Real World Applications Negative integers represent a decrease in something. Positive integers reperesent an increase in something. Zero represents the staring point. Example 3 The temperature on Saturday morning in Arvin was 54 degrees. On Monday morning the temperature drop to 45 degrees. Used an integer to represent the change in temperature from Saturday to Monday. Solution Temperature on Saturday morning = 54 degrees Temperature on Monday morning = 45 degrees Change in temperature = 9 The temperature drop a total of 9 degrees. Integer = -9
