Proverbs chapter 5 (part 1) - Warning against Infidelity


Proverbs chapter 5. Summary: We are reminded again and again about abiding to Wisdom and Understanding. We are warned against immoral, loose, adulterous woman. Wise men must avoid immorality, fornication, adultery and fleshly lust. There are many dangers to sins of immorality. If one does not shun immorality, he will eventually regret.

We are again instructed to be guided by Wisdom and Understanding. With multiple times of such instruction, we know for certain that Wisdom and Understanding are very important in many aspects of our lives. 3 For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; " but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double#edged sword. $ %er feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. ' &he gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it. (NKJV) There can literary interpretation as well as figurative interpretation. We are warned against the loose, adulterous, immoral woman. Probably, a hooker or an adulteress or a seductive woman. We are told to be careful with the seductive words and her sinful ways.

We are warned against a life of fornication, adultery, and fleshly lust. If we apply this figuratively, we are also warned against idolatry, false doctrine, and other evils. Fleshly lust could be very tempting, much like the sweet honey. mooth seductive speech can also ensnare many men. Fleshly lust may be satisfying to the carnal body, but will have bitter end results, and wounds and in!ures the self and others like a sword. 3 ,ow then, my sons, listento me; do not turn aside from what - say. 4 5eep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house, 6 lest you lose your honor to others and your dignity a! to one who is cruel, 17 lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich the house of another. 11 .t the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent. 12 2ou will say, 8%ow - hated discipline9 %ow my heart spurned correction9 13 - would not obey my teachers or turn my ear to my instructors. 1" .nd - was soon in serious trouble in the assembly of :od;s people.< (,-*+ We are again reminded to listen to words of wisdom, and not turning away from wisdom. We are told the dangers of turning away from wisdom, messing around with the "loose#adulterous#immoral woman" and entertaining our fleshly lust. We told not to go near the places of immorality. tay far away from immorality and fleshly lust. $angers of fleshly lust and immorality are% &' (osing honor and dignity. )ay bring shame and disgrace. *' Wasting our money because spending money on women and lust. +' Wasting our energy and time doing something unbeneficial. ,' Wasting the precious years. )ay wear out the body faster due to e-cessive se-. If one does not abide by wisdom and avoid immorality and fleshly lust, he will eventually regret as he gets older. .e will end up in trouble, in difficulties, in poor health, wasted his hard/earned money, etc. .e will regret for being disobedient to the wise teachings. 00 To be continued the ne-t day.
