All Residence halls close during summer and winter vacation breaks. The cost for living in the residence halls during these periods is not included in your room fee. Therefore there is an additional fee of 7,000won per day to stay during these dates and a sign-up form is needed to be submitted for each time period a student will be staying. Please stop by at the International Relations and Education Center to sign up for residence hall during vacation periods approximately 3weeks prior to the break. 1. - A 2,000 won room key deposit is required of all students prior to moving into the residence hall. - Key deposit money will not be included in your Key Deposit 2,000 won bills. The deposit is made on the day you receive your room keys for check-in at the residence hall and will be returned to you on the day of check-out after returning the keys.

Kwandong University requires full payment of fees at the time of payment on the first week of each semester. Bills for payment will be handed to the student on the orientation day after the placement test. Payment is made in Korean won at the bank and credit card is not accepted. Registration will be canceled for students who fail to pay their fees on time unless arrangements are made with the International Relations Office. Tuition rates and fees may be revised during the year. - 4 -

1. (Korean as a Foreign language) a. Hrs of Class per week: 4 b. Credits:2 c. Course Description: This course is for the students who already have the experience of studying Korean and gained the Lower-Intermediate Level of proficiency in Korean. During studying of this course the students are supposed to extend their knowledge about Korea and the Korean language through learning materials for Intermediate Level. d. Text book (Korean and English name) 4/Yonsei Korean 4 2. (lntroduction to the Korean Thoughts) a. Hrs of Class per week: 2 b. Credits: 2 c. Course Description: The course is dedicated to the understanding of contemporary Korean Society through studying about such aspects of Korean life as city life, leisure time, time management in Korea, etc. d. Text book (Korean and English name) 4/Yonsei Korean 4 3. (Korean Culture & Language) a. Hrs of Class per week: 2 b. Credits: 2 c. Course Description: The students who decide to study this course will find out about many aspects of Korean traditional and modern culture through the Korean language. d. Course Description: This course is supposed to deepen the level of proficiency in Korean to pass the TOPIK exam successfully. During studying of this course the students will find out the most common mistakes made during the exam and will learn the grammar rules and vocabulary required for the Intermediate Level 3 and 4 d. Course Description: This course allows the students to strengthen their knowledge about Korean Culture through learning the facts about the Korean history, aspects of Korean Life, traditions and customs of the Korean nation. d. Course Description: The course is intended for the students who want to deepen their knowledge of Korean though reading scientific articles in Korean. d. Course Description .Through studying of this course students can learn to do listening tasks using authentic materials on practical topics, apply the knowledge of Korean to real-life situations through task-based learning and improve their listening comprehension up to the higher-intermediate level. d. Text book (Korean and English name) /Korean Listening Skills - Intermediate 8. (Korean Language & Thoughts) a. Hrs of Class per week: 2 b. Credits: 2 c. Course Description: Through studying of this course the students will improve their Korean writing skills by studying the aspects of correct Korean writing intended for various spheres of life. d. Course Description: The course is supposed to increase the students reading skill by studying authentic Korean materials about various aspects of the Korean life. d. Text book (Korean and English name) 4 Yonsei Korean Reading 4 10. (Understanding of Korean Popular Culture) a. Hrs of Class per week: 2 b. Credits: 2 c. Course Description: This will help students to grasp Korean youth culture and Korean identity and the values and images depicted in modern Korea. This course explores the portrayal of Korean popular culture from the Korean war to the present day. This course will also help students to understand the current Korean popular culture represented by TV dramas, Korean films, internet and pop songs. In addition to these goals, this course will also touch on contemporary issues of Korea such as the reunification of North and South Koreas, minorities in Korea, the role of women and human rights.
