaven is involved, this person will achieve a certain amount of public recognition or authority(Sun), be involved in communications(Mercury), and will be responsible and enduring(Saturn). There is one final separation, by SIGN, as follows...
1 AscAri / PluLeo MooGem / VenAqu-JupAqu / MarLib-NepLib, 2

UraCan

MidCap-SunCap-MerCap / SatVir

In group 1, the natures of Venus and Jupiter, followed by Mars and Neptune, are the most closely blended or integrated. They are "conjunct" by sign and should definitely be interpreted together. In group two, Midheaven, Sun, and Mercury blend natures completely and are interpreted as one. There is also the question of compatible and incompatible blending of the planetary natures. A blending of Sun and Mars, for example, which will increase the energy and vigor, will be much more desirable than a blending of Sun and Saturn which will restrain or limit the creativity or expression. As another example, Sun-Neptune blendings always weaken the health or ego whereas Sun-Uranus always strengthen it.

planetary blending

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/blending.html

Basically, the masculine planets -Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, and Ascendant, blend best with each other, as do the feminine planets -Moon, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, and Midheaven. Fire planet blendings -Sun, Mars, or Jupiter, are of course most potent or desirable, as are Earth planet blendings -Venus, Saturn, Midheaven?, Air planet blendings -Mercury, Uranus, Ascendant, and Water planet blendings -Moon, Neptune, Pluto.

planetary element distribution in our solar system

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/planetelement.html

Planetary Element Distribution in Our Solar System and Sign Rulership

There is a basic division in astrology dividing the primary or basic signs and planets from the secondary or refined ones. The primary planets/signs form the raw elements of astrology and are associated with the fire and earth elements. They denote simplicity, crudeness, and primal origin. The secondary or refined planets/signs are the offspring and development or evoluton of the primary group and are represented by the air and water elements. They denote sensitivity, intelligence, sophistication, refinement, transcendance, and evolution. The following table clarifies this... Primary planets/signs(fire and earth) Sun/Leo(fire) Mercury/Virgo(earth) Venus/Taurus(earth) Mars/Aries(fire) Jupiter/Sagittarius(fire) Saturn/Capricorn(earth) Secondary planets/signs(air and earth) Moon/Cancer(water) Earth?/Gemini(air) Eris?/Libra(air) Pluto/Scorpio(water) Neptune/Pisces(water) Uranus/Aquarius(air)

You wlll note that with the exception of the Moon, all of the visible traditional planets are the true rulers of the fire or earth signs, wheareas all of the modern planets thus far rule only air or water signs. If the pattern continues, any more new planets discovered, especially those beyond Pluto, will have to rule air or water signs. Since all three water signs are already spoken for(Moon, Neptune, and Pluto), and one air sign(Uranus), only two more bodies(ruling Gemini and Libra) need to be acknowledged. Since both Gemini and Virgo belong to the first or subjective side of the zodiac, it is more than likely that both their true rulers will be located in the inner or visible(to the naked eye) solar system. Taurus, also in the 1st half of the zodiac, belongs to the inner solar system, so I give it Venus. Libra, on the other hand, belongs the second or objective side of the zodiac, so its true ruler may well be in the outer solar system(beyond Saturn). Recently discovered Eris may just be the body for Libra. If according to this scheme, Venus rules Taurus and Eris rules Libra, then what of Mercury which currently still rules both Gemini and Virgo? If the primary scheme is anything to go by, then Mercury should rule Virgo. If so, the only planet left for Gemini is Earth itself. Lately, I've entertained the idea that Gemini rather than Libra could rule Earth via the Ascendant or Rising sign influence. Both are air signs so it wouldn't change that much from one to the other. Earth's sub-rulership would then be Virgo rather than Taurus(both rule the physical body or appearance). This is just speculation of course, but I've never heard it discussed and it merits consideration. Below is a diagram outlining planets and their associated elements based on the primary/secondary and subjective/objective divisions of the zodiac... Planet-element distribution in our solar system according to sign rulership

The first thing one notices is that ALL the true fire sign rulers(Sun, Mars, and Jupiter) are included within the traditional planets' list(Sun to Saturn). This could not be realized until Neptune and Pluto were discovered and assigned their water-sign rulerships leaving the fire-sign rulers clear, and now this same process is completing with the earth-air combo. Since fire and earth are basic or primary elements in astrology, their planetary rulers should be the most obvious or visible -and they are -beginning with the fire trio. If we take out Sun/Leo, Mars/Aries, and Jupiter/Sagittarius from the traditional list we are left with Moon(Cancer), Mercury(Gemini/Virgo), Venus(Taurus/Libra), and Saturn(liberated by Uranus hence now true or primary ruler of Capricorn). The Moon(Cancer) is already accounted for so this leaves us with Mercury and Venus. Since earth is the primary element, then the earth signs rather than air should be assigned to Mercury and Venus -or Mercury/Virgo and Venus/Taurus. This leaves Gemini and Libra without true planetary rulers. Gemini is in the first half of the zodiac so its ruler should be in the inner solar system(preJupiter). Earth for Gemini? Libra, on the other hand is in the second half of the zodiac inferring a collective influence, therefore it must be located in the outer solar system where the collective planets/signs dominate. Recently discovered Eris may be an ideal candidate for Libra. Why are most of the inner or visible planets in our solar system associated with the primary elements of fire and earth and the outer invisible ones with air or fire? Obviously, fire and earth represent the basic or crude impulses in man and these become more sensitized or refined with time and distance(air and water). Growth is seen as expanding outwards or away from the Sun beginning with the growth planet itself -Jupiter. The later planets represent further growths or evolutions. Also, why are the inner planets(Sun to Mars) associated with the first half of the zodiac and the outer ones(Jupiter and beyond) associated with the second half of the zodiac? Obviously the inner planets and early signs are associated with primary impulses and

1 of 2

planetary element distribution in our solar system

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/planetelement.html

functions and the outer planets and later signs with collective or transcendant impulses and influences. This truth is evident for us to see in the arrangement of the cosmic bodies of our solar system and their sign assignations. Subjective signs/planets (primal, individual, self-absorbed)) 1.Aries/Mars 2.Taurus/Venus 3.Gemini/Earth? 4.Cancer/Moon 5.Leo/Sun 6.Virgo/Mercury Objective signs/planets (social, reflective, collective) 7.Libra/Eris? 8.Scorpio/Pluto 9.Sagittarius/Jupiter 10.Capricorn/Saturn 11.Aquarius/Uranus 12.Pisces/Neptune

Why is not Neptune(ruler of the twelfth sign Pisces) the last planet in our solar system? Pluto is obviously not in his proper place, nor is anything beyond Pluto, yet these bodies have been slung out here through some great interplanetary catastrophe and need to be repositioned. Ideally, Pluto(and perhaps Eris as well) should be between Mars and Jupiter, yet something happened there long ago to change this. Even the small inner planets seem to be in disarray. Only the giant four(Jupiter to Neptune) seem to make any real sense as far as location and sequence are concerned. A lot of important or fundamental informaton about our solar system and its true history and development is missing or being witheld from us. I believe this will change. Part of humanity is now awakening and will reunite the rest with our brilliant and sometimes painful past. The rich symbolism of the planets and signs are the keys to remembering this past as well as establishing our future. The solar system speaks volumes to us through both its order and chaos and the concepts of primary and secondary as well as subjective and objective signs and planets are but two means though which to decipher this information. The conclusions presented in this article are not set in stone, but they are based on sound astrological principles which try to account for some kind of order or harmony in our part of the heavens. Our solar system may currently be in some kind of chaos or disorder, but it is popularly known that the chaos of the gods is the order of men. Obviously more work and study needs to be done here. I firmly believe that we are close to learning some or all of the final mysteries of astrology and that when that happens it will coincide with our own completion as universal beings. back to index back to main

planet-in-sign relations

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/planetinsignrelations...

There is presently a tendency in astrology to pick everthing apart and analyze things from there when a more united or integrated view would yield a better understanding. The four basic categorizations in astrology -planets, signs, aspects, and houses all basically mean one thing -twelve planetary positions. These twelve positions, in turn, also mean only one thing -the individual as a twelvefold or twelve-bodied being. When we understand that the Ascendant is planet Earth and that the Houses are nothing more than the Earth's relationship to the other planets, and that these relationships are based on gender, mode, element, or sign more than by degree, and that a planet's integral nature is based primarily on its sign placement, what we have left are the twelve planetary positions. When we also understand that each of these twelve planetary positions or layers of the self can interact individually amongst themselves or with someone else's planetary positions, either through default or free will, and that they are tempered or modified by sex, creed, and culture, then we have a solid understanding of the basic priciples involved in synastry(the astrology of relationships). In this work we shall deal with eleven bodies or planets, the twelfth of which is still unconfirmed or undetermined. These eleven bodies or planets are:
Sun: ruler of Leo and the principle of love or creativity Moon: ruler of Cancer and the principle of preservation or memory Earth/Ascendant: ruler of Libra and the principles of harmony, beauty, and relationships Mercury: ruler of Gemini/Virgo and the principle of communication Venus: ruler of Taurus and the principles of evaluation and appreciation Mars: ruler of Aries and the principles of energy, drive, and action Jupiter: ruler of Sagittarius and the principles of faith, growth, and abundance Saturn: ruler of Capricorn and the principle of structure, definition, and limitation Uranus: ruler of Aquarius and the principles of truth, freedom, and individuality Neptune: ruler of Pisces and the principles of understanding, forgiveness, and universality Pluto: ruler of Scorpio and the principles of death, transformation, and rebirth

All eleven have proven to be important and observable astrological influences. The Midheaven and/or Planet X as candidates for either Gemini or Virgo are still under study. Thanks to Linda Goodman and others, we all know how Sun signs(egos) relate to one another, but we are not just our Sun signs. We are also our Moon, Ascendant(Earth), Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and X signs. We are twelve-fold beings, capable of interacting in twelve different ways. How each of our twelve parts interact with someone(or something) else's twelve parts is what astrology is all about. Even Paul, in the New Testament declares that "we are all parts of one another". With twelve planets capable of expressing through twelve signs, there are a total of 144 astrological "parts" or planetary positions in astrology, all of which encompass the totality of human or animal experience, good or bad, here on Earth and elsewhere. Each of us comes with twelve of these parts at birth, depending on the time and place. To describe how all 144 planetary positions interact with one another would be too much to list here, but some rules and examples will suffice. Rule 1: Mutual comparisons(Sun-Sun, Moon-Moon, Mercury-Mercury, etc.) are the strongest. Rule 2: Interfunctional comparisons(Sun-Moon, Sun-Mercury, Sun-Venus, etc.) can make up for mutual incompatability. Rule 3: The sign, element, or gender should be used in terms of assessing the harmony or discord between two planets or signs. Aspects by degree intensify the effect. Rule 4: Both the planets and the signs should be compared when assessing compatability. Example 1: Jupiter in Leo versus Neptune in Scorpio: Not only are both planets incompatible, but so are the signs involved. Jupiter(Sagittarius) represents the 10th house for Neptune(Pisces), While Neptune represents the 4th house for Jupiter. Likewise, Leo is the 10th house for Scorpio, and Scorpio is the 4th for Leo. What this all means is that Jupiter in Leo is the ultimate boss or dominating influence

for Neptune in Scorpio. Neptune in Scorpio, on the other hand, is the ultimate mother figure or nurturer for Jupiter in Leo. In turn, Neptune in Scorpio would completely dominate or control Mercury(Gemini) in Aquarius, which would in turn have a similar effect on Mercury(Virgo) in Taurus, and so on. It's cyclical and requires a knowledge of rulerships and how the signs, elements and modes relate to one another. The diagram below outlines the zodiacal relationships between planet-in-sign placements that are in their home signs.

In general, the sign or element ahead always has power or dominance over the sign or element before. This means that Earth dominates Fire which dominates Water which dominates Air which dominates Earth. The upper square or 10th house(cardinal/Capricorn) is the most dominating or controlling, followed by the 2nd and 6th. 12th, 8th, and 4th are submissive. This is on both a planetary and sign level. In the above diagram, Saturn in Capricorn is most dominant over Mars in Aries while Neptune in Pisces is most submissive. 1st, 5th, 9th and 3rd, 7th, 11tth are basically equal in power. Dominance/submission equates to the negative or discordant aspects while equality equates to the positive ones There is also what is known as mutual reception and dispositorship. Mutual reception is when one planet is in the sign the other rules. An example is Sun in Aries and Mars in Leo. If examined with the methods already outlined, both the planets and the signs will be found to be very compatible. Mutual reception strengthens this compatabilty even further, as each planet holds the key to the other. Mutual reception can work natally, by transit or progression, or between two or more persons. Dispositorship occurs when two or more planets are linked by rulership often forming a chain. An example is Sun in Aries/Mars in Gemini/Mercury in Pisces/Neptune in Sagittarius/Jupiter in Sagittarius. In this chain the Sun disposits Mars which disposits Mercury, which disposits, Neptune which disposits Jupiter. It cannot go further because Jupiter is in its own sign. All five of these planets work together and must be interpreted that way. Dispositorship can work natally or between two or more persons. The effect of any planetary placement on any other can be known using the above methods. These methods, however, will remain somewhat ambiguous untill every sign has its own definite or individual ruler. back to index back to main

planets and vibratory levels

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/vibration.html

Planets and Vibratory Levels

Each of us vibrates at twelve specific levels and one overall level according to the planetary placements in our chart. The specific criteria by which to measure a planet's level of purity or vibration are: dignity, polarity, element, mode, and gender. Planets in signs of their own element(especially those in their home sign or dignity), followed by planets in their opposing element(especially those in the sign opposite their dignity) give the purest and highest-vibrating levels. Planets in signs semi-sextile, quincunx, and especially in square to their dignity, give the most impurity or lowest vibrations.

Overall Chart Vibration

Make a list of your twelve planetary placements(ten if you don't know your Ascendant or Midheaven), and add up the ones that fall under rows 1 and 2 in the Specific Planetary Vibration table. If, for example you have a total of 6 planetary placements that fall in either rows 1 or 2, then 6 is your overall vibratory level. Most people average a vibratory level 5 to 7(out of 12), or 5 to 6(out of 10) and are most compatible with others of a similar level. A vibration level of 3 or less is very low and indicates someone with a very negative or problematic nature. Most of us vibrate in the 4 to 8 range and are a roughly even mix of vices and virtues. A vibration level of 9 or higher is very high and indicates someone with very high standards, ideals, or capacities. We all have our own particular frequency or vibration level and maintain or control it through our daily needs and activities. Our environment can also play an important role. The lower your level, for example, the more you are likely to indulge in vibration-lowering activities, such as eating, drinking, smoking, and sex. You will also be more likely drawn to heavily populated environments where pollution and negativity are prevalent. The higher your levels, the less you are likely to indulge in such activities or frequent such environments, and the better chances you have of pursuing more "spiritual" or idealistic goals. Becoming a vegetarian or fruitarian, for example, often requires a high-vibrating chart to begin with. Also, children or young people generally vibrate higher than older people because of the tendency to degenerate with time. Women, in particular, vibrate on a slightly higher level than men -which is why their voices are higher, and their overall sensitivity and longetivity greater.

Pluto -your super planet

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/pluto.html

Your Super Planet

Discovered in 1930, Pluto is the super planet of our solar system. Despite its distance and size, Pluto packs a powerful punch, just like Scorpio -the sign it rules. This is because Pluto power is focused power. Like Scorpio, Pluto focuses all of its energy and attention on the task at hand, giving 100 % of itself. This is why miraculous feats are sometimes performed under its influence. Superman, who was poplarized 9 years later in comic book fashion, represents Pluto power (so do all other superheroes and supervillains). Instead of wasting his energy on food and sex and other debilitating habits, he redirects all of his energy into serving mankind. Superman has Pluto in Leo, the sign of heroics. Wherever you have Pluto in your chart, that is where you can exercise extreme power -for good or bad. Pluto in Gemini(1882-1914): These are the superthinkers who developed our present means of communication and local transportation. Rare books, magazines, and newspapers, secret phones and tapping devices, private education, secret passwords or codes, trains, buses, and bicycles, secret doorways and passages, insider knowledge, telepathic abilities, brainwashing techniques, intense mental focus and concentration, etc. -these are all means through which Pluto in Gemini individuals excel. Pluto in Cancer(1912-1939): These are the supermoms and superdads who developed our present home and family lifestyle. These people can bore through you with their intense emotions and incite an intense reactions. They love food, but it can kill them more than anyone else. They are especially vulnerable to cancerous diseases. They have phenomenal memories and are extremely sentimental. They go all out when it comes to buying or furnishing a home or conducting family funerals. These people can make fortunes in commerce or real estate and always have some money, land, or property they never tell you about. They are survivors in the face of incredible odds. This because they have great instincts which they usually heed or follow. Pluto in Leo(1937-1958): These are the supercreatives who developed our present entertainment industry with its accent on crime and sex(not to be confused with earlier Hollywood/Neptune in Leo). Pluto enjoys stretching limits, and in Leo it adulterates all aspects of creativity, showmanship, and entertainment in general. Sex, violence, horror, and science-fiction(all favourite Pluto subjects) are graphically and dramatically portrayed either theatrically, on screen, or in real life. These people can make exceptional leaders and governors or they can become ruthless bosses and dictators. Love affairs with these people can be heavenly or hellish and relationships with children can be wonderful or atrocious. Heroes, princes and princesses reflect the postive aspects of Pluto in Leo while sodomists, rapists, and child molesters reflect the negative side. Pluto in Virgo(1956-1972): These are the superservers who are changing our health and educational systems some through technology and others through more natural or holistic means. These people are extremely

selective with their choice of work or employment. Whether they are concious of it or not, they are looking for that one in a million job that only they can do well, and untill they find it they will continue to experience instability and upheaval in their working lives. They hold the same attitude with their diet and health. They cannot just eat anything -many are vegetarians and exercise fanatics. They seek purity and perfection in whatever they do and many of them have the Christ conciousness(Jesus/Paul/Appolonious had Pluto in Virgo). They are also environmentalists who will do whatever they can to keep our planet clean and healthy. Pluto in Libra(1971-1984): These are the superartists and mediators who are striving to bring beauty, peace and justice to our world. They are extremely selective in their relationships for the simple reason that once accepted they will give you their all. They will scan you to death untill you meet their criteria, and even then they may hold back on you. They have either exceptional or awful talent or taste in either music or art and can be counted on to give a poignant or stinging critiques. They are great manipulators of individuals and relationships and can make exceptional lawyers, mediators, or con artists. Some have exquisite inner and even outer beauty which can only be described as angelic and such can make their fortune in fashion or modeling or take the low road and become prostitutes. They are also keen appraisers or evaluators hate superficiality. Once they end a relationship it is usually permanent so be careful how you treat them. Pluto in Scorpio(1984-1995): Pluto is at home(in its own sign) in Scorpio so that this generation expresses its pure and unadulterated qualities. These qualities are: depth, intensity, passion, power, focus, singularity, extremism, exclusivity, permanence, fixity, etc. There is no stopping these people once they set their sights on a goal or mission. Even death, which is natural for them, will not be an obstacle. They have x-ray senses which can cut through all the crap and show them things as they really are. They are very old souls with tremendous emotional depth and intensity. They know the score(subconciously) on planet Earth -and what needs to be done about it. It's no use lying or fibbing to them: they want your total honesty and commitment so they can carry out their regenerative goals or purposes. Pluto in Sagittarius(1995-2008): These are the superpriests and explorers who are forever expanding our horizons, both physically and spiritually. They are fearless travellers and adventurers who will leave no stone unturned. They wish to acquire divine secrets and powers and in so doing can become obsessed or fanatical. There is a danger here of inflexibility and narrowness and of forcing one's beliefs on others such as in the times of the Inquisition. On the other hand they can achieve their goal of actually seeing God face to face. They are also exceptional predators or hunters and record-breaking atheletes. They are at home in the wild and have a natural rapport with animals, especially horses. They are in general incredibly lucky and optimistic. back to index back to main

producing and consuming signs

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/producing.html

In astrology, the Earth signs are concerned with production or output, whereas the Water signs are concerned with consumption or input. The fire and air signs are neither consumptive nor productive -they just ARE. Taurus always thinks in terms of PROFIT or GAIN. Capricorn is concerned with USEFULNESS and ECONOMY. Virgo needs to IMPROVE or OPTIMIZE. Cancer, on the other hand, thinks in terms of what it NEEDS or is DEPENDANT on. Scorpio is DESIRE or the need to POSSESS, and Pisces is DRAIN, ABSORPTION, or LOSS. In summary, the Earth signs represent productivity, constructivity, or gain, while the Water signs represent consumptivity, destructivity, or loss. The predominance of Earth or Water in your chart will determine whether you are more of one or the other. Count the number of planets in Earth or Water signs in your chart. If the time of birth is unknown, and you do not know the Ascendant and/or Midheaven use only the ten known planets. Number of planets in Earth signs Number of planets in Water signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) _____ _____ Two or three planets in Earth signs is normal, and should ideally be balanced with two or three planets in water signs. This means that you produce and consume in equal amounts and are neither wealthy nor in debt. When there are more than three planets in Earth you are very productive, but if there is an equal or greater number of Water planets, it all gets wasted or negated. People with too many water planets and not enough earth planets are always in debt or at a loss in some way. I know someone with three planets in Earth and four in Water -plus the Ascendant(making 5), and no matter how hard he tries, he always eventually lands in the gutter. He also has a shortage of fire signs(only the Midheaven) which doesn't help any(lack of energy, motivation). He does however excel in talking and socializing(grand air trine). WHICH planets in earth or water, can fine tune the interpretation. Someone can have an equal amount of Earth or Water planets, but are they well-placed? That is, are the planets and the signs their in compatible? Moon or Venus in Taurus, for example, are much better or more productive than Sun or Mars in Taurus. This is because the Moon and Venus are feminine planets and more at home in the feminine sign of Taurus. Sun and Mars, on the other hand, are masculine planets, and not really compatible or well placed in Taurus which is a feminine sign. Both groups will produce, but the quality will be superior for the former, where the gender of both the planet and the sign match. Likewise, there will be GOOD and BAD water sign placements. In general, Moon, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, and Midheaven do better in Earth or Water signs, than Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, or Ascendant.

progressions and transits

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/progtran.html

The predictive side of astrology uses what is known as progressions to map out long term trends in the individual and transits to map out short term as well as long term events(when using the outermost planets).

Nobody has any arguments with the transits. They are the actual day to day movements of the planetary bodies and how they affect your natal positions by aspecting them. The Moon, moving 12 degrees per day, is the minute handle on the clock, and is an excellent timing or setting off mechanism for activating your natal, progressed, or slower transiting planets. The Moon has the greatest sway over our daily activities and anyone with planets in Cancer or Capricorn will be especially sensitive to its transits. The transiting Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars move from one to two degrees per day(except for retrograde movement) and range from being daily to weekly influences over individuals and events. The Sun spotlights whatever planet it aspects(especially by degree) and anyone with planets in Leo is especially sensitive to its influence. Mercury transits affect all forms of communication, work, and transport, and are especially powerful in the lives of those who have Gemini or Virgo emphasized in their charts. Venus transits affect all activities having to do with pleasure, socializing, and money and has a particularly strong sway over individuals with Taurus and to a lesser extent Libra in their charts. Mars transits stimulate activity of all kinds, but especially sports and sex and sometimes even war and violence. People with planets in Aries and to a lesser degree Scorpio are especially sensitive to the transits or movements of Mars. The transits of the outer planets from Jupiter to Pluto are much slower and have longer term influences. Jupiter opens doors and opportunities and stimulates growth and expansion and is especially powerful in the lives of those who have Sagittarius emphasized and to a lesser extent Pisces. Saturn tests, restricts, and solidifies, and sets limits or boundaries and is especially powerful in the lives of those with Capricorn emphasized in their chart and to a lesser extent Aquarius. The three outermost planets move very slowly so that their transits over any planet in your chart are powerfully and deeply felt. Uranus shocks, surprises, liberates, originates, and reverses, and is powerful in the lives of those who have Aquarius emphasized in their chart. Neptune confuses, sensitizes, deludes, soothes, and intoxicates, and is powerful in the lives of those with Pisces emphasized in their chart. Pluto emphasizes, deepens, obssesses, intensifies, destroys, eliminates, and rebuilds, and is powerful in the lives of those with Scorpio emphasized in their chart.

Progressions work on a "day for a year" basis and reflect an inner unfoldment which you make happen in your outer life. There are two main methods of progressing your planetary positions; one is to count every day from your birth as one year and see where the planets have moved. This means, for example, that the 30th day from your birthday will show what is to happen on your 30th year of life. In this method the inner planets, especially the Moon will show definite changes, whereas the planets from Jupiter to Pluto will show very little change. The other method, which is simpler and more beautiful, is to take your planetary positions as they are, to the degree and minute, and project them into the future using the "one degree equals one year" method. If your natal Sun is at 2 degrees Aries, for example, when you are thirty years old it will be at 2 degrees Taurus. When the Sun or any planet progresses into a new sign, you will begin to acquire some of the characteristics of that new sign, but it will never overpower your original placement -it will just enhance or modify it. We are continually growing and changing, and progressions are the indicator of this. To experience all of the progressions in your chart you must live to be at least 360 years old, which is a real rarity these days. back to index back to main

retrogrades and reincarnation

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/retrogrades.html

When you a see an "R" beside a planetary position it means that the planet is in retrograde or backward motion. Planets always move forward, but due to different orbital distances and speeds a planet will sometimes be overtaken, and appear to slow down, stop, and go backwards. Only the Sun, Moon, and Earth(Ascendant) do not have a retrograde motion. In Astrology, retrogrades are Piscean in nature signifying a turning inward, a loss of power, karma, or negative tendencies brought over from a past life. The planet that is retrograde and the sign or house it is in, and its relationship to the other planets(aspects) will all describe the nature of this loss or weakness in your life. On average, most people have two or three retrograde planets, signifying past lessons that have not been learned or resolved. Some people, however, can have as many as five or six(heavy karma), and others none at all(clean slate). Below are the planets and what they signify when when retrograde. Mercury retrograde: in past lives you have spoken or written carelessly or in a negative manner(especially if Mercury is badly placed or aspected) and in this life you are paying for it by being shy, quiet, or fearful of speaking up for yourself. Others may talk down on you or criticize you for no apparent reason. Venus retrograde: in past lives you have been too selfish or indulgent(especially if Venus is badly placed or aspected) and now you must give more of yourself and exercise restraint if you are to be successful in your dealings with others. Mars retrograde: in past lives you were too aggressive or impatient with others(especially if Mars is badly placed or aspected) and now you feel helpless to defend yourself or initiate anything. Jupiter retrograde: in past lives you abused your wealth and influence and compromised your morals by indulging in liquor and sex and gambling(especially if Jupiter is badly placed or aspected). In this life, you must become more ethical and disciplined if you are not to repeat your mistakes and further debase yourself. Saturn retrograde: in past lives you were very mean, cold, heartless, and stingy, thinking only of your status, wealth, and power or control over others(especially if Saturn is badly placed or aspected). In this life you have no ambition or power, or find it very difficult to maintain, and may now be at the mercy of others. Uranus retrograde: in past lives you were a rebel, revolutionary, or scientist who caused a lot of mayhem(especially if Uranus is badly placed or aspected). In this lifetime, you may be tempted to repeat your

rabble rousing but it will backfire and make you the victim instead. Whatever you do, you must be totally honest and humane, otherwise you will invite trouble. Neptune retrograde: in past lives you were very deceptive and immoral attracting scandal and persecution(especially if Neptune is badly placed or aspected). You lied and cheated and refused to face reality, and may have even committed suicide, and in this lifetime it is very easy for you to fall into the same traps unless you exercise discipline and faith. Pluto retrograde: in past lives you resorted to criminal acts and lascivious behaviour(especially if Pluto is badly placed or aspected), and in this life you may be subject to same. back to index back to main

rising signs and relationships

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/risingrelations.html

*It is your Rising sign, rather than your Sun sign, that is the primary indicator of harmony or attraction in your relationships.*
Basing your relationships on Sun Signs alone is a common mistake. While there are long term benefits to having compatible Suns, it is no guarantee of a harmonious relationship. Overall harmony and attraction is mainly the province of the Rising sign or Ascendant. The Ascendant is planet Earth and is the most important part of the chart representing the "actual" or perceived you. The Sun, on the other hand, is the most important heavenly body representing the "ideal" or aspiring you which is not always obvious to others. When the Sun person sees his or her inner self reflected outwardly by the Ascendant person, an intimate or mutual bond is established. Similarily, when the Ascendant person is invigorated or animated by the presence of the Sun person, an intimate or harmonious bond is also established. How one's Ascendant or Rising sign therefore relates to someone else's Sun sign, is the primary indicator of attraction or harmony(both physical and personal) in a relationship. Ideally, the attraction should be both ways(A's ascendant to B's Sun, and B's ascendant to A's Sun), but it often happens that only one's Sun is compatible to the other's ascendant. In most cases this is sufficient to make the relationship successful, especially if other compatability factors like Sun-Sun, Moon-Moon, Mercury-Mercury, and Venus-Mars are present, but there is also a chance that the relationship will be one-sided. Example: Person A Asc.in Scorpio Sun in Aries Person B Asc.in Virgo Sun in Taurus

In this example person A feels a strong attraction to person B(Ascendant opposite Sun is a very common and powerful attraction between two individuals), and while Person B's Sun likes what it sees (Scorpio rising), it does not really feel comfortable or at ease(A's Sun is in quincunx aspect(by sign) to B's ascendant). The impulsive rays of an Aries Sun tend to grate the sensibilities of Virgo rising. Sun/Ascendant Aspects There are seven basic aspects or relationships between the Sun and Acendant, five of which are dual. The most important are the "cardinal" aspects -the conjunction, opposition, and square. The conjunction and opposition show much rapport and are often found in all kinds of close relationships such as marriage and best friends. The square is tense or difficult but important in that it is usually found between parent and child or boss and employee. The trine and sextile are pleasant but not necessarily crucial and are often found between casual acquaintances such as friends, lovers, strangers, or neighbours. The quincunx and semi-sextile are unpleasant and basically negative in nature often causing relationships plagued by treachey, debt, burden, or ill-health. Sun/Ascendant aspects are mostly by sign, although a close aspect by degree will certainly intensify the effect. Here is a table of the various Ascendants and their relationships to the Sun.
If your Rising sign is... Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer You will have excellent rapport with Sun in... Ari or Lib Tau or Sco Gem or Sag Can or Cap You will feel tension but importance with Sun in... Can or Cap Leo or Aqu Vir or Pis Ari or Lib You will have a pleasant(but often dull) rapport with Sun in... sign blending

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/signblending.html

Combining any two signs will often produce a distinctiive third sign, like the blending of two colors that produces a third. This is based on the aspect relationshhip of the two signs. Only in the case where Aries is the first sign does the second sign retain its own identity. This is because it is Aries' nature to EMPOWER any other sign. Example 1: Aries + Aries = Aries(1st house aspect) Example 2: Aries + Taurus = Taurus(2nd house aspect) Example 3: Aries + Gemini = Gemini(3rd house aspect) Now it gets more interesting. Any other sign(besides Aries) plus any other sign, produces a totally different sign. Example 4: Taurus + Aries = Pisces(12th house aspect) Example 5: Taurus + Taurus = Taurus(1st house aspect) Example 6: Taurus + Gemini = Taurus(2n house aspect) Example 7: Taurus + Scorpio = Libra(7th house aspect) Blending two different signs to produce a third can be done with any one of your planets acting as a primary point. Since the Sun is our center, we'll begin there. Example 1: for someone with Sun in Leo Any other planets in Leo(Mercury, Venus, etc.) will have an Aries or first house effect for this native, since they will reinforce his solar qualities. Virgo planets will have a Taurean or second house effect. Libra planets will have a Geminian or third house effect. And so on. Example 2: for someone with Sun in Aquarius I have often noticed, for example, Sun in Aquarius natives who appeared to exhibit very Taurean qualities, yet had no planets in that sign. Then I discovered that they had two or more planets in Pisces, which is the second house for Aquarius, and which apparently explained their seemingly Taurean qualities. Aries planets would give them a Geminian quality, Taurus planets would give Cancerian qualities or inclinations, and so on. This sign blending works equally well with the Rising sign, the Moon, or any other of your planets. Each planet, in effect, has its own set of houses, so that twelve separate charts(using the whole sign house system ) can be drawn up, and each appears to yield equally conclusive results, dispelling the notion that the Ascendant is the only first house significator(although it is perhaps the most salient one). Sign blending also reveals that the zodiac signs or qualities are a spatial phenomenon. In other words, it is the particular SPACE a sign occupies in a sequence that gives it its power or identity. Aries is Aries because it occupies the first space in a sequence. Taurus is Taurus because it is second and so on. If you align twelve objects or individuals in a sequence, the first object or person will take on Arian characteristics or qualities, the second Taurus, and so on. This applies to numbers and letters as well. back to index back to main

sign relationships

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/signrelationships.html

Everybody gets to play everyone on the wheel of life and its all based on spatial and compositional criteria. In Astrology the eternal circle or rather spiral is composed or divided into twelve equal sections or spatial areas, each with its particular energy or composition. Space one begins it all and is what gives Aries its initiatory nature. Space two concretizes the actions of space one and is what gives Taurus its solid or earthy nature, and so on. It is the space or sequence which gives a sign its quality or nature and the same principle applies for numerology. This means, for example, that whatever occupies space five or is fifth in sequence, for example, will have the nature of Leo. Every sign is equally important in Astrology and plays its particular role according to its position or space in the zodiac. Every sign also has a special role in relation to every other sign. This also is determined by spatial sequence or configuration or "aspect" as it is termed in astrology. Every sign plays an equal, superior, or subordinate role to some other sign, without exception. Below is a table showing the role each sign plays with each other sign. This can be on a Sun sign level, Moon sign level, or any other mutual or inter-functional comparison.

star placements in astrology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/starplacements.html

Star Placements in Astrology

Planets work best in signs of their own ruling element and are considered "star placements" in your chart. The Sun, for example is a fire planet(ruler of Leo) and works best in the fire signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Planets in their own element are always dominant factors in the chart and can be seen as gifts or strong powers which the native would do well to fully develop and utilize. Planets can also be prominent when well-placed by house(their relationship to the Ascendant), but the sign placement always comes first. Here is a list of the best planets one can have based on the modern rulership scheme:

The Sun, Mars, and Jupiter as rulers of Leo, Aries, and Sagittarius respectively are the three different faces of the pure masculine principle in astrology, and are best placed in each other's signs in the natal chart. Sun/Leo is the fixed or eternal spiritual principle. Mars/Aries is the cardinal or active spiritual principle and Jupiter/Sagittarius is the mutable or adaptable spiritual principle. One does not really know what vigorous living is all about unless one has at least one fire planet in a fire sign. Such placements are highly personal or expressive, give great energy, confidence, and drive, and are an inspiration to all.

The Moon, Neptune, and Pluto as rulers of Camcer, Pisces, and Scorpio respectively are the three different faces of the pure feminine principle in astrology and are best placed in each other's signs in the natal chart. Moon/Cancer is the cardinal or primal soul principle. Neptune/Pisces is the mutable or collective soul principle and Pluto is the fixed or individual soul principle. One does not really know what true sentiment or emotion is all about unless one has at least one water planet in a water sign. Such placements are highly psychic or intuitive and endow great depth and perception.

Mercury, Earth/Asc, and Uranus as rulers of Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius respectively, are the three different faces of the mental or social principle in astrology, and are best placed in each other's signs in the natal chart. Mercury/Gemini is the mutable or pure mental and lesser masculine principle. Earth/Asc is the cardinal or active social principle and Uranus/Aquarius is the fixed or eternal knowing principle (truth). One does not really know what true comraderie, intellect or mind power is all about unless one has at least one air planet in an air sign. Such placements give speed and clarity of mind as well as beauty, refinement, social grace, and peculiarity or uniqueness.

star placements in astrology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/starplacements.html

Venus, X, and Saturn as rulers of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn respectively are the three different faces of the physical, material, or lesser feminine principle in astrology and are best placed in each other's signs in the natal chart. Venus/Taurus is the fixed or unchanging principle of matter or physical embodiment. X/Virgo is the mutable or working physical principle and Saturn/Capricorn is the cardinal or active material principle. One does not really know what true physicality, substance, or accomplishment is all about unless one has at least one earth planet in an earth sign. Such placements are highly practical and capable and give much wisdom, control, durability, and common sense.

Planets in their own element work much like the conjunction and trine aspect in astrology. The conjunction or trine are aspects of flow or ease which require little or no effort to express or activate on the part of the native. Any two planets in trine aspect(principally by sign) will indicate gifts or abilities the native can use to his or her advantage. Naturally, the closer the trine aspect(by degree) and the stronger the planet placements(by gender, element, or sign) the stronger or purer the gift or ability. Planets in their own house or a compatible one(their relationship by sign to the ascendant) will also be strong or fortuitous.

Sun-Mercury combinations

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/sunmercury.html

Mercury can make a big difference in the way you express your Sun sign. It's never more than 28 away from the Sun, so it's either in the same sign as your Sun or in the sign before or after it. When the Sun and Mercury are in the same sign, the heart or ego has no problem speaking its mind or communicating its intent. Mercury in the sign before the Sun holds back or reflects before speaking and tends to dream or wander. When Mercury is in the sign after the Sun, the native has a more objective or practical view of things and can capitalize on the interests denoted by that sign. Below is a list of the 36 possible Sun-Mercury combinations by sign and their combined characteristics. Sun in Aries-Mercury in Pisces: Aries is not so aggressive here. Pisces tones down the speech and the thoughts are more intuitive and imaginative. This Aries is more artistic and romantic. Sun in Aries-Mercury in Aries: The native is what you would expect of this sign -quick, loud, direct, and impatient -no beating around the bush here. Sun in Aries-Mercury in Taurus: This Aries takes more time to reflect on its words or actions and is more practical or worldly-wise, as well as more sensual. They may also have singing talent. Sun in Taurus-Mercury in Aries: This Taurus talks or thinks louder and faster than he or she would like and often gets into trouble for it. Sun in Taurus-Mercury in Taurus: Calm and quiet, these people shrewdly evaluate everyone and everthing around them. Money and sensual pleasures are all-important. Sun in Taurus-Mercury in Gemini: This Taurus can talk circles around you but usually for selfish motives. They make great salespeople. Sun in Gemini-Mercury in Taurus: These Geminis move and talk slower, often have money on their mind, and are more stubborn and sensual. Sun in Gemini-Mercury in Gemini: This is Gemini at its best -quick, clever, youthful, humourous, versatile, and knowledgeable. Sun in Gemini-Mercury in Cancer: The feelings color the thoughts here, and these Geminis are more sensitive, hungry, and domesticated. Sun in Cancer-Mercury in Gemini: This is Cancer is much more talkative, diverse, and humorous than normal. They learn quickly and have a more objective or detached view of things. Sun in Cancer-Mercury in Cancer: Feelings dominate here. The native is very sensitive and emotional, and has a great memory. They like to focus on domestic issues. Sun in Cancer-Mercury in Leo: This Cancer has more confidence and pride and a very creative imagination. They like to entertain at home. Sun in Leo-Mercury in Cancer: These are the more domesticated cats. They take everything very personally and need lots of reassuring. Sun in Leo-Mercury in Leo: These cats are pure ego and the best way to deal with them is to acknowledge their superiority. Very confident and commanding folks.

the modes or quadruplicities in astrology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/modes.html

Besides the elements, the modes or quadruplicities in astrology are a major way of categorizing the twelve zodiac signs(4 elements X 3 modes = 12 signs). While the 4 elements(fire, air, earth, and water) describe the four basic temperaments in astrology, the 3 modes describe the three basic ways the signs(and their rulers) work or operate. The three modes are cardinal(active), fixed(stable), and mutable(adaptable)... cardinal signs 1.Aries 4.Cancer 7.Libra 10.Capricorn fixed signs 2.Taurus 5.Leo 8.Scorpio 11.Aquarius mutable signs 3.Gemini 6.Virgo 9.Sagittarius 12.Pisces

The Cardinal signs are the starters of the zodiac, and there are four starting points, each for a different element. Aries, which is raw or uncontrolled energy, best exemplifies the cardinal state, and underlies all of the other signs giving them their basic life and identity, but especially energizes the other three cardinal signs which can be seen as elevated blips compared to the remaining signs. The Libra blip(being a masculine or positive sign) is a little higher than the blips for Cancer or Capricorn. Cardinal means "action" and all of the cardinal signs are leaders and doers. Their energy is forceful and powerful because it expresses itself in a mostly unconcious manner. Aries and Libra, being masculine or extroverted signs, express this force most dynamically and extrovertedly. Aries, being the most unconcious expression, is brute, personal, or vital(spiritual) force and is self-starting or initiating. Their mere strength of presence is powerful enough to get others moving. Libra, being the first concious or collective expression is mental or social force. They use beauty, charm, intelligence, or "the iron fist in the velvet glove" technique to get others riled up into action. Cancer and Capricorn being feminine or receptive energies express the cardinal dynamism in a more subdued fashion. They like to pull their strings from behind the scenes rather than in an up-your face fashion. Often they employ others to do their bidding. Cancer is personal emotional force or energy, and fear or insecurity is the driving force. Cancer types like to manipulate others through their fears and weaknesses. Capricorn is organized or impersonal physical force and is also driven by fear or insecurity. They like to control by imposing rules and regulations. The Fixed signs are the sustainers of the zodiac, like four pillars holding up a structure. Taurus, the sign of raw matter or substance, best exemplifies the fixed state, and underlies all of the signs giving them their visible or tangible identity, but especially the other three fixed signs. The fixed signs vibrate more slowly than the other signs giving them their greater density and visibility. Fixed means stable or unchanging and all of the fixed signs display a certain stubborness or fixity of purpose which can drive the other signs mad or earn their respect. Their energy is slow but constant and productive, and is the expression of a semi-concious state. Taurus and Scorpio, being feminine or introverted signs, best express the quality of fixity. Taurus is the most physical of all the signs and therefore the most rigid, stubborn, or possessive, but also the most loyal, enduring, or resourceful. Scorpio is also very fixed or stubborn but more in the emotional than the physical sense, and is more relationship-oriented because of its location in the second or objective half of the zodiac. Leo and Aquarius, being masculine or positive signs, display a more open or personal kind of fixity, where the ego or intellect become central issues rather than emotions or tangibles. Leo is spiritual fixity in its

manifested form(sun) or the God complex. It is eternal love and continuous creation. Aquarius is a more impersonal or group kind of love and the truth that lasts forever. Both signs are very firm or stubborn and see their rigidity or steadfastness as a strength rather than a weakness. The Mutable signs(also called the Common signs) are the communicators of the zodiac, linking, bridging, and making concious all facets of human or life experience. Gemini, the sign of raw mind or conciousness, best exemplifies the mutable state and underlies all of the signs giving them their coherence, connectivity, and meaning, but especially the other three mutable signs. The mutable signs have the fastest vibration and represent conciousness or awareness. Gemini and Sagittarius being masculine or positive signs best express the mutable qualities of change, diversity, and ideas or thoughts. Gemini is the most mutable, mental, or adaptable of all the signs, but also the most changeable, scattered, and unreliable. Sagittarius is also changeable and deals with ideas but at a higher or more principled level, being in the collective half of the zodiac. Virgo and Pisces being feminine or negative signs express their mutability at a much more sensitive or tangible level. Virgo is physical adaptation, conciousness, or communication, whereas Pisces is emotional or psychic awareness or communication. Both are service-oriented in their own particular ways(one being physically helpful, the other being emotionally so).

The Modes and Relationships

Cardinal signs love action, challenge, and accomplishment and can be rather impatient or condescending towards more sedentary types. We are basically talking Sun signs here, but this can apply to almost any other planetary comparison. Perhaps the best way to gauge a person's overall mode is to count the number of planets therein. The average is three or four per mode. Five or more planets in any mode becomes the dominant modus operandi. As a whole, cardinal signs/types do better with mutables than with fixed. The cardinal person will usually lead and the mutable person will gladly follow or accomodate. Its something like the Aries/Gemini relationship -both are predominantly masculine and positive and therefore compatible. Not so with the cardinal/fixed relationship. This is the unstoppable force hitting an immovable object. Usually the sign or mode ahead is the stronger, so that matter or earth or fixity usually wins over spirit, fire, or cardinality. At first it appears the cardinal person has the upper hand, but the tenacity or stubborness of the fixed person usually wins out. It can be something like the Aries/Taurus relationship. Mutable signs, on the other hand, tend to win out over fixed types(it's that mutable charm, cleverness, and adaptability). It's all cyclical. Just as fire is subject to earth which is subject to air which is subject to water which is subject to fire, so cardinal is subject to fixed which is subject to mutable which is subject to cardinal. Cardinal types find fixed types physically attractive, who in turn find mutable types physically attractive, who in turn find cardinal types physically attractive.

the triple nature of the planets

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/trilink.html

The Triple Nature of the Planets

Every planet in astrology appears to have a flexible tri-partite nature so that it can accomodate interpretations for various levels of reality. The Sun, for example, is dignified(at home) in Leo, and should be the most obvious or radiant feature in any chart, but because we do not live on the Sun, it no longer becomes the primary expression in a chart. On any other planet, the Sun, in fact, acquires a Cancerian(Leo's night side) quality, and is often described as one's "inner" or "private" self. The Sun also, because we live on the Libran planet of opposites, takes on the characteristics of its opposing planet, Uranus, which is why the Sun is also an indicator of your "individuality". In this way, every planet can be identified via its linkage to three signs: its home or ruling sign, its night or day sign(expressed in the traditional rulership scheme), and its aspect sign(in our case-the opposition). The table below will carify this. Dignity(Home) Sun Moon Mercury Venus Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto Earth/Asc Inner Sun/MC? Leo Cancer Gemini Taurus Aries Sagittarius Capricorn Aquarius Pisces Scorpio Libra Virgo? Substitute(Day/Night) Cancer Leo Virgo Libra Scorpio Pisces Aquarius Capricorn Sagittarius Aries Taurus Gemini? Aspect(Opposing) Aquarius Capricorn Sagittarius Scorpio Libra Gemini Cancer Leo Virgo Taurus Aries Pisces?

This explains why the Moon, normally associated with maternal(Cancerian) characteristics, can also be your popularity(Leo) or your buisness(Capricorn) planet. Why Mercury, normally associated with cerebral(Geminian) characteristics, can also be your skill(Virgo) or philosophy(Sagittarius) planet. Why Venus, normally associated with evaluative(Taurean) characteristics, can also be your relationship(Libra) or sex(Scorpio) planet. Why Mars, normally associated with primordial(Arian) characteristics, can also be your sex(Scorpio) or partnership(Libra) planet. Why Jupiter, normally associated with spiritual(Sagittarian) characteristics, can also be your psychic(Pisces) or communication(Gemini) planet. Why Saturn, normally associated with professional(Capricornian) characteristics, can also be your scientific(Aquarius) or home/security(Cancer) planet. Why Uranus, normally associated with unconventional(Aquarian) characteristics, can also be your career(Capricorn) or inner will(Leo) planet. Why Neptune, normally associated with mystical(Piscean) characteristics, can also be your religious(Sagittarius) or daily habit(Virgo) planet. Why Pluto, normally associated with regenerative(Scorpion) characteristics, can also be your pioneer(Aries) or money(Taurus) planet. Why the Earth/Ascendant, normally associated with relational(Libran) characteristics, can also describe your physical nature or appearance(Taurus) or the initial impression(Aries) you make on others.

the triple nature of the planets

The Inner Sun/Midheaven is still a puzzle to me. It is often linked to one's career or public standing(Capricorn), as well as one of the Parents(Cancer), and one's alter or higher ego(Leo). It is also one's conciousness(Gemini), working capacity(Virgo), and purpose or calling. It is difficult to determine the home sign, if any, although the candidates would certainly be Gemeni, Cancer, or Virgo. This triple nature of the planets demonstrates the flexibility of astrology to accomodate all possible cosmic realities or situations in life and should be noted or considered whenever doing interpretations. back to index back to main

understanding the houses in astrology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/understandinghouses...

Understanding the Houses in Astrology

Houses are the divisions of the Earth according to your Ascendant or Rising sign. The Ascendant or Rising sign represents planet Earth in your chart. If Leo is your Ascendant, then that is your Earth sign or first house. Virgo follows as your second house and so on around the zodiac wheel. Degrees don't matter here -they just show which part of a house/sign is most sensitive. If your Ascendant is at 23 Leo, then that will be the most sensitive point for every house/sign in your chart. Houses or signs are whole and reflect each other. In the whole sign house system the Ascendant degree does NOT start your first house, but is contained within it. What about the Midheaven or MC? The MC, Zenith, or Medium Coeli degree has traditionally been used as the start of the tenth house for the last several hundred years in astrology, particularly in such house systems as Placidus, Koch, Campanus, Regiomontanus, Porphyry etc. This is a modern idea that was never employed by the ancients who invariably used the whole sign system. Like the Ascendant, the MC degree does NOT start the tenth house, although it may frequently be located there. Instead it can fall anywhere in the upper half of the chart. The MC in astrology represents the Sky, Heaven, or Celestial Sphere and is entirely different or separate from the Earth or Terrestial Sphere which is represented by the Ascendant. Since we are living on the Earth, it is the Ascendant and not the MC which determines the houses. The Sky or Heaven is actually the projection of the Earth's inner sun which lies suspended in its hollow central interior. This inner sun is some 600 to 700 miles in diameter and the source of our planet's magnetic fields. These doughnut-shaped magnetic fields link us to the outer Sun and keep our planet rotating and in orbit. The Earth has it's own field but it is smaller and centered within it's 800-mile thick crust or shell. This is why we measure the Ascendant influence at the horizon point(see my other article on this). Astronomically, the MC degree is measured as the highest longitudinal point crossing the ecliptic at and from the native's birth. Since the center of the sky is also the center of the planet, it is the Earth's Inner Central Sun that powers or drives the Midheaven or MC in astrology. From the geocentric vantage point this Inner Sun appears as another body or planet, although hidden to outer Earthers. All the houses really are, in fact, are 30 successive spaces, aspects, or relationships(by sign) to the Ascendant. Degrees have confused or clouded the whole concept which is why I advocate the whole sign house system as well as whole sign aspects. When an astrologer tells you that your Mars is in your fifth house, what he is really saying is that Mars is in lower or dexter trine aspect(by sign) to your Earth/Ascendant. In effect, houses are aspects, and there are really twelve aspects instead of seven -just as there are really twelve planets instead of seven. All that is really essential in astrology are the twelve planets (including Sun, Moon, and Earth) and their relationships(aspects) to each other. The twelve signs, which are 30 spatial energies, are what make these relationships possible. Because we live on the Earth, the houses have become a fancy way for us to describe the relationships of the other eleven planets to it. Planets in the first house mean planets in the same sign as your ascendant and so on. The 1st, 5th, and 9th house signs and any planets therein become your PERSONAL or LIFE houses and planets -just as Aries(1st sign), Leo(5th sign), and Sag(9th sign) signify such. The 2nd, 6th, and 10th house signs and any planets therein become your CAREER or SUBSTANCE houses and planets -just as Taurus(2nd sign), Virgo(6th sign), and Capricorn(10th sign) signify such. The 3rd, 7th, and 11th house signs and any planets therein become your SOCIAL houses and planets -just as Gemini(3rd sign), Libra(7th sign), and Aquarius(11th sign) signify such. Finally, the 4th, 8th, and 12th house signs and any planets therein become your PRIVATE houses and planets -just as Cancer(4th sign), Scorpio(8th sign), and Pisces(12th sign) signify such. One can also divide the house/signs by mode or quadruplicity into the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th(cardinal or most important to the native), the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th(fixed or monetary), and 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th(mutable or mind-related). There are in fact many ways to divide or analyze the house-signs but the two just mentioned are the most common or relevant. Here is an example chart to help clarify everything that I have presented thus far... example chart

In the example chart, the native has mid-Leo rising but ALL of Leo becomes his first house or Ascendant. Jupiter in Leo falls in his first house and is his most personalized planet combining the characteristics of this planet with his basic Leo nature. This is a sunny and jovial person who will likely be tall and heavy-set. The Ascendant nature and any planets therein are ALWAYS the most powerful or noticeable personal features of the native -at least to the outside world. The Sun, ruler of the first house, is in the 6th indicating that the workplace is where he will best express his warm and generous nature. Venus and Neptune in Sagittarius and the sign of Aries are the next strongest personal features of the native. Both Venus and Neptune make this native charming and sensitive, especially in love matters(5th house). Note: A planet in a house is usually more important an influence than the sign of that house. When the house is empty the sign takes over. It has been observed that the purest Ascendant types in terms of looks or mannerisms are those without any planets there. 5th and 9th house planets are next in shaping or modifying the Ascendant. Continuing in the example chart, the signs of Virgo, Capricorn, and Taurus, and the planets Saturn, the Sun, Mercury, and Mars will characterize the natives financial or career situation. This is a natural place to have the earth signs which are concerned with tangible objectives and results. Saturn in the 2nd house indicates a cautious approach to finances and a lean or meagre income. The native will have to work hard for everything he or she earns. The ruler Mercury is in the 6th indicating money from technical or medical fields as an organizer or administrator(Capricorn). Mars in the sixth indicates an active and competitive worker and the Sun in the sixth indicates managerial or leadership ability in the workplace. The ruler of the 6th is in the 2nd denoting that access to financial resources will be a key to the success of the native's job. Taurus on the 10th house describes the native's title or reputation which can be that of a banker, owner, producer, or singer or actor. The MC here indicates that the parents may have been instrumental in the native's direction or success and the ruler(Venus) in Sagittarius in the 5th gives more clues indicating a career in such fields as gambling or outdoor sports and recreation. As Venus is together with Neptune, that planet too must be included in the interpretation. Who said chart reading was easy or simple!?

understanding the houses in astrology

Note: The interpretations given here are just some of the possibilities. It is not the role of astrology to be too specific about any outcome. Astrology provides a certain framework, but also enough latitude for creativeness and free will. And so on with the social and private houses. The most important houses in any chart are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th -or the cardinal houses. which form a cross and reveal the essential framework of the native's life. The first house(ascendant) is the native himself and the 7th house(descendant) is the native's mate, life partner, or closest friend. The 4th is the home or roots, and the 10th is the career, or public reputation. The succedent(fixed) houses and the cadent(mutable houses) deal with important but less immediate concerns. House interpretations can be extended to involve other people in your life. For example, your 8th house can reveal information concerning your partner's 2nd house. Your 9th house can give you clues to your partner's 3rd house, and so on.

unique perspectives on astrology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/perspectives.html

Unique Perspectives on Astrology

On the one hand there are the Sun sign readings lumping everyone into twelve groups. TOO SIMPLE. On the other hand there are the birth charts with their houses and aspects and degrees. TOO COMPLICATED. Then there are the twelve planets in the signs. JUST RIGHT The truth is always somewhere inbetween. Astrology was NEVER meant to be specific. Its purpose is to provide a FRAMEWORK within which we can exercise our free will. There is enough imformation to be gleaned in your twelve planetary positions(by sign) without having to go into houses, and aspects, and degrees. Degrees in particular are the bane of astrology creating the whole mess of houses and a host of invalid aspects and with them false and misleading interpretations. Signs are energies, and energies are whole -they cannot(or should not) be divided into degrees. Degrees are merely reference points with no real power of their own. Only the starting and ending points of a sign should be considered, and unfortunately, this is done almost exclusively through mathematics. Actually, the beginning and end of a sign are interchangeable, for planets are capable of reversing their rotation or even their orbits, so that what was once the first degree of a sign would then become its last! There will come a day when all humans will develop their psychic powers and will be able to see and recognize the colorful astrological fields both around themselves and the planets -and without the help of an ephemeris. Everybody will then be their own best astrologer. Jesus had this ability, and so do all psychics and spiritually evolved beings, The astrological houses are the result of a misunderstanding of the true meaning of the Ascendant and Midheaven signs. The Ascendant is planet Earth and the Midheaven is a planet's Inner Sun. Mars in the fifth house is therefore Mars in lower trine relationship (by sign) to the Earth. The Midheaven or Inner Sun should be treated as a planet. Interpreting Planetary Positions Each planetary position describes a different part of you and can be interpreted in two ways -from the planet's point of view(the more standard procedure), or from the sign's point of view. Mars in Libra, for example, can be interpreted as meaning an "active social life" or a "harmonious energy flow". It can also mean "sex with a Libra type" or "marriage to an Aries type". How this Mars relates to your other planets or someone else's can also work in two ways; the first is through the simple laws of synastry which are discussed in the relationship section of this site, and the other is through sign rulership. Mars will always be more closely influenced by planets in Aries and and a Mars(or any other planet) in Libra will have a special link to the Ascendant or rising sign( planet Earth). Only planets in their own(home) sign are truly indepenndant(Aries-like) and drive the rest of the chart on their own power. Planetary Relationships Planets in their own home signs will get along best with other planets in their home signs. Sun in Leo, for example, will get along best with another Sun in Leo or Mars in Aries or Jupiter and Sagittarius. Uranus in Aquarius will make an ideal partner, and Mercury in Gemini and Libra Rising will make good friends. Venus in Taurus and Pluto in Scorpio will be difficult but critical positions, and so will Moon in Cancer, Neptune in Pisces, Saturn in Capricorn and Midheaven in Virgo. Sun in Aquarius is an opposition placement and seeks out other opposition placements for its full expression. Trines seek trines and squares seek squares, and so on.

what is astrology?

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/intro.html

What Is Astrology?
01. Astrology is God's systematic way of organizing and running this universe. 02. Astrology revolves around the number twelve(twelve signs, twelve planets, etc.) 03. Astrology is not fatalistic. Rather, it provides a framework within which our freewill can function. 04. The principle role of astrology is to better understand one another. 05. Astrology has other roles as well; to better understand our environment, to study the past and future probabilities, to coordinate relationships, to better plan our activities, and also to improve our health. 06. Astrology affects everything, from people to animals to plants to minerals to events and places. 07. Not only do the planets affect you, but you affect the planets as well! 08. The Sun, Moon, and planets are all hollow and inhabited within, and are all equally important no matter how small or far they are. 09. The planetary pattern at your first breath at birth fixes your genetic code which determines the general course of your life. 10. Your twelve planetary positions are determined by your exact time and place of birth. 11. The Ascendant or Rising sign is the influence of our own planet Earth, and the Midheaven is the Earth's Inner Sun. 12. All those who ridicule ot prohibit astrology do so out of ignorance or for selfish reasons. back to index back to main

which planets to choose for astrology

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/whichplanets.htm

Which Planets To Choose For Astrological Purposes?

The 21st century is witnessing an explosion of new possibilities for astrology as technical advances make possible the discovery of hundreds of thousands of new objects in the heavens, previously unknown of, within our own solar system and beyond. From countless asteroids and centaurs to hundreds of dwarf planets and transneptunians, there is a bewildering array of objects to choose from which can open up the horoscope like never before. With so many choices, which objects do we choose or work with, and for what purposes? First of all, I wish to say that this new expanse of bodies, goes hand in hand with the new expanse in human awareness and potential. Minds and souls all over this planet are breaking old boundaries and paradigms and reaching for the infinite thanks in part to the explosion of knowledge made possible by the internet and all related media. What we do with all this knowledge will be the test of our mettle as a human species. The planets or heavenly bodies can measure or reflect this unfolding growth within us. The first major indicators of this process were the discoveries of the outer planets Uranus(1781), Neptune(1846), Ceres and the major asteroids(1850's), and Pluto(1930). These ushered us into modern or industrial civilization and raised the planetary count from 7 to at least 10. In 1977 the first centaur(Chiron) was discovered and a year later it was Charon(Pluto's large moon). Both ushered in a new and growing spiritual awareness of our connection to the planet or biosphere. Then in 1992 the first Kuiper belt object(1992 QB1) opened up a vast area of space(and conciousness) beyond Pluto, followed by objects like Quaoar, Varuna, Haumea, Makemake Sedna, and of course Eris in 2005. These Pluto-like objects(and Pluto itself) created a new category of space objects known as the "dwarf" planets, and their role in the birth chart is still unclear. Many more of these objects have yet to be named or discovered and still other bodies await us in deeper or more distant parts of our solar system. When setting up an astrological chart, the main planets -Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturm, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, as well as the two "angles"(Earth/Ascendant and Inner Sun/Midheaven) are always featured. Pluto is definitely a planet to astrologers, regardless of what the astronomers say. These twelve astrological factors are a MUST in any horoscope. Then come other minor factors or bodies such as the North Node, asteroids, centaurs, plutinos, and more. Some like to include major stars, the vertex and part of fortune, as well as black holes, uranians and other hypotheticals. The list of bodies both real and theoretical is endless. Which bodies should you be concerned with? The main planets and angles, of course. Stick with what's in the solar system. Don't let the astronomers lead you astray with those exoplanets which while interesting and exciting are of no concern to us(astrologers) at this time. The seven traditional visible planets are always the most important, beginning with the luminaries(Sun and Moon), as are the angles or hemispheres(Earth/Asc and Inner Sun/Sky/MC). Then come the five worker planets -Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn which double-up in rulerships for those less enlightened times when the invisible outer planets aren't known or taken into account. Then come the outer or "modern" planets such as Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Eris is the new baby in our solar system and is still under study and there are no doubt other planets beyond it. These twelve factors alone already provide a solid foundation for interpreting the birth chart. Perhaps the most pivotal factor of all is the Earth/Ascendant or rising sign which sets up the astrological houses. The other eleven factors(including the Midheaven) take a back seat to this Ascendant or Rising sign which is the Earth's influence as seen from our time and place of birth. The MC or Sky or Heaven is a projection of our hollow planet's Inner Sun and can be treated as a planet. Size is an important factor in astrology as it immediately helps to cut down on the number of choices. All of the main planets are at least 1000 miles or larger in diameter. Pluto, the smallest, is some 1432 miles in diameter, followed by our Moon(2160), Mercury(3032), Venus(7,520), and the Earth(7,926). Astronomers give Mars 4200 miles but some say it's actually 11,400. The other larger outer planets are also in dispute. Are astronomers giving us innacurate measurements? Even the Sun may not be as large as the actual estimates. Not only the sizes, but even the distances may be off. Most all planets or bodies develop hydrostatic equilibrium or roundness at a certain size or diameter. The lower limit is somewhere between 200 and 300 miles, although this can vary in individual cases. A planet's roundness or smooth shape is important in classifying it as a planet. Not all planets are round of course -some are oval or football-shaped. Ceres, which measures about 600 miles in diameter, is an excellent example of a dwarf or minor planet. Satellite images and studies have shown it to be much like Earth and the the terrestial planets and it warrants serious study in the natal chart. All dwarf planets do -and there may be hundreds of them! Personally, I consider any body between 500 to 1200 miles diameter to be a bona fide dwarf planet, and anything above 1200 miles to be a major planet. While the major planets delineate major themes, in the chart, the minor planets may describle lesser or sub issues and complement the interpretation. I believe even the smallest asteroids have their story to tell -as trivial or insignificant as they may be. Asteroids(and centaurs) fill in the blanks where the planets don't. This is especially evident on an astrocartography or locality map which shows WHERE the astrological influences manifest. Tons of fun can be had seeing which if any of these asteroids cross over key cities or areas on a map. There is the popular idea that Virgo is ruled by the asteroids in general because of this sign's preoccupation with innumerable little details. To obtain all your asteroid positions and much more, go to the excellent Serennu.com(gives accuracy to the second!) The important thing to remember is that every speck of matter in this material universe has an aura, energy field, or astrological influence, but it's only the biggest or flashiest ones that get all the notice or attention. It's also important to remember that the NAMING of a body is extremely important in terms of its power or significance. When a planet is named it is literally knighted or activated with new purpose and power and will play some role, major or minor, in a chart. Unnamed bodies, or those with

tempoary technical labels, don't attract attention, and most are like powerless sleeping entities. Select named bodies over unnamed ones to cut down on the possibilities. your sun-ascendant polarity

http://www.librarising.com/astrology/fwa/polarity.html

The Sun and Ascendant(Earth) are perhaps the two most salient features in any chart, and the relationship between the two and how it affects both one's sense of self and one's relationdships is well worth examining. In Astrology, the most basic medium of expression is GENDER(masculine/feminine, positive/negative, extrovert/introvert, etc.). With two planets or factors and two genders there are a possible 4 Sun/Ascendant types as follows...

Type 1) ++ Type 2) +- Type 3) -+ Type 4) -+masculine = Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius -feminine = Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces

Type 1) ++ masculine Sun and masculine Ascendant This is the best combination as both factors rule masculine signs. These people have strong egos or individualities and it comes through because the nature of both the Sun and Ascendant are in similar or compatible signs. What you see is basically what you get. The Sun or ego has no problem expressing itself, especially if both are in the same element. These people have presence, strength, warmth, and grace, and are often very attractive physically. Their compatible Ascendant ensures that they attract to them people and situationss that are harmonious to their basic inner nature(Sun), so that they are, for the most part, happy and successful people. Type 1's are most compatible with other Type 1 people and least compatible with Type 4 people. Types 2 and 3 are toss-ups, although from their perspective, Type 2 is preferred(because of the compatible Suns).

Type 2) +- masculine Sun and feminine Ascendant This is a deceptive and often unhappy or unfulfilled combination as both factors are at odds with one another. The ego or Sun is strong, but it has a hard time showing or coming through. There is the sneak thief aspect about this one; they look weak or cold or unattractive on the surface, but once you get to know them they surprise you with their strong and positive nature. Robert DeNiro is a good example. Their incompatible Ascendant often attracts to them people and events that are contrary or inharmonious to their inner Sun natures, and unfortunately this is a life-long pattern. Type 2's gravitate towards type 3's, and at first it appears to work fine, but as time goes by and the conflicting Sun sign qualities begin to emerge, the relationship starts to fall apart. The exceptions between Sun signs are Aries-Scorpio, Taurus-Libra, Capricorn-Aquarius, and Leo-Pisces(most of them due to dual rulership), but even these are never as compatible as those between two harmonious elements. It's so-so with types 1 and 4. They like 1's appearance but the vibes grate them a little. They feel comfortable with 4's but are not drawn to their looks.

Type 3) -+feminine Sun and masculine Ascendant This is also a deceptive and often unhappy or unfulfilled combination for the same reason as Type 2. Type 3's have a great presentation, but the solar nature is a let-down. Like type 2, they are very different from what they appear to be, and seem to always attract all the wrong people and situations. They may look confident, attractive, and successful on the exterior, but this hides a very cautious and insecure interior. Elvis Presley is a good example. So long as they let their Ascendant natures dominate over their Sun sign, they will never truly be happy, either with themselves or others. More than the other types, they will use their looks or charms to advance themselves professionally or financially. Type 3's are drawn to Type 2's but it is often a fleeting attraction for their Suns are not truly compatible. They

get along least with their own Type, and it's so-so with Types 1 and 4. Their own types mirror their own unhappiness and inadequacies, but because of their compatible Suns, the flare-ups are often superficial. Type 1's feel good(vibes) but the appearance can be threatening. Type 4's don't feel right but the appearance is reassuring.

Type 4) -- feminine Sun and feminine Ascendant These "neggies"(for lack of a better term) are overly negative or feminine nature. While they may not be the most inspiring or attractive people, they do feel good or comfortable with themselves and this endears them to others. Like 1's, they are basically what they appear to be and generally attract peoples and events that are harmonious to their inner Sun natures. They are basically interested in the more material or emotional aspects of life and living. Type 4's get along best with their own type and least with Type 1. Types 2 and 3 are so-so for them, although from their perspective, they prefer type 3(because of the compatible Suns). Type 2's look good but don't feel right.
