Currently,thestudyofnewliteraciesisespeciallyinterestingineducationalcontexts.Inthesocallederaof mediaconvergenceandparticipatoryculture,tobeliterateaboutthemediabecomesessentialforactive participationinsociety.Inthesamewaythattraditionallyitcannotbeassumedthatpeopleisliterateiftheycan readbutnowrite,weshouldnotassumethatnowadayssomeoneisliterateifisabletoconsumedigitalmedia butnottoexpressusingtheseresources.(Jenkins,2006b).Ontheonehand,thereisachangeacrosstheboard inthehistoricalknowledgeofwritingtomovetotheimagedomainitischangingacrosstheboardinthehistorical knowledgeofwritingtomovetotheimagedomain.Moreover,achangefromthedominantmedium,wherethe screensaretakingoverbooks(Kress,2003b). Thispaperexploresaninnovativeeducationalexperience,involvingstudentsbetweentheagesof12and13, duringthesecondsemesterof2010,inaLanguage&LiteratureclassofaSpanishSecondarySchool.We workedonthedevelopmentofwrittennarrativeskillsasaprevioussteptothecompositionofanaudiovisual

processestakingplaceintheclassroom.Ourstudyisbasedonaqualitativeanalyticalperspectivebasedon narrativeandethnographicapproaches(Connelly&Clandinin,2006)andincludesamicroethnographicanalysis ofmultimodaldiscourses(Gee&Green,1998).Wewillpresenthow,throughtheemergingcategories,it'sshown thedifficultiesinvolvedinmedialiteracyworkintheformofmanagementofaudiovisualspeech(Buckingham, 2007,2010)andtheawarenessthatinformationrequiresdifferentrepresentationsfordifferentmedia.(Manovich, 2001).
