DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Salary Grade-11
FUNCTION OF POSITION Performs unique and non-routine assignments for larger and more diverse projects which require senior technical leadership activities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES 1. Responsible for test facility operations; 2. Develops and defines approach for lower level associates and checks work in progress. 3. Oversees and performs technical, mechanical, electrical and manual work in the testing, operating, and preparation areas of an engineering test facility; prepares plant equipment for operation; troubleshoots equipment in case of malfunctions; operates plant equipment during test; installs and maintains facility systems; accomplishes maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep test facility equipment in operation; uses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipment; uses facility software and makes improvements when possible. 4. Responsible for defined specialty areas and test procedures as required. 5. Develops approaches to data acquisition and presentation. 6. Defines/clarifies requirements for accomplishment by others. 7. Provides organizational integrity for the group and effectively utilizes the manpower available for peak productivity. Develops internal procedures to resolve problem areas and provide an orderly method of work flow. 8. Performs other related duties as required. NATURE OF POSITION CHALLENGES Coordination of work activities and technical expertise to ensure that the scheduled deadlines are met with the level of quality desired. SUPERVISORY GUIDANCE Supervisor, engineer, or client outlines objectives, requirements, and approaches; completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.

SCOPE OF POSITION

RESOURCES IMPACTED Failure to operate effectively and maintain schedules impacts the overall function planning, in many cases determining whether the complete operation is cost effective or not. Further, mistakes may delay a program with consequent for-reaching impacts.

III.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience plus two (2) years of college in engineering or any equivalent combination of education and experience for a total of ten (10) years combined experience. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of project activities gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty. Must be able to effectively communicate with external agencies, contractors, and clients both orally, with effective use of visual aids, and in writing.
