field of Business. Students will learn the foundations of Marketing related to economics, business structures, human resources, global economies, international trade, free enterprise, business communications and interpersonal and management skills. *This course fulfills the MME Economics Credit for graduation.

Marketing functions and economic utility in the global economy Marketing careers, and career progressions Business in society Economic systems Competition Business profit and risk Relationship of government and business Supply and demand Business cycles Basic business math percentages, fractions, charts and graphs Business communications-positive working relationships-team member

Management concepts-quality, motivation, and leadership Selling-scope and nature, buying decisions, customer needs, selling process, sales presentation Technology in business Promotional mix- merchandising-visual, display arrangements, costs/benefits Advertising- advertising media, agencies, and creativity Distribution and warehousing-stock and inventory controls

presentation, and computer usage.

Evaluation/Grade Calculations: chapter tests - 40%, classroom assignments and


group work - 30% participation and authentic assessment - 10% Final Assessment 20%

projects, and participation

Assignment Expectations: Assignments must be completed per the rubric and be


turned in on time for full credit. There will be reading, writing and math components that must be completed for full credit

Late Assignments: Late assignments must be turned in within five school days for
partial credit (10% loss of credit for every day up to five)

Student Responsibilities expectations: Be on time with necessary materials, no
cell phones in class

Consequences: Loss of participation points Passes: When needed, at my discretion Cheating: The act of obtaining answers or completing assignments in a fraudulent or
deceitful manner. Staff and administrators will determine disciplinary action. Possible zero grade for assignment and possible suspension. (One hour three days)

Technology and Use:


! ! ! ! ! All technology use will follow rules and guidelines set forth by Grand Ledge Public Schools and Grand Ledge High School. Personal technology (mobile devices, iPads, iPods, earbuds, etc.) will be permitted or prohibited at the instructors discretion. Personal technology, when permitted, will be used in a respectful, non-disruptive manner. NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE COMPUTER AREA. Beverages kept in the designated location will be the only exception. IF CLASSROOM EQUIPMENT (COMPUTERS, PRINTERS, ETC.) IS USED INAPPROPRIATELY, PRIVILEGES TO USE THE EQUIPMENT WILL BE LOST.
