Luke 10:25-37 (NRSV)

Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. Teacher, he said, what must I do to inherit eternal life? 26He said to him, What is written in the law? What do you read there? 27He answered, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. 28 And he said to him, You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.

Then he said: Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his own hand has fulfilled what he promised with his own mouth to my father David. For he said, 16Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, but I have 29 But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, chosen David to rule my people Israel. And who is my neighbor? 30Jesus replied, A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, 17My father David had it in his heart to build and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half Israel. 18But the Lord said to my father David, dead. 31Now by chance a priest was going down You did well to have it in your heart to build that road; and when he saw him, he passed by a temple for my Name. 19Nevertheless, you are on the other side. not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and bloodhe is the one who 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place will build the temple for my Name. and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and 20The Lord has kept the promise he made: when he saw him, he was moved with pity. 34He I have succeeded David my father and now went to him and bandaged his wounds, having I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord poured oil and wine on them. July Job 38:4-7 (NIV)

February Psalm 119:105-106 (NIV)

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.

Where were you when I laid the earths foundations? Tell me if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together for joy!

August Deuteronomy 24:19 (NIV)

March John 15:10 (NIV)

If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Fathers commands and remain in his love.

Join Trinity United Church of Christ and The DuSable Museum of African American History during Black History Month, as we Commemorate

The Journey of Remembrance begins Sunday, February 2nd, and continues each Sunday, as we travel from the shores of Ghana to the slave plantations of the Caribbean, to the slave ports of New Orleans, and conclude with the great migration north, to Chicago. We will be immersed in the spiritual, cultural, and historical perspectives of our ancestors.
And, for the first time, the DuSable Museum will partner with us in this journey, as each Wednesday, at 6:30 p.m., they will present programs that deepen our historical understanding. For example, on Sunday, February 2nd, as Pastor Moss takes us to the shores of Ghana and the beginnings of the slave trade, the DuSable Museum will present a documentary of the story of Kwame Nkrumah and Ghanaian Independence on Wednesday, February 5th at 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendars, as the Black History Month Maafa Commemorations at Trinity UCC and the DuSable Museum connect you to your history as never before! The DuSable Museum of African American History is located at 740 E. 56th Pl, Chicago, Illinois.
