Christ the King Mission Statement
The People of Christ the King in Lombard are a welcoming, vibrant faith community building the kingdom of God through our many ministries. We celebrate our diversity, seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish, as we are all joined together under one faith, in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others, and a reverence for all life. In the Eucharist, we find new life, and bring this life to others through stewardship, education, and worship.

Baby Bottles for Life

This weekend begins Christ the Kings Council of Catholic Womens Baby Bottles for Life campaign, on behalf of Womans Choice Services, to benefit, support, and educate pregnant women in need. The bottles will be available at all doors and in the Narthex after Mass. Please take one of these bottles and fill it with your loose change, bills, or a check (made out to Womans Choice Services) and return the bottle the weekend of January 25 & 26. Very Important- we pay for these bottles and ask that you return them. If you are not able to contribute financially, please write a note saying that you are praying for the pregnant women in need and their babies. Prayers are important too! Put the note into the bottle and return it January 25 & 26. God bless and thank you for your help.

I Have a Bean!!!
Thats right--- I Have a Bean is the program that will be presented at the next Council of Catholic Women meeting on Monday, January 20, at 7:00pm in the Parish Life Center. Pete Leonard began this local coffee roasting company which is located in Wheaton. They roast coffee beans which are rated in the top 1% in the world! I Have a Bean also has a great social cause. The company hires people who have felony convictions on their record to help transform the lives of former offenders. Come hear Pete Leonard tell the story of the work and the workers of this company while sampling their delicious coffees. A good way to warm up on a cold winter night!

Have You Noticed the New CDs in the Narthex? Week #6 - How to Bring Fallen Away Catholics Back to the Church
What is evangelization all about? What role does the Church expect ordinary Catholics to play in spreading the Catholic Faith? Dr. Scott Hahn, author and renowned theologian, challenges ?cradle? Catholics to witness to the Faith through everyday life. He presents proven and effective ways to touch those who have fallen away from the Church, even those with the most hardened of hearts.

Parishioner Comments
This strengthened my belief in the Catholic Church and helped me feel proud and confident about defending our Faith through example. Ariel - Whiting, IN This is an excellent form of catechesis. I rate this a 10 out of 10! Mary - Huntley, IL

This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of Christ the King Parish. The book is being provided at no cost to the our parish. Local businesses are being solicited to advertise in the book. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call Eileen Maggiore at 630-3966076 or email at eileen#@ctklombard.org. Mrs. Placey helped us in our circumstance as we moved to New York in the middle of the school year. She saw to it that Vincent would be prepared for the change. It was a wonderful experience! Christ the King gave him the foundation so that he really liked school. We are very grateful.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

We would like to offer a hand crocheted or knitted prayer shawl, cape, or laprobe to anyone in the parish who needs to send one to a dear one struggling with life's loss or illness. The shawls are lovingly made so that your loved one may be wrapped with the allencompassing love of Mary, the Mother of Mercy and Care; and God, the Father of Faithfulness, Healing, and Love. At our meetings on Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 PM in the East Room, we will support you through our prayers for restoring health and healing to your loved ones. In the church narthex, there will be a sign with instructions posted to request a prayer shawl. Bonnie Venezio's e-mail address is: rbvenezio@comcast.net and we will either e-mail or mail you a Request Form.

Fr. Peters Stewardship Goal

With the help of Jesus and the example of our parishioners, we strive to focus on Gods generosity to us as we together in return, share our time, talent and treasure. God has been good to us!

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
Our Baptism, like the Lords, is a consecration to service. The bishops pastoral on stewardship reminds us that . . . there is a fundamental obligation arising from the sacrament of baptism that people place their gifts, their resources their selves at Gods service in and through the Church. "Stewardship: A Disciple's Response ~ US Catholic Bishops 1992
