The Daleks
This story introduces two plotlines in Doctor Who, that of the T)*DI#' na%i!ational circuits malfunctionin! and that of the supposed destruction of the Dalek race' In this case, instead of brin!in! its crew back to &arth, the T)*DI# lands in a petrified jun!le, and the Doctor has to try to fi( their position by takin! a readin! of the stars' The Doctor insists they e(plore a futuristic city they spot beyond the forest but Ian Chesterton and Barbara ri!ht are not con%inced' In the forest someone touches #usan's shoulder, howe%er the Doctor doesn't belie%e her' Later a bo( of %ials is found outside the T)*DI#' The Doctor claims the fluid link of the T)*DI# is runnin! low on mercury 0a ruse he later admits to1, forcin! the crew to tra%el to the city in search of more mercury' Inside the city, Barbara becomes separated from her collea!ues, and is, in the iconic first episode
