II. Introduction How to create a more fuel efficient vehicle motor without losing performance in areas such as torque, maneuverability, and amount of horsepower. The experiment will revolve around the premise of using a stock engine, lets say belonging to a 2012 Porsche that runs on diesel, and refurbishing its motor that lives up to the company name but provides the same experience behind the wheel without losing its flare. The purpose will be to design a new engine that allows the customer to receive the benefits of a luxury car that is classified as a fuel efficient sports car but does not disappoint when pushed to its limits. A variety of methods that have been proven to result in such a car, are options such as using a lighter material to build the vehicle known as carbon fiber which reduces weight. The reduction of weight allows the builder to design an engine that might have more cylinders that provides more power per cylindrical rotation and a more direct response. An engine that is stock is a term used to describe an engine that has not been modified in any specific manner and is classified as basic. We aim to preserve the character of the engine while simultaneously saving our customers money which is why our design team is so dedicated in making this project a reality. Reengineering the engine is one aspect that will be both a challenge and experience because configuring it in a manner in which it performs as a sports engine while being environmentally green is a painstaking process. The benefits of having an engine that has features that are parallel to a 2012 Porsche that runs on diesel (the motor we will be starting with) is the fact that you are paying a significant less amount of money for a car that simply appears to look better on the outside. If you are able to renovate an engine and make it more cost effective, produce it

at a cheaper price and insert it into a newly designed vehicle as well, you have a completely new product to sell that will be in popular demand for a plethora of reasons. III. Literature Review The research we have gathered from seeing previous engines trying to be refurbished in such a way has given us an advantage of learning from the past research. As mentioned previously, adding more cylinders would allow for greater power, so we decided to increase displacement. Increasing displacement means more power because you burn more gas during each rotation of the engine. By observing the results of an engine with more cylinders compared to one with less, it significantly changed the performance of the motor. Also, a different form of fuel allows the car to increase its fuel efficiency and provide a cheaper method of transportation. The comparison in price of fuel would attract consumers and expand the popularity of an engine capable of meeting such high standards. Research showed that changing the type of energy powering the engine from gasoline to electricity would reduce CO2 emissions as well and lower costs for individuals who tend to commute to work. The goals we intend to meet are to save those average people as much money as possible but show off their car at the same time. The results measured that an average of $2,000 dollars were saved monthly by switching to an electric-run engine and was cheaper to drive per mile than an original diesel or regular unleaded fueled vehicle. The advantages that were noticeable from switching to a cleaner form of energy were the reduction of contaminants that went into our atmosphere, the fact that resource being used to power the vehicle was renewable unlike gasoline, and the engine was more cost effective, therefore reaffirming the statement that switching to a more environmentally

aware engine has its benefits. These were some of the noticeable improvements that we learned from learning from other car manufacturers, and we made sure to avoid the mistakes they made. There are many other factors that cannot be controlled by the engine, the car itself, the shell that is powered by the motor, has its share of influence on the manner in which it functions. Many companies promised the same experience behind the wheel with an ecofriendly engine but they failed to recognize that changes had to be made to the cars design as well. Our engineers have taken that under consideration and have been working rigorously to create a successful engine and car for our customers. The design of the car has be altered in areas such as: o Materials o Size o Weight Those are the most important components when dealing with the manufacturing of an economic vehicle. IV. Research and Methodology Research is to be conducted in a variety of methods and tests. Our primary focus has been to create a stable and efficient engine from an original non-efficient one. The tests that have been conducted include testing the performance of the refurbished engine in areas such as: o Amount of Horsepower o Torque

o Maneuverability o Fuel Cost o Power Efficiency The continued research shall be conducted over the span 6 months considering we have just been assigned a new contract deal and will be using it to build this car. Those that shall be participating in the construction of the engine include 2 groups of 5 mechanical engineers that have been recruited from the best universities across the globe and have prospered in their field. Each group shall be given the same engine to work with and be allowed to work in the same environment as the other team, working in a designated lab with a budget of $45,000 American dollars. Each month there will be an engine inspection that will monitor the progress of each group to ensure that their engines are within the required regulations of the desired motor design. V.
