Os meus livrinhos do Alfabeto
My little alphabet books in Portuguese
This collection of books offers young learners of Portuguese

Letra A
a fun way to learn the letters of the Portuguese alphabet
while developing their fine motor skills. Each book teaches
picture and word identification, letter recognition, upper- and
lower case letters (print and cursive), syllabication (alternate
colors indicate syllables inside words) and numbers 1-10.

My little alphabet books in Portuguese offer several activ-

ities that will help young learners of Portuguese develop pre-

A
reading and writing skills, in a way that is familiar to them in
the English language. These books may be used in combi-
nation with manipulatives, such as alphabet blocks, reading
rods and cards. Please check the K-5 Sequential Portugue-
se Curriculum site for more ideas and resources at:

INSTRUCTIONS | INSTRUÇÕES
Step 1
Check if you have the main fonts used in the alphabet book prior to printing:

alfabeto Futura, classic font, probably already installed in your computer

o alfabeto Snell Roundhand, available for free at

http://www.fontyukle.com/en/Snell+Roundhand+Script.ttf
Os amigos P l u m B A L , available for free at

http://www.fontriver.com/font/crayon_plume_seyes/

Step 2
How to make your little book. This is a great project for young learners and can be
adapted to many type of topics:

- my favorite animals; a trip to the farm/zoo; my journal; my favorite foods; my family; my

school; my neighborhood, etc.

1. Print page 1 and 2 back to back. You can use thicker paper or card stock, but white or
off-white gets the best results. >>>

2. First cut along the horizontal dotted lines so you have

three panels. >>>

<<< 3. Fold each panel along the solid line in the middle
(even numbers on top).

<<< 4. Place the panels inside each other so that the page
numbers read from 1 to 10.
5. Before you staple the pages together, check the dotted
lines on the sides and trim the excess (be careful since
those lines may have printed off a little on one side of the
page). >>>
6. Once the pages are in order, staple the inside of the book as shown. Enjoy your book!
