Health Care Reform A Strategic Approach to Planning and Implementation

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:


As we enter into 2014, new guidance and clarifications are being issued by the government in a furious fashion. The employer shared responsibility provision (the "Play or Pay Mandate") has been delayed until 2015 and, as you might expect, this delay provides more questions than answers. However, we view this interval as a great opportunity for employers to utilize the time to continue to develop their strategic planning process for the future. This presentation will focus on the practical aspects of planning for healthcare reform: recognizing significant compliance obligations, identifying cost implications and understanding how offering benefits in the future will impact staffing and other key HR decisions.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:


As a licensed attorney, Bret has practiced exclusively in employee benefits and human resources law. Currently, he serves as an HR Consultant for Associated Financial Group. Through training and one-to-one counseling, Bret works with HR professionals to ensure they have a clear understanding of the rules governing human resources and employee benefits. He helps management teams develop strategies to streamline HR functions and provide employee benefits that are both attractive and cost-effective. He works with employers to maintain compliance of health and wellness benefit packages under state and federal guidelines, including rules of taxation and health care reform. Bret holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Kentucky and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law, and is licensed to practice in Wisconsin and West Virginia. Bret is a frequent speaker in areas of: COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, Health Care Reform, HIPAA, 401(k)/403(b) compliance, payroll, taxation and wage and hour rules.
