Esthetic Reconstruction Using Etched Ceramic Restorations

4 Day Course Date: September 26-27, 2014, Friday and Saturday Times: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Thurs-Sunday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Sunday Area of Focus: Esthetics Units: 32 Fee: $3500 To Register, Call 310.825.6238 or E-mail our Registrar

This is a comprehensive esthetic A to Z course covering everything about todays bondable ceramic materials. The course will cover esthetic analysis, smile design, material selection, and all the clinical steps to complete simple and comprehensive esthetic cases. The format will be lectures, demonstrations, hands-on workshops and a live patient observation experience. The course faculty will perform a live demonstration of a patient from smile design all the way through to final cementation. Participants will observe over the shoulder (or via live video feed) and interact during these sessions.

Learning Objectives
Smile design concepts Indications and contra-indications for etched ceramic restorations Material selection (what to use, when and where) Shade analysis Shade communication photography BFEPs (Bonded Functional Esthetic Prototypes) i.e. bonded mock -ups Step-by-step preparation techniques Techniques for prototypes (temporaries) Step-by-step adhesive cementation Occlusal considerations

Participants will compete all the steps demonstrated in the over the shoulder live patient demo and the techniques covered in the lectures using casts and a specially designed typodont. The course will guide participants through the specifics of smile de sign, to the placement of BFEPs using composite, and all of the steps from preparation to final cementation. During the course, veneers will be fabricated by a UCLA Center for Esthetic Dentistry master ceramist and they will be bonded the last day of the course. Each lecture will be followed by an instructor demonstration and

a hands-on exercise of each of the steps covered in the over the shoulder and lecture components. The hands-on sessions will follow lectures and teach the participants the clinical steps for implementing BFEPs (bonded functional esthetic prototypes) prior to ECR (veneer) preparation to trial the smile. Then the step-by-step process of different types of ECR preparations based on the esthetically driven desired outcome will be demonstrated and completed by the participants.

Workshop Exercises
BFEPS (bonded diagnostic mock-up using composite) Preparations for ECRs bonded porcelain with a specific emphasis on how to control tooth reduction Preparations to close diastemas Preparations based on final shade determinates Final prototypes Adhesive cementation
