To Arvind Kejriwal The Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi Government of Delhi India DATE:14-01-2014 Subject Protest and Hunger

r Strike Against the Proposed Decision of the AAP-Congress Government of Delhi to have 90% reservation in Delhi University for students of Delhi. Dear Sir, This letter is with reference to the proposed decision of your Government, as has been stated by key members and ministers from your party, to have 90% reservation in Delhi University for people of Delhi. We consider it a completely partisan, myopic and self-serving decision for petty vote bank politics, which has severe ramifications for Indias true identity of pluralism and national integration. Such decisions create regionalism and are completely against the idea of development and scope for education for thousands of youth from adjoining states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh as well as from even states like Bihar, Bengal and Northeast India who come to Delhi in search of better education. Such a decision is not just self serving but may create the worst kind of example for the rest of the country to follow since it is being implemented in the National Capital of the nation. Sir, Delhi being the national capital of India, people of whole of India has the right to access the good quality education of Delhi and thus any kind of self serving policy of reservation for Delhi may go against the very idea of India, more so because the whole nation contributes significantly to the well being and development of Delhi through contribution of tax as well as working force. Most of Delhis professionals as well as labour force are contributed by rest of India. And thus, Indians from all across India have the right to access education facilities of the nations capital in return. Most of Delhis ele ctricity supply and food supply

come from other states. And when it comes to reciprocate that through giving better education to students of other states, how can Delhi even talk about reservation? While the issue of paucity of seats is a poignant issue, the solution to that cannot be the self serving and selfish reservation policy but creation of a large number of colleges and universities in the Delhi region as well as NCR and also by giving university status to several world class colleges of Delhi as has been done with Presidency College of Calcutta University, which has been converted to a full fledged university with more funds for expansion. To show solidarity with the aspiring youth of India and to strongly condemn this immature proposal, I have decided to go for a hunger strike from 27th of January, 2014. Jai Hind Kind Regards Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga 11/35B 2nd Floor Tilak Nagar New Delhi-110018 9818737573
