A note from a constituent about the MTA Bus Time app: I rarely get evangelical about anything technological. But I've recently discovered and have begun using a terrific, free MTA bus app. This app is extremely easy to use. Once you've installed it on your mobile phone, all you have to do is punch in the number of the bus line you hope to use th (like M79 for the crosstown bus on 79 Street in Manhattan). When you hit the search icon, it shows you exactly th where all the buses on that line are. One list for each direction. So, for example, if you're on 79 Street and Fifth Avenue and hoping to east to west , the app may tell you that there's a bus on Park Avenue coming your way and another on Third Avenue. The app even shows if the bus is AT a particular stop or is APPROACHING. If you regularly or occasionally use public buses, this is definitely worth looking into.
