LEDCs naturally suffer more than MEDCs when it comes to natural hazards and disasters

Introduction Define how natural hazards can occur almost anywhere and that it only becomes a disaster when humans are involved and seriously affected. On average neither LEDC nor MEDC should be disadvantaged over the other assume level physical global distribution. Proviso specific areas of the world are more susceptible than others e.g. ring of fire cyclonic trac!s etc. "owever MEDCs and LEDCs both have fair share. Perceptions to hazards are significant factors Deny the hazard e#ists at all $ccept the hazard as a natural and inevitable event "azards are inevitable but controllable "azards are inevitable but the effects can be controlled %n general levels move down this list from LEDC to MEDC &ome hazards are made or intensified by people 'see &ahel e#ample( MEDCs tend to dominate lower order responses due to having the: Past records of hazards especially magnitude and fre)uency &trength of traditional culture especially people*s attitudes to the environment Education standards of the community +elative wealth levels and economic development Community awareness and preparation ,illingness of local and national governments to spend money on pre- during and post relief and aid LEDCs disasters can be man induced by MEDCs Eg &ahel cultural political and social constraints MEDC colonialism on LEDCs Many parts within MEDCs are relatively poorer and therefore have a similar fate as LEDCs e.g. .ew Orleans in /&$ overnment aid and prediction plays a crucial part in level of suffering +is! assessment is the li!elihood of harm ta!ing probability and conse)uence into account. LEDCs simply do not have the money available to enable full investigation and implementation of strategy plans to forewarn deal at the time and post aid and reconstruct and mitigate natural hazards 0 disasters. LEDCs not only impacted by primary damage but secondary damage as well MEDCs more favourable position to underta!e strategy and implementation as richer and public opinion will demand it 'especially after a disaster( Conclusions +eflects 123 of disaster related deaths occur within 405 of the worlds population occupying LEDCs ,hile it can be said that all hazards may be e)ual in geophysical statuses across LEDCs and MEDCs the lac! of 'monies( strategies and implementation of strategies in LEDCs results in increased death and damage. "owever in absolute terms MEDCs fair worse66
