For the most part, the lectures will follow Chapters 1 15 and 28 of Astronomy Today (7th Edition) by Chaisson & McMillan. Chapters 1 2! and 2! are co"ered in ASTR 101: Introduction to Astronomy: Stars, Galaxies, and osmolo!y. #he lectures are meant to hi$hli$ht and supplement the material in the te%t, but not replace it& 'lease read each chapter /e(ore it is co"ered in class (see Course )ebpa$e and Course Calendar below*. +ou are responsible for the material co"ered in both the lectures and the te%t. #here is material from ,-#. 1/1 that you will be e%pected to remember and use, so you may wish to re"iew some of the earlier chapters in the boo0.
