STw4102 dual source USB Li-ion charger with gas gauge

STMicroelectronics STw4102 is a standalone constant-current, constant-voltage (CCCV) linear charger dedicated for Li-ion battery. The STw4102 allows dual charging capacity using the main input adaptor up to 1A (wall adaptor, car adaptor) or an USB cable up to 500mA without external components. You will be able to charge the battery of your portable device anywhere, anytime. The STw4102 also integrates accurate gas gauge and battery monitoring, allowing you to lnow exactly how long your portable equipment can rely on its battery.

Application highlight
The STw4102 contains an accurate gas gauge based on a 13-bit AD converter. External resistor is used between battery and ground to sense a charge/discharge current. With a typical 30 resistor, current can be up to 2.5A. A thermal regulation circuitry limits the charge current against die high dissipation or high ambient temperature. An end-of-charge output pin indicates the charge termination. The STw4102 offers a wide range of flexibility with programmable battery over-voltage protection, power detection, watchdog, soft-start current and charge current monitoring.
