Business Security Plan Checklist

Ten Questions Every Business Needs to Answer

By
Timothy A. Dimoff, CPP
President, SACS Consulting and Investigative Services, Inc.

1. Do you have a plan for high-risk terminations?

2. Do you have a plan to address on-site security issues?
3. Has there has been a security risk assessment performed on the premises?
4. Are there frequent absentee issues due to drug and/or alcohol issues?
5. Have you conducted background checks on your staff/employees?
6. Do you suspect that your employees may be committing theft, fraud or worse?
7. Do you have a disaster plan?
8. Do you have an employee manual and has it been updated recently?
9. Has your company experienced a violent or serious incident with an employee,
visitor or others?
10. Do you conduct training for your management on confronting employee issues
and conflict resolution?

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, you and your employees could be at
serious risk. Every business needs a good security plan to prepare for and prevent the
consequences of irrational, aberrant, and the potentially dangerous behavior of
employees, clients, customers and others.
