http://www.vertex42.com/ExcelTemplates/savings-goal-tracker.html This workbook is designed to help you track how your savings is allocated, and where you stand with respect to your various savings goals. If you use multiple savings accounts, you can consider them lumped together in this workbook, or you can save a copy of this workbook for each separate account. For example, you might want to have one workbook for long-term savings goals and another workbook for short-term savings. If you use a single workbook for each separate savings account, it will make it easier to compare the transaction history and balances to your statements. Enter the Names for your savings goals by editing the column labels (Goal 1, Goal 2, etc.) Enter the Savings Goal amounts for each goal. Enter the Beginning Balance for each goal on the first line of the Transaction History. - The Subtotal on the Beginning Balance line should match the total balance shown on your savings account statement. Recording a DEPOSIT Enter the deposit amount in the Amount to Deposit cell Set the Allocation Percentage for each goal and make sure the TOTAL = 100% Record the Deposit in the Transaction History. Enter the Date and Description ("Deposit"), then the values from the Allocation row. If you Copy/Paste the Allocation values, make sure that when you Paste you use Paste Special > Values. Recording a WITHDRAWAL Insert a new Transaction by entering the Date and the Description ("Withdrawal"). Enter the amount to withdrawal from each separate goal. Make sure that the Subtotal adds up to the actual amount withdrawn. Recording INTEREST EARNED When you get your monthly statement, enter a new transaction just like you would a Deposit. If the interest earned is very small, you might want to skip the allocation steps and just add the full interest amount to a single goal. Recording a TRANSFER If you decide to transfer money from one goal to another, just enter a negative value in one column and the positive value in the other column. MANAGING ACCOUNTS If you are including multiple accounts in this workbook, you can highlight the name of the goals different colors based on what account you are using for that goal. It may be a little bit harder to compare the balances of your actual savings accounts to this workbook, though.
