BACKGROUND Takween Integrated Community Development (Takween ICD) is an urban development firm established in 2009 in Egypt by a young dynamic team in response to a foreseen growing demand for innovative urban solutions. Takween-ICD specializes in the development of integrated packages in urban development services and solutions to support and complement efforts of tackling urban challenges. Takween ICD is currently implementing, with its partner the American University in Washington D.C., a new urban initiative TADAMUN: the Cairo Urban Solidarity Initiative. TADAMUN is working to help residents of neglected and underserved communities in Cairo to realize their right to the city and to participate in decision making processes that affect their lives. You will be hired by Takween ICD and be based in its premise (Maadi, Cairo). You will report to TADAMUNs Project Co-Leader in Takween ICD, and work closely with all TADAMUN staff both in Cairo and Washington D.C.

JOB DESCRIPTION Seeking a professional, experienced, energetic, and disciplined staff associate to supervise, conduct, and publish research and public policy analysis about Egyptian urbanism, the built environment, local politics, social justice, and urban development. This full-time position requires writing and editing skills, critical thinking, and analytical capabilities as well as the ability to closely supervise research and policy analysis, from an interdisciplinary perspective. Training in the social sciences (political science, public policy, sociology, and/or anthropology) is essential at least at the MA level or PhD level, but commensurate experience in this field will also be considered. Experience and knowledge with Local Administration and Local Government would be appreciated. Please submit examples of publications and other professional experience (published authors will be preferred). Arabic language fluency is required, both in writing and speaking.
