Accenture Learning

- Global Content Development Centre established

Challenge
Following Accenture’s recent signing of a multi million dollar deal with an Australian Government agency for
software and development services, Accenture Learning was commissioned to develop the training component of
the solution. Accenture Learning is an Accenture business process outsourcing (BPO) unit that provides learning
solutions to government and corporate enterprises worldwide. Collaborating with clients to enable high
performance, Accenture Learning establishes a clear and ongoing link between learning investments and
business results. It is one of the largest learning services providers in the world.

By the time the Government project is completed in 2008, both front-end systems and core back-end processing
applications will be completely replaced. To support the implementation, over 500 hours of training content,
spanning multiple releases of functionality and new applications, will need to be created by Accenture Learning.
While content is usually developed in one of Accenture Learning’s four global Content Development Centres
(CDCs), the client’s onshore resourcing requirements created an opportunity for Accenture Learning to establish
a fifth CDC in Australia.

This mandated the swift sourcing of specialist staff to support the work sold and establish a local office. Diversiti
was invited to help determine the best location for the CDC and source the initial contract staff.

Solution
Diversiti worked closely with Accenture Learning on the CDC project from day one – conducting an initial site
analysis, defining sourcing requirements, recruiting the primary team, managing contractor payroll and support,
transitioning various team members to permanent status and pipelining candidates to cater for the increasing
need for CDC resources.

With a preference for entry level candidates or graduates with a background in instructional design or web based
development skills, Accenture Learning provides specific training once successful applicants are on board.

To quickly source the volume of resources needed with those skill sets, Diversiti pursued a combination of
sourcing solutions including - university recruitment and portals; Australian Psychological Society web site
advertising and member mail out; online sourcing; mining of Diversiti’s extensive database, pipelines and network
of contacts; and referrals.

“Diversiti helped us by sourcing all of our candidates as we didn’t have the management time or know how to do it
ourselves,” said Richard Clarke, Managing Director for Australia with Accenture Learning. “They did a great job
identifying the people we should interview and managed the whole contract process for us. In fact, as contracts
expire we’re looking to convert many of them to permanent employees.”

Success Factors
Accenture Learning turned to Diversiti to help expand its global footprint and establish a CDC in Australia. The
business continues to grow and the CDC now supports four Australian clients and one offshore client. Officially
opened in Brisbane on 18 April, 2005 – becoming part of Accenture Learning’s global network - a public launch of
the CDC is planned for July 2005 to coincide with the relocation of the team to new premises.

“We started hiring in December, but the amount of work sold since has doubled the amount of new hires needed
to support our growth,” said Richard. “The team is working out really well and we’re now on the look out for more
senior people.”

“Diversiti were the obvious choice for us - friendly, professional and proactive. We have a strong relationship and
will continue to use Diversiti to meet the growing needs of our business.”
