Dear Dan Cathy, Love your neighbor as you love yourself. This is what I was taught as a young child. As a Christian man, I am sure youve learned this yourself. Its found in the books of Luke, Matthew, Galatians, and all over the Bible. Wouldnt you think that respecting all people, whether black, white, straight, or gay is doing just that? By donating money to anti-gay organizations, you are not showing love for your neighbors. In fact, Mr. Catchy, you are disrespecting and offending the LGBT community along with other people who support them. When I think of all the teachings that I learned as a child in Sunday school, which you probably attended as well, I recall when Jesus saved Mary Magdalene, despite her being an infamous adulteress, from being stoned to death. Jesus actions were not discriminative and he did not deny her his love and forgiveness. Just the same, we should not judge or disrespect people of different sexual orientations, if, as Christians, we are to love and honor Gods commandments. A whole-hearted Christian with sound morals and values believes that their life can serve as a model for others in the hopes that they will see the greatness of Christianity: faith and love in one another. There are many Christian churches out there that are accepting to all paths of life and love them as they themselves with no judgment or discrimination. It is based on pure faith that one day they will find Jesus love through their example living a Christian life. Therefore, you as a public figure in our world, you too should be and live an exemplary Christian life and respect homosexuals as you respect yourself, your family, and friends. Compassion for others differences is a prime example of leading a Christian life. As Christians, our mission is to help lead people to Jesus love, regardless of sexual orientation, race, social status, etc. With your donations to anti-gay organizations, people have seen the Christian community as anti-gay and hating on the LGBT community. How can we comply with our mission if people view Christianity in a negative light and are turned from us? God wants us to share our love and treat one another with love and respect. Mr. Cathy, you have offended and disrespected many people around the world by donating to these anti-gay organizations. Your actions have gone against the message that Christians would like to send out to people. According to the Pew Research Centers Religion & Public Life Project, 16.1% of Americans are not affiliated with any particular religion. Instead of turning people away from our Christian community, you have the power to bring people to see Christians in a brighter light. Instead of putting your riches into organizations that are disrespectful to people, put it into more appropriate charities and respect the beliefs and life-styles of others. It is my, along with many others, hope that you can come to respect homosexuals. Perhaps you may even help advocate respect for the LGBT community. This is an opportunity to

help remove the shadow you cast on the Christian community. Show everyone that you can love your neighbor as you love yourself like the amorous Christian man we know you are. Sincerely, Angely Rincon
