n the first day of our spring break we had to face
the heartbreak experienced everyday at animal
shelters across the country: the death of an ani-

We arrived at Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO), the
shelter we would be volunteering at for the week, and were
greeted by one of the staff volunteers holding Lucky Boy, an
emaciated and wounded beagle, wrapped in a blanket. After
a trip to the vet, it was discovered that he was suffering from
three bullet wounds.
